King Charles support of his daughter(in law) is so very touching.

Please keep the comments positive and on topic. We have all had enough vitriol for weeks now.

Sadly @AliceOlive , this is why we can't have nice things! 😭

ArcaneWireless · 25/03/2024 13:25

Be more Catherine indeed. Class says it all.

I’m sure you wouldn’t see her schmoozing and sliming round someone who made a mint from her daughter getting all jiggy.

Although that kind of marketing and business nous may come in very handy over the pond one day.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 25/03/2024 13:26

The same people who say she can speak for herself about the way she dresses and acts are the same people who have not afforded her an iota of agency in how comms relating to her illness has been handled, and in her taking responsibility for the mothers' day photo; and are insistent she has been "thrown under the bus" (to quote that dog amongst men, Christopher Bouzy) by her husband and the mysterious "KP". Make your minds up.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 25/03/2024 13:28

@AliceOlive Apologies for rising to the bait on your lovely, positive thread. Shame it can't be respected, at the request of the OP, as other such threads are on this board.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 25/03/2024 13:34

I think bland and boring is pretty clever if you're royal. It means people can project onto you whatever they want you as a RF member to be and you can preserve some personal anonymity in a life that's suffocatingly public. Look at the late queen - you can't tell me she wanted to sit through all those things she sat through and attended and gave presence to but she did and there was hardly a hint of what she really thought. So people thought 'oh great, we went to all that effort and HM really enjoyed it!' and were dead chuffed that their effortd were appreciated, and even if she didn't she wouldn't have dreamed of showing it. And I reckon Kate has adopted the same attitude because she and the RF have seen that's what people want.

IcedPurple · 25/03/2024 13:38

Salemforcuddles · 25/03/2024 13:17

Some might call it bland, I would call it having class. In a world of TOWIE, Love Island and Kim Kardashuan she stands out a mile, if that's bland then I to want to be that bland

Exactly!

It's a bit like all the posts you see complaining about how Kate has no 'opinions'. I'm sure she very much has opinions, because you know what they say about opinions. They're like a certain part of the anatomy. We all have them. And everywhere we go, we're surrounded by people and their 'opinions', informed or otherwise. One thing there is absolutely no shortage of these days is opinions.

I actually find it quite refreshing to have someone in public life who doesn't insist on foisting their 'precious 'opinions' on the world. I find Kate's quiet stoicism to be reminiscent of the Queen. Keep calm and carry on.

Spectre8 · 25/03/2024 13:45

And presenting that to the world is fine but if people call it bland and boring it's not exactly assassinating her character since that's not who she really is. That's just the public image she portrays.

Again, I’ve asked for this thread to be positive. You have endless other threads where you can chat shit about a sick mother.

My comment was NOT 'talking shit' and I will not be taking lessons from you on how to talk about any woman.

Beautifully put as ever, MrsD, especially the bit about W&K taking their example from the late Queen

I've said this before, but not for nothing did she invite William for all those teas when he was at Eton; seeing what elder son had made of things, she probably wanted to do whatever she could to avoid a repeat

BigWillyLittleTodger · 25/03/2024 13:54

Isn’t it amazing that the a so called bland and boring woman is probably the most famous woman in the world, she doesn’t even have to try, she just is.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 25/03/2024 13:56

The thing is, Catherine's not bland and boring. She's clever, very artistic, very sporty, plays the piano beautifully, always has a go at challenges (not afraid to get stuck into the things on camera and have a good laugh at herself), seems to charm everyone she meets, is absolutely wonderful with children, is successful in her role in soft diplomacy, is deeply involved in some great causes, seems to have a laugh/dance/drink with her friends and family in her off duty time, and looks beautiful on every occasion. What is bland about any of that?

RedRosesPinkLilies · 25/03/2024 14:01

I actually think that’s a huge part of the problem. She doesn’t even need to try. It must be galling.

You say she has had her character assainated called boring, bland but let's be honest she has curated that image of herself. Can you honestly say that is who she really is of course not. She presents a bland and boring version of herself.

Or, put another way, she presents a professional version of herself, as do doctors, lawyers, business people etc etc.

It's not a fault - it's a skill and an understanding of the requirements of the role. She knows the job is not about her as an individual, but about a symbolic and ceremonial role. A clever, astute and wise woman!

I totally see why she made the statement about the edit.

We already had the proof of life bullshit.
People saying no one has seen her, bearing in mind people at that time kept banging on about the Spanish press saying she was in a coma.

So then a composite image is released, people say her face was added in, she’s not in the pic.
And then a message from their office saying it was edited. Or just from William.

Can you imagine how fucking batshit everyone would have gone? (Even more so than they did)
That no-ones seen her, she’s dead, Williams offed her etc.

Her ‘taking the blame’ (whether it was her or not) was definitely the smartest choice imo.

It wasn’t throwing her under the bus, imo, if anything it was protecting the family from the outright hysteria that would have come.
And we saw enough hysteria as it was, but that would have paled in comparison

Absolutely in a world of Kardashians be more Catherine.

Yes!

MummyJ12 · 25/03/2024 14:34

Her battle with cancer hasn’t made her a superstar, she was one already and she will continue to be. The worldwide attention and media frenzy has proven that.
The King is rightly proud of his daughter-in-law. She has handed the shit show of the past few weeks with a grace and dignity not many of us could manage.
Absolutely in a world of Kardashians, be more Catherine, Princess of Wales.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 25/03/2024 14:38

This picture really struck a chord with me at the time, it was Catherine’s first public appearance after being named the alleged royal racist by Scobie, I remember thinking she looked quite vulnerable and how William looked so protective of her, we now know she was also having serious health issues to contend with which would have added to the enormous stress she must have been feeling, yet she still faced the world, what strength of character she has, no wonder Charles and William are so proud of her.

Just catching up.

All I'm going to say is that certain posters who weren't happy with positive threads about the Sussexes being derailed don't seem to have the same objections to derailing a positive thread about Catherine.

Funny that.

ArcaneWireless · 25/03/2024 14:55

He seemed absolutely there for her that night.

That took guts by her and I’m pretty sure I would have been wanting to sit home, snaffling chocolate.

Having someone stand right by you, when all the chips are scattered and cruel and bitter vindictiveness is swirling all around, is something I would be deeply thankful for.

I'm not one to judge clothes but that is a fabulous dress !! Almost medieval in style with the sleeves!
