To continue the discussion...

What next? What did the launch aim to achieve? Did it get the desired result?

One other thing about ARO (someone compared it to a parrot squeaking “hello”).

I know it’s been commented on upthread but the name American Riviera Orchard. Apart from the pretension - it’s 10 whole syllables of gobbledygook!!!! I cannot remember it all. I can barely say it reading slowly! Compare it with Goop or Apple etc.

I know there’s no CEO, but they have plenty of advisors, each other and maybe even a mate might pop round for coffee and say it’s a mess of a name. Like the black ball gown at the Bob Marley Jamaican film, how can you get it sooooo wrong? We shall have to see!

We do not yet know that they have got it wrong.

What we can see is a kind of soft launch, and that nothing has (yet) come from any momentum that might have produced. And of course as time passes, that momentum reduces. I have no idea if these are normal timelines for a launch of this sort.

Serenster · 09/04/2024 16:43

What we have seen of her has largely been filtered through a negative prism of press or tv interest

For you, perhaps that is true. The rest of us have seen what Meghan has told us at length and directly in her engagement interview, her Vanity Fair interview, Oprah, a six part Netflix documentary, the many hours of Archetypes podcasts, speeches at the awards she has picked up, the magazine interviews she has done in The Cut and Variety, the interview with Tom Bradby, the Ellen DeGeneres show, her panel appearances at various events (most recently SWSX). Plus what’s been disclosed in her court case and said in evidence in that proceeding. The list goes on….

And then there’s all the things Meghan wants us to know via her husband in Spare, The Me You Can’t See, his Dax Shephard podcast, and his tv interviews to promote Spare, and all his court cases. Not to mention via Omid Scobie in Finding Freedom, Endgame and all his other content.

For anyone who is interested is seeing that source material, there has been more than enough of coverage of Meghan herself as she wants to present herself, for people to form their own opinions of her actions.

Absolutely right and it works both ways I hope!

I wish it did. So far it has not been the case. Supporters and fans can be quite vile toward anyone slightly critical of Meghan and Harry. It’s just a relief to have the veil lifted and see that it was a strategy by a group of people with marching orders and talking points.

Ah a faux naive post! Welcome back!

I'm not sure how you didn't understand the purpose of this thread since it's stated very clearly in the title and first post. It's about the purported 'ARO'. Just in case that wasn't already clear. So now you know!

Edited

I’m actually serious. Could I very respectfully ask you to answer the question and describe the purpose of this thread please?

Isn’t it basically just an excuse to criticise MM negatively over and over again?

I haven’t read it all so happy to be told I’m mistaken.

Is offering an alternative opinion seen as manipulative nowadays? Surely it’s just an alternative viewpoint?

This comes across as disingenuous at best.

It's not the act of stating an opinion that is the issue

I don’t know anything about a strategy. I am expressing a personal, instinctive dislike of one person being piled on repeatedly in the media.

Criticise her negatively?

As opposed to criticising her positively?

I'm not going to indulge your faux naivete. I get that you're desperate to turn this thread into yet another circular pointless argument about Meghan's 'treatment'. Couldn't you start your own thread instead of trying to hijack this one while pretending otherwise?

@Serenster - excellent post.

I was replying to the statement that my post came across as manipulative because I described MM as a young mother which I think is a little unfair tbh.

I disagree it’s manipulative because, being in my sixth decade, that’s how I see her. And I think anyone raising young children has stress enough in their lives without being pilloried in the media.

It's like motherhood and apple pie.

Everyone agrees with that.

But you are bringing in antipathy towards things that are not happening here in this discussion which is deflecting the thread.

Do you have a view on the launch of American Riviera Orchard? If you have an insight into how the timelines are working, which explains the benefits of lengthening gap since the first launch with signs of neither products nor content, I think that would be interesting. Because I don't know this sector, but what we've seen seems rather atypical. Brands usually want to build momentum, not let it dissipate

OK I see you are not prepared to answer the question.

You wrote about opinions being allowed and I replied to that.

I also don’t like people being piled on, but find it obvious that if a couple keep attacking and criticizing others they will get some of it handed back to them.

Doubly so if they are found to have been complicit and perhaps the orchestrating a full on social media assault targeting their own family.

I was responding to Oliver Twisted. Their post linked some conspiracy theory to the Sussex Squad. I said it makes sense.

Anyone else prefer not to indulge the obvious derailer?

mythbuster88 · 09/04/2024 17:02

I honestly don’t think a few individuals (far too old enough to know better) taking to chat forums each day is going to impact the lives of this young (relative to their average critic) royal couple. But it’s amusing that some think their actions are so impactful. Meghan still wakes each morning as a member of the royal family and a multi-millionaire with the same influence, and social and business opportunities that few could hope to achieve – despite any derision from people who have far less to boast about. All that, and being incredibly beautiful. That wouldn’t attract much envy, would it? Hmmm...

Back to the “soft launch”, that would normally include a handful of products being offered. A local restaurant did a soft launch of a new location. That meant a few days open by invitation to existing customers and a sampling of their menu.

ARO hasn’t launched, they just threw up an little promo.

So you think that multimillionaire members of the Royal family are above criticism?

You're right, it wouldn't.

I don't go around feeling envy towards complete strangers, but if I were so inclined, Meghan would not inspire such emotions.

Are you suggesting envy is the reason for the criticism?
