The role of the royal rota was completely misrepresented on the Netflix documentary and has been accepted as fact by many. It is used as evidence by pro Susssex supporters and anti RF people that there is some kind of conspiracy between the rf and the media to present senior members in a more favourable light. I have said before on this forum that the arrival of M drew the attention of many people to the RF who had never really had any interest in it before. Therefore they easily accepted the various claims of unfair treatment by the Sussexes eg about titles and security and bought into the idea that there was a conspiracy to feed them to the media wolves to protect others.

Genuinely interested to know how you know that the royal rota was misrepresented?
Would be interesting to see a source, or do you personally have insider knowledge 😕

ArcaneWireless · 27/04/2024 13:03

It would also be genuinely interesting to see that the words touted as fact in the Netflix series were indeed correct.

Sadly the horse mouths involved are not quite believable so it would be grand to have a credible source.

As with the likes of many reality programmes, I suspect it got a bit of zhuzh for our ‘entertainment’.

Oh yes, like "Spare" and Oprah.
Shall we say economical with the truth!

The difference, surely, is that nobody could query the claims in Spare while they were being made, whereas Oprah certainly could have done - except that then she probably wouldn't have got the very lucrative interview

Nothing new there though; most "interviewers" take the same approach these days, and for me that's a very great shame

ArcaneWireless · 27/04/2024 13:31

I agree.

In the world of meaty interviews, that was limp lettuce territory.

Corinthiana · 27/04/2024 13:33

I would love to see a proper interview with one or both, where they get questioned about their claims. It's never going to happen though.

ArcaneWireless · 27/04/2024 13:36

I doubt even then you’d get the truth.

Just squirm and bluster.

Corinthiana · 27/04/2024 13:46

Plus blaming other people, then collapsing on the floor crying.

You're right, it's not - and we don't need a crystal ball for that one, since it couldn't be clearer that anything except fawning admiration and total credulity is wholly unacceptable to these two

To my mind the most insulting thing is that we were invited to believe that they "didn't know what questions were going to be asked" ... as if

Corinthiana · 27/04/2024 13:50

didn't know what they were going to be asked

I'd love to have seen them interviewed by someone like Parky!

I vote for Jeremy Paxman.

Harry has openly said that he doesn't want to take citizenship. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE who fills in the visa questions say no, they haven't taken drugs and aren't alcoholics. Half the Brits who move here are lying. Immigration cares about whether or not you were charged or went to prison for it. That is all.

There is no way in Hell that the US is going to get into a potential diplomatic argument with the UK and the...cough....King, as much as the Daily Mail want them to. Especially when a lot of the drugs Harry describes are completely legal in California.

Corinthiana · 28/04/2024 06:20

Harry won't take US citizenship because he'll have to give up his titles.
He would never do that. The titles are critically important to him.

hoteltango · 28/04/2024 18:58

Interesting snippet via another site: Apparently when Harry did his video recently for the US Soldier of the Year Award, he was wearing four medals: Afghanistan, Golden Jubilee, Diamond Jubilee, and Platinum Jubilee. What he was not wearing was the Coronation medal - which either he wasn't awarded, despite actually being there, or chose not to wear it.

I know nothing about medals, so I don't know if that's significant.

Corinthiana · 28/04/2024 19:07

He was awarded it by his father.
He chose not to wear it. A snub? Making a point?

BemusedAmerican · 28/04/2024 19:46

If I were Charles, I would make sure the bank of dad was padlocked. Harry is still a teenager.

He really is. He's nearly 40 and a father of two, yet so petty and pathetic.

I've been trying to think of a good reason to not wear it. Maybe the various Jubilee medals are ok because those refer to the former monarch, but not the Coronation medal because that's about the present monarch. But that would mean Harry being aware of any diplomatic aspects.

But apparently, it's not the done thing in the USA to wear medals on a civilian outfit, anyway.

HeddaGarbled · 28/04/2024 22:13

Isn’t it more daft to wear the jubilee ‘medals’? Attendance certificates from his Nan.

Mylovelygreendress · 28/04/2024 22:24

Did he actually receive a Coronation medal ? I thought they were only for those who participated in the ceremony. Harry was simply a guest in the third row .

Thedom · 28/04/2024 22:29

He looked a right twat, however rumour has it he earned $250,000 for that video at his back door, nice little earner if that is true.
