What exactly is "the Sussex Squad"?

I don't know whether this is too controversial a topic for such a thread to be allowed to stand. But I post in good faith on a topic I believe has a lot of social and political relevance.

Does the "Sussex Squad" actually exist? If so, how do you join? If not, do people ever identify as belonging to it?

If it exists, was it hijacked by SarahData and Bouzy or was it their creation? And, if so, to what extent?

Thanks in advance.

Oh bless, they think the UK is one island? Well, isn't that just adorable?

“Isle and Islanders” such a weird attempt to diminish the UK, too.

I was about to say that Australia's an island too but it turns out it's too big a landmass to be an island, it's a continent. Or island continent, if you want to be picky.

Maybe if Harry spends a night in a royal residence, the ghosts of Queen Mary, the Queen Mother, and the late Queen will appear like the ghosts in "A Christmas Carol" to teach him the error of his ways.

Harry invited us into his life, it’s the stupidity that he expects he can close the door when he wants to. I hope he is having a happy and fulfilled life, but he’s an object of gossip not because of the bad British media but because he sold his story and chances are he’ll do it again. The poster claimed this is about the media, the irony is the person they support is the media. There was many third party people whose privacy was invaded, everything he and his supporters are supposedly against.

I think this sums it up.

Oh dear...the impression I got from reading about Harry pre-Meghan was that he couldn't keep his girlfriends - they, quite reasonably, dumped him when they decided they didn't want the gig!

I’m of a slightly different opinion cantata

I reckon that they dumped him once they realised they would be stuck with him and the gig.

I reckon the gig would have been bearable or even enjoyable to them. Being stuck with druggiebollocks? Not so much.

IsoldeWagner · 10/04/2024 21:44

Didn't Cressida suggest that he was really self absorbed?

There's a really good clip of William talking about the media where he explains that once you invite them in you can't push them out again. It's a line that can never be uncrossed. He didn't put it like that he was a lot more eloquent.

I don't think Harry has quite grasped that if you show people pictures of your son in the bath, talk about your wife weeing in a bush and about yourself in a field with a young lady, you have invited the media and the public into private areas and it's hard to get them out again. Many of their decisions after leaving the family crossed the line and they can't uncross it.

It’s so diminishing of actual island people.

BemusedAmerican · 10/04/2024 22:51

Like people on Manhattan Island, Long Island ( which houses both Brooklyn & Queens), etc. Insult 4 of the 5 boros while you are at it.

100%

Someone on MN a while ago speculated that Harry has always been a massive cockwomble and that the cheeky chappy persona that we saw for so long was a very carefully curated image and his people just suppressed his true self very well

Then when he married and his rank was elevated, and he wasn’t getting his way, he let his true self shine

I think that’s pretty spot on

YaMuvva · 10/04/2024 23:30

I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole of Twitter Sussex Squad who think either:

  • William has killed Kate, the cancer video was an AI bot and the Duke of Gloucester (31st in line to the Throne)will be regent to Prince George while William is in prison. It hilarious because when people ask (regarding this so called regency) ‘how can that happen’ and they say ‘who knows!’. WE know you fucking thickos
  • Or they believe Kate has cancer and is being a lazy bitch by not working through it

I have to say after H&M had a tantrum that members of the RF don’t publicly defend them when a journalist says something a bit mean, the fact they are staying quiet when people are using their name to spout vitriol about a young mum battling cancer, is very telling. I actually think they both have personality disorders. to be SO self centered and expecting everyone to constantly feel sorry for you, but to never ever return the empathy, smacks of either personality disorder or just to be plain old nasty fuckers

Thatsthewayitisnt · 10/04/2024 23:37

Neither Kate nor Meghan are young mothers, but the rest I agree with.

YaMuvva · 10/04/2024 23:41

She is a young mum when it comes to having a life threatening illness

Are there no articulate members of the Sussex squad? Do they all lack basic punctuation skills, the ability to engage in a measured but persuasive discussion and demonstrate they can see the other side’s points of view but argue it politely?

The biggest difference seems to be how utterly humourless they are. At least the majority of those on here who would argue that M&H have engaged in some revolting hypocrisy and whingeing for money are able to be witty about it.

I don't think they'd be Sussex squad if they were articulate, tbh...

I agree neither can be called young mums. It is widely considered a young mum is someone who is a parent under the age of 25.

We can say they are mums with young children though.

Kate is young to have cancer though.

When W appears with K rarely these days, they are as cold as ice, and the anger K has to him is evil, though I'm not surprised. Look back at last year photos

Clearly we're looking at different photos then because the photos & videos I've seen show the opposite.
