cancer is a devastating illness I lost both my dad and FIL to it. They were older but it was a cruel way for them to go.

And of course Harry threw Kate under the bus. Spare was vengeful in parts. Well you reap what you sow. And spokesman Scobie definitely threw Kate and Charles under a bus.

What a load of twaddle. Kate has cancer, just like gazillions of others. Shes no more special than any of them.

I think this is a mean and thoughtless comment. Yes, many people get cancer but they haven't usually been subjected to years-long campaigns of hatred and sneering, as well as allegations about their marriage. Nor will they have been forced to appear in public looking and behaving immaculately in the face of this barrage.

She's had to put up with her character being assassinated by close relations and branded a racist across the world, with no real right or reply. That alone would make me murderous! Despite not being born into all this public appearance stuff, she's put on a brave face in so many ways.

So many here and elsewhere love to sneer (she's bland, conforming, boring, Stepford Wife-ish etc etc) but I think she's got guts combined with stoicism and grace to keep smiling amidst all of the sniping and I'm impressed by her conduct in the face of all this.

But even with all the rubbish that's been said about here in recent weeks, and now with her cancer diagnosis, some people just can't stop the mean criticism.

I don't agree she is forced to appear looking or behaving immaculate. It's well known she has curated this perfect image of herself and her family. It's within her gift not to that put that expectation on herself. Plenty of other royal members don't.

You say she has had her character assainated called boring, bland but let's be honest she has curated that image of herself. Can you honestly say that is who she really is of course not. She presents a bland and boring version of herself.

And for her right to reply, William and Charles talk of modernising the royal family. Again they have the power to change that, they just don't. She isn't being forced to stay quiet she could speak out if she wanted to.

Nor do I, I think the infantilises her to say that. It's her choice to accept the role, and to dress and perform the way she does. I don't think anyone forces her as such.

Probably because she and the rest of the RF are astute enough to know that's what people want - not a charismatic female lead taking attention away from the major players. They had that in the 90s and it didn't work out terribly well in terms of public perception of them.

Charismatic people can also be dangerous and disruptive people.

And I'm not being negative I'm responding to something someone wrote pointing out I don't think she is forced and she has a choice. I'm repeating what someone else wrote.

I tmdont think it's negative to point out a woman is empowered to make decisions on her life and isn't forced into anything.

Some might call it bland, I would call it having class. In a world of TOWIE, Love Island and Kim Kardashuan she stands out a mile, if that's bland then I to want to be that bland

That’s not the intention behind those who call her bland and boring though, is it? It’s definitely meant to have a negative connotation. Again, words often have a meaning behind them as well as a literal
meaning. We can’t just pay attention to the intent behind words when it suits 🙄
