I just wanted to share some thoughts I've had since talking to some RL friends last night. I'm a Republican, and didn't actually post much on any of the threads on here. But I did read them, laugh at the ones I found funny and speculated a little IRL. I enjoy robust mental health, but I feel a little sad and down today about the news. And a little guilty. It occurs to me that it might be a real source of distress to some other people. Not the big media ghouls, of course, they have no shame and will just move on to the next thing without looking back, but for those of us who bought in to the whole farrago and maybe posted things we now wish we hadn't. So remember, the media often manipulates us, the establishment often lies to us and it's actually a good thing not to immediately take what we're told at face value. Don't beat yourself up and find someone to talk to if you feel really bad about it. Take care of yourselves.

I'm amazed @RockyandBullwinkle !!!😉

ArcaneWireless · 24/03/2024 13:30

I haven’t the energy or the inclination.

I may as well argue with the bastard fridge.

jeffgoldblum · 24/03/2024 13:31

Ahh but @ArcaneWireless , a fridge is full of useful things like food!!!

AliceOlive · 24/03/2024 13:32

RockyandBullwinkle · 24/03/2024 13:28

I’d take a guess and say probably yes😁. Certainly not my type that’s for sure.

This one?

The Princess of Wales..
ArcaneWireless · 24/03/2024 13:32

I might have more luck with the washing machine.

It goes round and round as well.

This one?

Again that would be a firm ‘No’ from me. Am I being too picky?

"My mother had abdominal cancer they took samples to test. I don't get it."

Not all tissue can be biopsied before an operation.

For example, if a woman has a uterine mass that looks suspicious on ultrasound for leiomyosarcoma it may not be safe or possible to take samples from the mass in order to differentiate between a benign fibroid and a leiomyosarcoma because of the risk of seeding a potential cancer and because not all of the mass may contain cancerous or pre-cancerous changes. The removed mass would be tested for cancerous cells only after the uterus has been removed.

It's not known what type of operation Catherine had or what type of cancer was found after the operation or the cancer staging - it's not relevant to compare with the cancers experienced by family members or their treatments or how they looked or felt once their treatments had begun.

Thanks for this interesting and informative post @guineverehadgreeneyes . It sounds like the timelines between operation and ultimate cancer diagnosis are entirely feasible from what you have written, despite what some commentators may think. I've read about the dangers of seeding cancers elsewhere, pretty scary stuff.

I didn't post to be malicious. When my mum did eventually pass away because of the cancer the doctors were on strike. That particular poster was very knowledgeable as well as thoughtful. I am grateful for her post and knowledge.

I wasn't actually referring to you, I've seen similar things said a few times, and I'm pretty sure CNN had a doctor on saying something similar. I hadn't clocked that is was also you who had talked about your mother's experience in a previous post. I'm very sorry you lost her to cancer and in the circumstances you mention - that must have been indescribably difficult for you.

AliceOlive · 24/03/2024 13:48

What does this mean?

They don't need protecting they will receive the best care and treatments.

The doctors was on strike when my mother passed away because of the cancer treatment she was having at the time (immunotherapy).

I met a lady who was a nurse she's in her 80's and she cares for her disabled husband. Her words were if she left her husband's care to the nurses in hospital his health would have declined quickly and he would have died. She had to check his medical notes and pull up the nurses when they forgot to feed him or administer medicine. They kept on moving him from ward to ward. He's out now thank goodness.

The Royal Family are well protected and cared for. it's us who should be worried if we ever get ill.

I think people are missing the basic point that Katherine, William and their children could be left entirely alone to lead their lives in peace if we had an elected head of state. No one would be interested in them at all if they were ordinary citizens. They wouldn't need a PR strategy. They wouldn't have people trying to access their private medical records. Yes all of the internet trolling and ridiculous conspiracy theories were completely awful, as were some of the Mumsnet threads, but all of these issues arose out of them being members of the RF and them needing to be in the public eye, because that is how the monarchy works. No one seems to be saying this!

And if you got yourself a president the same thing would happen.
Anyone in the public eye is under scrutiny.
In fact there would probably be a lot more conspiracy theories due to one camp wanting to demonise the other.

Thank you it's been a turbulent 12 months. I can't describe how I felt or feel both of my parents are gone. The only comfort I have is that she's at peace.

You will be outnumbered eventually. The RF are not as popular as they once were. When the queen and Philip died that was it. People are fed up of this obsession with the royals. You have to understand that change is coming whether you like it or not.

Oooh look. MN has got its very own Robespierre.

upinaballoon · 24/03/2024 14:36

I do wish posters could write in proper sentences instead of stringing about four together. No, English is NOT a second language for all of them and in my experience other languages have a system of sentence construction, too.

I also wish they'd stop using 'myself' as the first person singular personal pronoun when the perfectly correct 'I' is there all the time.

This morning myself I saw a headline in the Sunday Mail. Sarah Vine was saying she apologises to Catherine. Myself I didn't buy the paper but I thought to myself, "Yes, until the next time."

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 24/03/2024 14:38

AliceOlive · 24/03/2024 13:12

You really think so, dear?

Not bloody school holidays AGAIN, is it? I thought there were a few days left of spring term.

I think poster was asking me if I had daughters because I mentioned Andrew.

No, me neither.

Damn right!!! My hands are clean!
Myself and a lot of the regular rf posters left , only a few brave souls remained to deflect the awful rubbish being posted!

Yes it’s been hard going hasn’t it, I’m very glad to see the regular posters still fighting the good fight 💪and we will continue unabated!
