King Charles support of his daughter(in law) is so very touching.

Please keep the comments positive and on topic. We have all had enough vitriol for weeks now.

Can we just all move on and discuss the thread title? ☕️☕️🍪🍪🍪

My threshold for what constitutes aggressive posting must be lower than it ought in that case. I’ll have to tweak it upwards, or report maybe. But that seems pretty heavy.

ArcaneWireless · 26/03/2024 11:07

Looking forward to see how proud they all are at the spare one being specifically mentioned in P Diddy’s suit. That statement would be somewhat different I expect.

Of all the athletes, musicians, artists, political figures and international dignitaries that could be accessed, they chose to mention only him specifically.

Most odd.

Anyway. Grace, dignity and class. Rare commodities indeed. And why KC made his feelings known about Kate.

It's quite normal for a parent to tell everyone how proud they are of their children, my mother still does it and I'm 53

The more positive messages out there the better, no?

ArcaneWireless · 26/03/2024 11:24

Lucky you salem.

Lucky you salem.

Indeed. Late DM managed to tell everyone how proud she was of me except the one person who really would have liked to know.

@ArcaneWireless @MrsDanversGlidesAgain I'm sorry, yes I am lucky

There were some nice quotes from a story in The Times yesterday floating around, of how Charles could be seen toddling around the hospital on his way to visit Catherine when they were both in for treatment. It’s behind a paywall unfortunately. I find their relationship really touching. You can tell from pictures of the two of them that they are completely at ease with one another. I wonder if Catherine has been the one to help build the bridge between Charles and William? From all accounts I have read, William was his mother’s son and it was Charles and Harry who had the closer relationship. I’m sure her own lovely and close knit family has given her the tools help William with his own family dynamics.

For @ArcaneWireless and @MrsDanversGlidesAgain 💐💐

Thanks so much, people. DM died in 2008 - blimey, 16 years ago - and there is still stuff I'm grappling with on and off.

musthorse · 26/03/2024 11:43

This might seem harsh but do remember this is an anonymous forum and posters can claim anything. I have seen over and over people claim this and that as if somehow that makes their opinions more valid eg I had a hysterectomy and was back mowing the lawn in a week. I am not knocking anyone's personal stories. I just know that people can say anything and in many cases do to provide an on line image - details of families, experiences etc. Last night I watched a Stalker documentary and it is amazing to see the lengths people go to for their own " fun" . Look at Catfish. People use all kinds of techniques to shut down and manipulate reality. Just beware. After all who am I?

I thnik Kate's very secure and loving family has been an absolute godsend to that family and is one of the main reasons William married her. It showed him what a secure loving marriage where the partners aren't kicking lumps out of each other is like, what a family can do when the members have each other's backs - and she strikes me that she feels so secure in herself as a person that she can happily as a conciliator and a mediator, not a stirrer.

I think Catherine certainly helped build a stronger bond between Charles and William, this picture is touching.

Yes.

I thought she was 'so secure in herself' when she sat on that seat and made her statement.

She has had a very great deal going for her as well as setbacks, and I hope the treatment will be something else which goes very well for her.

Another 'Yes'. Charles looks so carefree.

I agree with all of this. And Harry also said Catherine was the big sister he’d always wanted. I’m sure he also benefited a lot from her security and openness. He doesn’t deserve any sympathy, but I do wonder if he’s not a little heartsick about how things have turned out.

Absolutely love this picture! Taken by Catherine, I believe. Clear love and affection between them and their photographer.

Yes, strong, assured, dignified, measured and kind, and not seeking to garner sympathy through drama, histrionics annd recriminations, because she is secure in herself. Makes me so annoyed that some big mouths think she needed to have William sat next to her. Her entire conduct these last couple of months has been a testament to her strength of character.

I think he has to convince himself that Catherine is the big bad wolf to justify his behaviour to himself, it’s a bit like when men leave their wives and follow ‘the script’ demonising the wife and the life they had together which bears no representation to the actual truth, even though it’s all bullshit they tell themselves and anyone else that they had a dreadful relationship. They know deep down they are only lying to themselves but will double down no matter what.

OrchardDoor · 26/03/2024 13:37

I thought it was lovely that he referred to her as his beloved daughter in law

Yes, you’re right, the script really describes it well. He deserves no sympathy for describing William and Catherine’s marriage as some sort of establishment arrangement with no love involved. Considering all the crap Catherine went through for years because of her background it’s absurd. She was hardly from the sort of stock traditional royal matches are made of. It all comes down to her steady personality, and willingness to do the duties she knew she would have to do marrying the future king, that seems to infuriate her detractors. She’s strong where others have been weak, including Harry himself.

Indeed. I’m not sure that’s the adjective my FiL would apply to me on occasions 😆
