I thought the comparison with the Duke snd Duchess of Windsor (last post on the previous thread) was interesting.

A visit to a dodgy regime, (Nazi Germany) because they would call Wallis HRH and make it a quasi-royal tour.

Of course, at that point Nazi Germany had a dodgy human rights record, but it was before the horrors of the Holocaust.

Let's face it, with the security and human rights issues there is no way the IG could happen in Nigeria. So that is sn excuse.

It will be interesting to see what happens next, they have both loved the rock star adulation from Nigeria and the royal treatment plus the pages of positive media coverage, they will have got a taste for it and will want more of the same, I suspect this is the first of many ‘tours’ which country will be next to want to roll out the red carpet? China? Russia? North Korea?

To be fair, the only one doing back to back coverage is the Daily Mail, which must be anathema to fans of H&M. Even the Nigerian press are only carrying it as a sidebar.

And I don’t even know where to start with this weirdness - did they infuse it with the scent of Elizabeth Arden cream or something?!

That’s very cool! As I posted upthread, I think Meghan has missed a trick not going with someone like Lisa because her designs are really fabulous. There’s a wonderful halterneck maxi dress that would have been absolutely perfect for the visit. The kaleidoscope dress is also a great example of the dropped waist pieces that she does so well too that Meghan would have really suited.

Having watched the clip that everyone is talking about (where Meghan allegedly turned away halfway through a conversation) - how do people know that’s what happened? Having watched the clip, it wasn’t clear to me that the woman was still talking. In fact, it looked like she just made a comment to Meghan about something off camera - not like she was halfway through a conversation? I may be wrong, but that’s just my two cents!

When I see a group “discussing” another woman’s toes, her eyebrows, how thin her legs are, how inappropriate she dresses etc etc.

It just no longer feels like a discussion (to me) it verges onto something else.

I haven't discussed Meghan's body myself, but given that she hasn't actually done anything on this 'tour', her outfits seem an appropriate topic of discussion. Obviously you may disagree. Participation isn't compulsory.
