What exactly is "the Sussex Squad"?

I don't know whether this is too controversial a topic for such a thread to be allowed to stand. But I post in good faith on a topic I believe has a lot of social and political relevance.

Does the "Sussex Squad" actually exist? If so, how do you join? If not, do people ever identify as belonging to it?

If it exists, was it hijacked by SarahData and Bouzy or was it their creation? And, if so, to what extent?

Thanks in advance.

There is also their horrific trolling and bullying behaviour on Twitter to other users who have been hounded in real life but the insane core of the Sussex Squad.

I also wouldn’t characterise the disgusting rumours they were all spreading during the first part of the POW illness as just the usual tribalistic Twitter nonsense. It was a coordinated attempt to destroy the credibility of PPOW- which is a concern because he is our next head of state.

The people involved in this are obviously too stupid to understand the seriousness of what they’re doing. Or they do and it is a deliberate attempt to destabilise the British system of government by overseas actors. All the prime Sussex squad live in the US.

themessygarden · 06/04/2024 19:10

Good question, I am only recently coming to understand who they are purported be.

So far, what I can figure out is that, basically, the 'Sussex Squad' are so called 'superfans' of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who have in their efforts to support MM and PH, declare any ciriticism of them as being racist, they are hateful to anyone who doesn't like PH and MM, as I said they usually use race baiting in that effort, they have started despicable rumours about the Royal Family, in particular Prince William and Catherine, and it is becoming clearer, by the day, they are behind the vitriol against Princess Catherine during her cancer diagnosis.

Shockingly, It has since become apparent, that the Sussex Squad are allegedly very closely linked to Prince H and MM via this Christopher Bouzy guy, defacto head of Sussex Squad, who was a participant in their Netflix show, the Harvard lawyer who received a very nice donation from Archewell, all of who spew awful abuse and non facts about William and Catherine. There is also the recent visit to the home of a nephew of a Uvalde victim, who tags himself as Sussex Squad, as well as also writing awful mysogynistic and abusive tweets about random things (although he is only 21 yo in comparison to the much older Bouzy and Harvard head of Inclusion.) .

Prince Harry and MM have publicly thanked 'the Sussex Squad ' for contributions to their charities, (Sentabale) and have contributed funds to various efforts by the so called 'Sussex Squad'.

There is more, but it is more conjecture than facts, but it is looking like it will all eventually come out, maybe not today or tomorrow but there is certainly a view that it is all a very orchestrated effort that is not very far removed from H&M.

@Prydddan Are you from the USA? We have a Prime minister here in the UK so I’m not sure who you referring to as the next Head of State? Biden (assuming re-elected) or Trump for example?

I am.in the UK. Our current Head of State is Charles. The next Head of State will be William (barring unforseen stuff).

The Sussex Squad have been credited for whipping up negative SM coverage of Catherine and William's Jamaica tour. Then, including Omid Scobie, praising Harry and Meghan for hob nobbing with the Jamaican PM who was openly hostile and to W&C and publicly humiliated them. The Hill wrote an article about it and the destabilising effect the dismantling of cooperative international relationships like the Commonwealth has on world politics, with China and Russia happily trying to jump in to those voids - this is a serious centre left publication, not prone to celebrity gossip.

This would all be amusing, were it not for the serious damage Harry and Meghan continue to inflict upon the national security of the United Kingdom and its Commonwealth partners, and by extension to the U.S., with their effective promotion of Russian and Chinese propaganda.

H&M, cheered on by the SS, have also taken it upon themselves to interfere in politics in Canada relating to the indigenous tribes. Not their place to get involved in this and give the impression that they are making promises on behalf of the head of state.

Thanks @IcedPurple so this is something to do with William then (as the next in line to be King). I’m not exactly sure why it can’t be said outright? But to repeat my question, why do this group of people have political and social consequences for William?

I thought there was some political scandal brewing that I had missed, but I am beginning to think this is just a made-up story by some people talking together on the internet who happen to support one side of the royal family about some other people also talking together on the internet who are supporting the other side.

Because he is the next Head of State. And they are attempting to trash him as an adulterer and spread variois other rumours.

Head of State is a political appointment. So undermining him has potentially political consequences.

It’s quite scary stuff. Destabilising the U.K. by SM.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 06/04/2024 19:15

The Sussex Squad is also tied closely to BLM and their agenda for slavery reparations, which of course the British RF is always in the firing line for.

Thanks @Vespanest and @Turtlerussell .

I am trying to work out why theTeam H&M voices on the SM I follow ( not very many sites at all) are suddenly quiet following Wootton's YouTube thing. If these regular voices were just ordinarly individuals with strong opinions on a subject, they'd be posting still on Wootton's allegations. I'd love to hear their take on the situation.

Thanks, @Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar and @Turtlerussell for that detail.
Shocking and worrying.
I couldn't believe Harry and Meghan taking it upon themselves to meet with indigenous representatives of Canada! As if they represented the Commonwealth still. Extraordinary. Arrogant and foolish.

Edited

So how have these variois interested parties been able to hijack a Team H & M thing to create international mayhem?

That is a rhetorical question.

But the Sussexes do seem to have found a place as useful idiots ( probably naive) for various political movements.

I wonder how (if) the Britsh government will seek to manage the situation.

Isn't the Commonwealth Ambassador a First Nations woman? Shouldn't she have had a role?

I did wonder about the BLM thing, and whether that influenced the decision to accuse (but they didn't - it was the British press apparently) the RF of racism. I wonder if MM's "cause" would have taken off like it did if she hadn't made the accusations of racism.

What I find sad ( and disconcerting) is that people whom I was reading and interacting with (now and then) in good faith and treating as individuals - let me repeat that, individuals - with an individual take on a subject....apparently, they weren't acting 8n the same good faith.

If one had dropped off, I don't think I'd have noticed. But a whole "side" of a debate, all gone AWOL at the same time, within days of Wootton's expose?!

What are we dealing with.

From what I understand a bunch of nutcases invading forums in support of Meghan and Harry. Anyway all the furore seems to have died down a bit. The interest in them has tailed off considerably I'd say.

Maybe even die hard fans are finding much of their behaviour indefensible.

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 06/04/2024 19:59

It is the stupidest of all stupid things to do. As if intelligence services aren’t well aware who these people are and where they get their money and ideas.

Vespanest · 06/04/2024 20:00

There is a large amount of anti Meghan rhetoric on SM but unlike the Sussex squad they tend not present themselves as a support group but have varying reasons to post, those that have attached themselves as William and Catherine supporters are generally outnumbered to the Sussex squad. The Sussex squad have to retort to the term derangers in tackling trolling which is not as impactful when targeting William or Catherine. The Sussex squad hashtag is a badge of honour and a insult at the same time and was not the best PR move.

Mylovelygreendress · 06/04/2024 20:03

I am amazed that this thread is still standing . And even more amazed that the Sussex supporters haven’t swooped in !

I made the mistake of asking once would they not be better, as supporters, of H&M, highlighting their work rather than just badmouthing anyone who said they liked the RF. One lovely woman called me a bitch, said she'd track me down & punch me in the face.

They took great delight recently in creating a hashtag with a nickname about PoW hair which they tried to get trending.

Although I did notice on Twitter most of them switch off the ability to reply to their posts so basically a bunch of online bullies
