What exactly is "the Sussex Squad"?

1000 replies

Prydddan · 06/04/2024 14:56

I don't know whether this is too controversial a topic for such a thread to be allowed to stand. But I post in good faith on a topic I believe has a lot of social and political relevance.

Does the "Sussex Squad" actually exist? If so, how do you join? If not, do people ever identify as belonging to it?

If it exists, was it hijacked by SarahData and Bouzy or was it their creation? And, if so, to what extent?

Thanks in advance.

@YourTruthorMine It has been nice to see some different posters on the board with a different tone.

I don't know, as I don't appear to be as familiar with this board as you. I notice some of the more aggressive posters missing, and the tenor of posting has changed, save for a few remnants. I cba to check up on them, and tbh I am glad to be rid of their noisy clamour.

We don't know whether that's because they're Sussex Squad or not, but it's absolutely relevant to this thread. If you have insider info, do share!

The W&K 'supporters' are doing as they were requested to do, respecting their privacy! Something the Sussex squad and their supporters would do well tbe taking on board when they're putting negative connotations on a man whose wife is going through cancer treatment goes for a drink with his MIL, and same man takes his little boy to the footie!!! Disgraceful!

So if you don't know if they are or aren't then until it's known shoukd falsely assume they are.

I'm not that familiar I've popped into a few of the other threads active on here and noticed some more positive style comments.

If we are glad not to hear from them as you say why are wonder why they have gone. Afterall aren't they just respecting your wishes not to want to have to hear their noisy clamour.

Very strange to say you don't want to hear from them then speculate why they have disappeared, bit like telling someone you don't want to hear from them again but them complaining when you don't.

I scratch my head when I hear who are they/leave them alone/don’t talk about them/unfamiliarity yet having a pronounced and usually garbled opinion on it all.

It is like one of those word puzzles again.

Oh don't be so disingenuous! I'm glad not to have their ridiculous justifications any more but I am puzzled as to why they have stopped making them! I am certainly not complaining that they have gone because the discussions are way more interesting without their nonsense claims!

Your first sentence makes zero sense and the rest of your post is not much more clear!!

I see M&H have been out at the polo. Her outfit looks like badly fitted bandages, and the height of the heels for walking on grass is nuts! She really doesn't have a sense of style does she? And I bet it cost a clean fortune!

LumiB · 13/04/2024 01:05

Well it's pretty simple if you're telling them you don't want to hear their ridiculous justification then why would they continue to post..not that puzzling why they have stopped then is it.

If someone told me I don't want to hear from you, you're being ridiculous then fine I'll fuck off and spend my time doing something else.

No one is bullying or shutting down.

That, quite amusingly, seems to have stopped lately.

It is natural to question the absence of some given recent revelations but it reads to me that no-one is asking for people back - just questioning the absence. That is it.

I don’t know what you are trying to suggest with your comments of ‘die hard royals’ and ‘so-called “buddies” looking at their own behaviour’ either.

That reads to me as though it is being suggested that other people should not question anything or indeed profess an opinion.

It could be argued that that is shutting down posters too.

You don’t have to be a royalist or republican to recognise that the actions of certain individuals/the Sussex Squad has been nothing short of shameful.

IsoldeWagner · 13/04/2024 07:15

No-one is bullying anyone on here.
Believe me, the posters on here would call that out.

Well it’s never stopped them before ! I have posted on threads where I have criticised H and M’s behaviour and the immediate pile on from Sussex supporters made me think there was some sort of behind the scenes agreement.
I am not going to name posters but there are some formerly prolific posters strangely silent whereas in the past , the merest hint of a criticism would have had them accusing you of being a hater , a racist , a forelock tugger, DM reader ( I am)etc etc

I think it was glaringly obvious that during the period before the diagnosis was announced that there was an orchestrated campaign on SM which spilled over to MN. It started in the usual place and was designed to bring the rumours into the MSM. It shocked me that most of it was allowed to stand on here and that posters pointing out the malign intent of someone with a new username posing solidly for up to 18 hours a day were getting deleted. Maybe they finally got banned, or maybe they just fucked off after their work was done.
It is a bit more interesting and therefore natural to ponder the absence of long standing posters who on the face of it seemed ‘normal’ if somewhat passionately attached to defending H&M. I mean it doesn’t really seem that ‘normal’ in retrospect, to post quite so prolifically and almost exclusively in one topic. Or to be quite so aggressive, and yet so sensitive that every thread would be at least partially derailed by accusations of bullying and a seemingly coordinated defence. I don’t know, it’s a mystery.

You know what this childish mean girl behaviour that I see on this thread and other ones is why actually ill fuck off too. Don't worry you won't hear from me either.

No wonder other long term posters have too, I see that now.

Funny how lots of anti meghan and Harry mumsnetters spend so much time on here bitching and moaning but that seems to be okay since you only.point the fingers at pro meghan supporters.

It’s language like this, I’m not pro or anti anyone, I wouldn’t take much notice of Harry or Meghan if they had not invited me in by selling themselves and their family. Most people do not label themselves, it’s extremely difficult to converse with a “pro” supporter it’s like talking to a swifty about great vocalists.

I’m not on MN regularly posting a certain number of posts per month exclusively in one topic. If I post something that others disagree with I don’t have a posse of defenders to come flying to my aid, not just to defend my opinion but to defend me personally and accuse others of attacking me. I’m more interested in this as a phenomenon on what is ostensibly a parenting forum than slagging off H&M, although I do think their behaviour is repugnant.

Prydddan · 13/04/2024 10:42

So, page 29 and the accusations of persnal attacks derailing, bullying, belittling are in spate.

Even though this has, up to this point, been one of the most civilised I have read in a long time on the RF forum.

While I wouldn't dream of telling people what (not) to post, please think hard before responding to the accusations that are now cropping up. I'm seeing a familiar pattern of tag-teaming and attempts to start a fight.

It was good while it lasted, and the last ones were a bit more subtle.

There is only one person doing that as far as I can see.

But point well made @Prydddan
