If she's having chemo I presume it could be many months before we see her. Poor woman.

I think this is really an uncalled for thread and you should consider taking it down.

Catherine has gone through something serious and has taken time away to get through it. The public have been advised of several things - she was more unwell than she thought and the recuperation will take longer than originally planned. It serves no one to speculate - least of all her - and speculating under the guise of concern is no better. In a role where how she looks, how she dresses and moves is scrutinised - she can hardly be expected to show up publicly looking less than 100%. Asking when she will come out again is insensitive when this has really only been very recent news for her and the children - leave them to deal with it. She’ll be out when she is able to be in the spotlight again.

Says the person posting on the thread and reviving it 🙄

Oh dear.

See the thing is, if folk think these threads are posted with genuinely good intentions all the time, it ain’t Kate that is the ‘poor woman’.

Edited

I posted with clear good intentions. You can think what you like.

I wish her nothing but a full recovery. Cancer is a bastard, whoever you are.

It is fine.

I can and will think what I like.

You are right. Cancer is a bastard.

But skullbabe was right too.

Speculating veers right into the realm of bastardy too.

I totally agree with you both. The treatment may be gruelling and she doesn't have the option to appear looking less than perfect - she'd be torn to shreds for it. Also, you'd get the inevitable rubbish about it not really being her from the predictable people. ( In fact, from some of what I read, I'm preparing for the 'she's dead and that's a double' whatever happens.)

I haven't looked at the Michael Mosley thread either - it just seems too upsetting while his family must be going through hell. I love a bit of gossip when it's not harming anyone, but I think sometimes our curiosity is best kept to ourselves!

In a nutshell 👏

Indeed it does.

Do you all really think Catherine would be torn to shreds if she appeared now? Surely the media would behave, the woman is going through chemo.

It's a shame on so many levels that Catherine feels she can't appear at the moment. Perhaps she doesn't want to and that's fully her choice.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 09/06/2024 09:52

The media might behave. The behaviour of some other people on SM would be very much open to question.

ArcaneWireless · 09/06/2024 09:54

Alas some would not behave.

We have already seen how some behave.

IsoldeWagner · 09/06/2024 09:55

I think, @OliviaBean that the mainstream media would be kind, in spite of things that are claimed about "the UK press".
However. Some of the stuff on social media, including absolutely vile posts on here, never mind awful sites like "celebitchy", really went beyond the acceptable.
Thread after thread on here, with cruel and baseless rumours. Then the furore over the Mother's Day picture! Maybe she just wants to lie low and recuperate as much as possible for the moment.

IsoldeWagner · 09/06/2024 09:55

ArcaneWireless · 09/06/2024 09:54

Yes, unfortunately that's the truth.

Gorgonemilezola · 09/06/2024 09:55

Considering she was torn to shreds for issuing a family photo on Mother's Day and for sitting on a bench explaining her absence from public life was because she'd received a shock cancer diagnosis, yup, I think she'll be torn to shreds any time she appears in public. If not by main stream media, then on social media.

ArcaneWireless · 09/06/2024 09:54

On this very board.

spanieleyes · 09/06/2024 10:06

We would have those who claim she isn't the real Princess of Wales but a substitute used as William has hid the real princess under the patio, those who claim she can't have had cancer as she doesn't look like their great aunt Maud two times removed who had cancer and could dance a jig the following morning and those who claim she is still at deaths door and is being dragged out to pretend that everything is hunky dory in the House of Windsor!

OliviaBean · 09/06/2024 10:13

I completely ignore a lot of social media so I'm probably oblivious to the level of vitriol from clearly very unhinged people.

In a way it would be good to see Catherine appear, f**k you lot, I'm going through something a lot of people go through, this is what it looks like and anyone who has a go is an absolute twat. I'd imagine personally though, it's not worth putting herself through that.

I don't think the royals need to always be perfect and to a point they project that image to the public. Do the royals inadvertently feed the trolls by putting themselves up to be shot down?

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 09/06/2024 10:15

Trolls will troll, whatever their target does or doesn't do. It's the nature of trolls.

I'm not sure what you mean by the RF 'putting themselves up' though.

Isn't that victim blaming?
They have jobs to do. They get on with it.
They didn't invite cancer or lying relatives.

OliviaBean · 09/06/2024 10:18

I guess in Catherine's case what I mean is that she always presents herself so perfectly that any deviation from that will draw the trolls.

LaMarschallin · 09/06/2024 10:19

Do the royals inadvertently feed the trolls by putting themselves up to be shot down?

Trouble is, Kate wouldn't be putting just herself up to be shot down: it would be her family, her husband and - most importantly - her children.

OliviaBean · 09/06/2024 10:20

I'm not intending to victim blame at all. I think the trolls are absolute scum.

I'm talking about the royal PR machine which serves to portray its members as perfect when in reality they are human beings with flaws.

IsoldeWagner · 09/06/2024 10:21

The vile rumours about Rose Hanbury are nothing to do with her appearance.

OliviaBean · 09/06/2024 10:23

I get that. The trolls attack everything to do with them. I suppose I'm just talking about the cancer situation.
