It seems to have gone the same way as their Sussex Royal site. I don't know much about social media or PR, but this all seems pretty odd and ineffectual.

I think she might come. She will be scared of the reaction, the boos , but it will be a tussle with the need for the publicity. Invictus always tends to be positively handled in the press. I think that’s what will spring her to come.

MaisieMacabe · 03/04/2024 20:37

She will need the publicity, and all the interest in her fashion. Invictus is their biggest thing, it's like a full on royal event for them.

Unless you have a career as an actor or musician, can you name a single person who has fame and fortune and who DOESN'T have an entire machine behind them? That's what the WME's of the world are paid for. MM's comparator is those people. She doesn't feel the need to put in the work, because nobody else does. Indeed, I imagine she feels that WME or Spotify or Netflix have been remiss in their duties to her because they haven't managed to pull a cat out of a hat for her.

Celebrities have talked about the pressure of having a whole team behind them, however. How having a team running your production company or your business means that a whole load of salaries and livelihoods are depending on you to keep producing whatever it is that you do. And when your content to date has been yourself, that means you are the one that has to keep on producing. That’s a whole heap of pressure. And if it doesn’t work - like Pearl, or Archetypes, that quite a few people out of a job…

I recently watched Dave Chappelle being interviewed by Oprah about why he walked away from his $50M deal.

It was eye opening. It’s also said to be when he looked at her in a new light.

It was not the pressure so much of managing the people as the people trying to manage and control him. Huge respect for him.

Given Harry's self confessed and widely publicised drug use, I should think a lot of brands, whether corporate or individual, won't want to work with him, because of possible damage to their reputation.

Isn't it now claimed to be exaggerated or made up or some such in the interests of adding spice to his rather dull memoir?

He's golden 😏😜

Invictus is their biggest thing

Unfortunate then that it's overshadowed with questions about expenses.

I wonder if his story of how or where he met M is also a misremember/imaginary scenario then?

How can you possibly state that is an accurate account if you are falling back on excuse for some things that are now an inconvenient truth?

The Invictus event in May is a church service at St Paul's, isn't it? I don't think there's much attraction in that sort of event for Meghan, to be honest. I very much doubt the children will appear either. Too much to expect a couple of little ones to deal with, especially ones not used to it. The difference for children in the RF is that they get used to these types of (boring for a child) event from a young age, and the family has a structure of personnel and procedure around them for the kids to be taken out if needs be. I don't think H&M will have the equivalent as their kids don't go with them to their visits/events.

katebushh · 03/04/2024 21:52

Sharon Osbourne is a nasty piece of work, laughing at spiteful jokes is bullying in children, adults is no different...some of these comments are foul.

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 03/04/2024 21:52

She'll come. It's a power play. Catherine is out of action, hence the increase in faux royal visits. She thinks there is a vacuum she can slide into. There isn't.

thenightsky · 03/04/2024 22:12

I think M thought she was getting a deal. Free palace, free designer clothes and lots of servants she could boss around in exchange for turning up and waving a bit every now and then

But she did have exactly that and chose to walk. She could have had it all. It was on a plate on the day she married Harry.

She had all that but she wanted it on her terms

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 03/04/2024 22:20

I have to admit that I find H&M endlessly fascinating. They had everything on a golden platter. All they were covered to do were a few appearance in exchange for clothes budgets, a beautiful cottage and access to the upper echelons. And they somehow decided it was all a massive insult and that they were being treated badly.

It is just so bemusing and unbelievable. I cannot understand why they ever thought that they could set up a rival court in the US that centred on faux humanitarian ventures and luxe wellness. If they’d really wanted to make a difference then they would have stayed where they had some power and influence.

It’s arguably the only successful thing they have, hence why I think she will front up, that and the media is always usually positive due to what it is. I don’t think thr kids will come, unless he wants to take them to see Charles.

But right now it’s clear they are trying to be royal so they might bring the kids and do a visit to Charles. Give an image of happy families and the caring son.

Abouttimeforanamechange · 03/04/2024 22:26

All they were covered to do were a few appearance in exchange for ... a beautiful cottage.....

They could have had a country estate; the Queen reportedly offered one as a wedding present - they could have had their own Gatcombe, Highgrove or Anmer. But proper rural life with muddy boots probably wasn't on the agenda.

slippedonabanana · 03/04/2024 22:51

I agree that they seem like two embarrassing, work shy grifters who would sell any tat to make a dollar.

However, Harry has implied that either Charles or William's office fed negative stories about himself and Meghan to prevent stories about William or Andrew being published. If that's true, it woud change my view of them leaving the royal family. But, as usual, Harry hints but doesn't have the balls to name names.

What negative stories? Most of the negative stories have come from things they themselves have said or done.
