To continue the discussion.

I thought the comparison with the Duke snd Duchess of Windsor (last post on the previous thread) was interesting.

A visit to a dodgy regime, (Nazi Germany) because they would call Wallis HRH and make it a quasi-royal tour.

Of course, at that point Nazi Germany had a dodgy human rights record, but it was before the horrors of the Holocaust.

Let's face it, with the security and human rights issues there is no way the IG could happen in Nigeria. So that is sn excuse.

Well, report it if you see it.

I have, did you?

Did I report racism on MN?
Yes. Also misogyny, homophobia and antisemitism.

Do you understand the meaning of 'commenting negatively'?

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 18:02

@IsoldeWagner 👍

jeffgoldblum · 10/05/2024 18:03

Do you?

I'm searching and searching this thread 👀 but I can't see anyone being annoyed, have I missed something?

I'm annoyed but only because I should have done a food shop this week but couldn't be arsed and now I'm having Shreddies for dinner.

jeffgoldblum · 10/05/2024 18:04

That sounds awful @Babybreath ! My sympathies Flowers

I’m still waiting for those commenting negatively on her appearance to provide their own selfies. Seems no one is brave enough to pit themselves against the Duchess. I wonder why 🤔

It’s very rare on an anonymous forum for people to post a picture of themselves that’s how anonymous forums work in case you didn’t understand, and also it’s a very silly request in the first place, no one has to prove how attractive they are before they are allowed to comment on someone’s dress sense or appearance.

Thank you, I might jazz them up with some sugar.

Yes why is that so funny? That is exactly what the royals do, work on the instructions of the government.

jeffgoldblum · 10/05/2024 18:06

Try some strawberry Jam @Babybreath

IsoldeWagner · 10/05/2024 18:07

The UK's Royal Family visited (at tax payers' expense) Middle Eastern regimes 217 times since 2011. This is the official figure, the reality if likely to be higher. The regimes in question are brutal, autocratic with little to no semblance of human rights and you can completely forget about women's rights. Bahrain and Saudi Arabia clocked up the most visits from the RF with 40 each.

The King of Bahrain’s son, Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who was directly involved in the torture of activists during the Arab Spring, has met the UK royal family up to seven times since 2011, including at Windsor Castle.

The Royal Family have received lavish gifts from these monarchies and attended horse racing events with no expense spared. During her reign, the Queen received millions of pounds worth of jewels from Middle Eastern monarchs including a gold Faberge style egg from Oman, pearls from Qatar and diamonds from the House of Saud.

I think you're all being hoodwinked into looking in the wrong direction, and it's working. Bet the establishment press can't believe their luck.

Babybreath · 10/05/2024 18:07

@IsoldeWagner probably will succumb. 🤣

The Establishment Press?
You do know that the UK press isn't one amorphous mass, don't you?
There are many newspapers and tv channels etc reporting the news. They are not centrally controlled from a villain's lair.
There's a fan of the DM upthread, not to my taste, but each to their own.

faux naivety! Bingo! 😆

I don’t have time to read all of this thread or the previous one but some of the comments about Nigeria on here and on previous threads have been so derogatory and vile they are imho bordering on racist.

Nigeria is a relatively rich country, near enough a democracy, with a young diverse population and huge gas and oil wealth. It has a serious problem with corruption but nonetheless it’s a hugely important, populous, and economically powerful country in central west Africa, not the back of beyond!

Also a sausage? But no more than William, mind. He gets the extra one.

Didn't she make a documentary a few years ago tracing her roots in Malta I wonder where she'll come from next.
