To continue the discussion...

What next? What did the launch aim to achieve? Did it get the desired result?

That white outfit was so deeply inappropriate, parents were there because their children had committed suicide and Meghan thought she would wear an off the shoulder number more suited to a cocktail party. She would have made sure her outfit matched the chair and backdrop, it’s all about Meghan and nothing about the actual event.

IsoldeWagner · 11/04/2024 17:24

She really does have a problem dressing appropriately. She wears wildly expensive clothes and accessories, yet often looks a bit unkempt.

*Why do they think they’re best placed to advise on online bullying?

Because they have receipts for online bullying? 🤣

Looks like the Bouzy new Twitter narrative is that Meghan put ARO on hold because Catherine is ill. Anyone believe that?

Maybe Catherine will be making the jam?

LumiB · 11/04/2024 17:48

I'm sure I read somewhere his money has been sitting in a trust and he doesn't have access to all of it all at once so if it's been invested wisely then it will have grown over time to.

It's been what, almost 4yrs since they left and I think most said they wouldn't even last a year I know I was sceptical but they have. How much longer will their money last who knows 🤷‍♀️ nut like everyone else they will then have to cut back accordingly.

Not just that. Banging on about motherhood being the most important thing to her - to parents who have lost their kids.

Harry had never had to cut back and i can’t imagine Meghan would want to now that she has had a taste of such an expensive lifestyle.

Geebray · 11/04/2024 15:16

No, it's her. Prince Harry is was far more of the British persuasion.

Whereas Meghan is all about "following a thing purposefully in order to fully achieve aimful outcomes".

You forgot “authentic”. There needs to be an “authentic” in there …

I'd say he had had to since he is no longer living off money from Charles but wider perspective no I suppose not right now however if the money doesn't last they might not have a choice.

Oh god yes. And "lived experience".

Quite ridiculous. We’re all known Catherine has been seriously ill since January when it was announced she’d had abdominal surgery, necessitating a 2 week hospital stay and 3 month convalescence. Clearly, not a minor condition, whatever it was.

EdithWeston · 11/04/2024 18:54

It seems a curious sort of reason - why would she put her life on hold for an uncertain duration because of some further adverse news about SIL's health some 10 days after your launch (especially as SIL has been on sick leave since major surgery for about 8 weeks before that)

And is there really no mention of KC in this? FIL to her, but Harry's actual father, also being treated for cancer, starting about 5 weeks before launch

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/04/2024 19:00

Quite

The whole ridiculous assertion's been thoroughly debunked already just based on the timelines, but maybe it's finally dawned on H&M that William will be holding the purse strings all too soon and that their prospects might decline if they don't pretend to be mending fences?

FlouncetteLaFroth · 11/04/2024 19:03

Everything is self serving with that pair.

Pretence won't cut it.

What the Sussex Squad, or even the wider public, think isn't going to compare to the actual substance of the real family relationships where pretence isn't possible.

Spot on once again, Edith, but having repeatedly trashed the family I suspect pretence is just about all H&M have left

Is it after all something they employ regularly, and it's not as if they can say "we didn't mean it" or even "the media misrepresented us" when it concerns their own words and actions

Geebray · 11/04/2024 19:32

OMG. I just looked up that Bouzy man on Twitter/X after you mentioned him. So apparently Prince William and Kate's mother had a quiet drink in a local pub in Norfolk this week, near Anmer Hall. This is what Bouzy has just posted about it:

So, let me see if I understand this correctly. The British press wants Meghan Markle to delay launching her lifestyle brand because Kate was diagnosed with cancer, but William is hanging out at pubs while his wife battles cancer? Y'all really hate Black women.

And obvs I thought "How disgusting! How could anyone post that, however much they like Meghan?"!!!

And then I remembered. You get paid, on Twitter/X, for how much people interact with your posts... He's a grifter. A shouting head. Scobie on steroids.

Edited

Yep, so many ads in his feed if you scroll through it.

He is also using X to promote his “competing” software. Quotes because it will never get off the ground and it’s already had a major security breach. He has thrown people off his “platform” for questioning him and even for offering their assistance. I won’t click on it ever because I am afraid for my own data security.

Serenster · 11/04/2024 19:43

Also on twitter, apparently William and Carole heading out for a quiet drink in a Norfolk country pub means he and Catherine are clearly divorcing.

I have no idea how that is a reasonable deduction, but there you go….

At the Jubliee (I'm pretty sure it was the Jubllee) I watched a bit of the live coverage where the Royals were all milling about waiting for their onwards ride.

Charlotte was bobbing around happily in the crowd, very relaxed and having a good time. At one point she turned around, all happy face, looked up to see Aunty Meghan smiling down at her. Immediately dropped the smile and scurried very quickly back to her mum.

That was an authentic moment, and very telling about relations between the two brothers' families.

Another such moment was the funeral walkabout where, before they set off, while they were standing by the cars. Catherine glares at Meghan (an if-looks-could-kill look) while Meghan looks extremely sheepish and uncomfortable.

EdithWeston · 11/04/2024 20:06

I cannot for the life of me work out where he got the idea that the "British public" want her to do anything of the sort.

I've seen criticism of launching on the day of the Diana awards, and criticism that now, weeks on from the launch, there are no signs of further activity - and that to me suggests that the expectation was that she should be getting on with it!

He's just making it up. Nowhere in the British media has anyone said Meghan should delay ARO.

He's said it because the launch has been an absolute damp squib and he needs to deflect the blame. Also he's trying to discredit the British media because he knows UK journalists are now looking into him and the Sussex Squad.

Anyway, looks like Meghan isn't delaying anything.

"Cooking, gardening, entertaining and friendship"

"US Open polo"

Unscripted.

Can't wait.

IsoldeWagner · 11/04/2024 20:36

How will those subjects fill a Netflix series?
I suppose it'll sort of be an "At home with the Sussexes" with affiliate links. She'll sell you the garden or kitchen products, I reckon.
The polo one sounds strange. I'm not sure how Harry could make a programme about that
It all sounds a bit barrel scraping, tbh.

Abouttimeforanamechange · 11/04/2024 20:51

Is she intending to present this cooking and gardening show? What knowledge or expertise would she bring to it? What would make it different from all the many other cooking and gardening shows that have gone before?

MrsFinkelstein · 11/04/2024 21:03

Is Netflix known for cookery shows?

I'm assuming she'll be going for an Ina Garten/Martha Stewart type show. Have they ever been on Netflix?

These are popular types of shows (I'm obsessed with Nigella & Delia), and while they're popular, it is quite a niche market - and as with their counterparts in the US, it took years to build up to their levels of success.

It's a new thing for Netflix as far as I know, so it'll be interesting to see how they pitch it.
