Kate must be in total shock with all this happening. I'm surprised she doesn't run a mile from royal life.

Tilllly · 20/03/2024 07:46

Yes @OneCornetto
🤦‍♀️

EdithWeston · 20/03/2024 07:53

I repeat that I am curious as to why and how this breach has reached the press and why it seems that the ICO and the hospital are happy to discuss it in detail

Occam's razor: one of them must have known because they're right down in the dirt on this one.

Neither hospital nor Place has commented, nor have Met Police, and the versions I've read only say that ICO has taken action on previous cases (Telegraph version)

So no-one is commenting officially - story seems to have originated with The Mirror.

It's a really shitty disgrace of a situation, and all those who have whipped up this storm should be ashamed of themselves. Including those with wide-eyed false naivety.

Serenster · 20/03/2024 08:00

The hospital will have had to report the incident to the Information Commissioner’s Office and potentially also the Police. It could have been leaked from either of those organisations very easily.

The fact of an investigation is itself not confidential information - the identity of the employees involved is, obviously.

Newsenmum · 19/03/2024 21:15

Haha absolutely.

The whole thing is cuckoo. I bet the RF regret not just telling the truth from the get go. Then literally no one would care.

Also here for all the comments.

What if they did tell the truth? That she had abdominal surgery, that she would be out of action for several months, that she wanted her privacy to be respected.

what if none of that was a lie?

Sadly she’s probably used to it - she had her phone hacked more than 100 time sin the early 2000s, remember, had long-range photos taken of her while on holiday. She knows very well that being part of Royal Family meant her privacy would be constantly attacked, and knew that her being sick and needing surgery would cause intense interest (she said so in her very first statement). And loads of posters here think that’s all perfectly acceptable…

FizzyStream · 20/03/2024 07:44

Nope I don't think her medical details should be public. I just think if they hadn't been SO secretive and then lied in the form of a doctored photograph then the level of media hype would never have got to this point. They knew it would generate too much interest and they made it worse. They could have mitigated some of this complete circus so they aren't entirely blameless.

if you believe her records are private why do you think she should not be secretive. This was blowing up way before the photograph. Even if she had disclosed more the photo would have sparked the same results.

How have they been ‘so secretive’? They stated that she had surgery (abdominal surgery), it was successful and she will be off until Easter. What more do you want to know?

She’s entitled to privacy and letting the public know what SHE wants them to know. It’s not like she’s been missing since January and the palace have left us all wondering what’s happened or where she is. We know the big details, she doesn’t want us to know the specifics and she entitled to that privacy. Am I entitled to know why Louise from down the road has taken 3 months off work because she claims child benefit and I’m a tax payer?

Serenster · 20/03/2024 08:06

Interesting to see how the timeline is being spun in the narrative now. Just a reminder - people were in it initially pleased that the Mother’s Day photo had ben released because it was thought to was quell the intense “Where’s Kate” that was already huge on social media and in commentary (and had already led to the Palace saying “we told you she’ll be back after Easter, nothing has changed”). It turned out to flame it further, but the Palace did not provoke this circus - the public did.

Edited

Partly the public but there’s also an orchestrated campaign which is fuelling the public frenzy. One of the prolific posters on these threads was at it for a solid 18 hours yesterday, repeating conspiracy theories, so clearly not a normal MNer or member of the public. Obviously lots of dimwits falling for it too.

Agree. Either a lot of regular players have name changed or there are a lot of names I don't recognise on these threads.

Yes. But I really don't understand the concept that she knew what she was marrying into as stated above.

No one in 2011 could possibly have known how insane online conspiracy theories would get and how far social media would spread them.

I certainly agree with this - there does seem to have been a campaign. Or all the MN crazies have decided to emerge from the woodwork together!

justasking111 · 20/03/2024 08:59

So many name changes means that you know you're doing something wrong. So many newbies is highly suspicious too.

As for the powers that be getting uppity and pulling a doctored photograph. That's breathtaking hypocrisy when you consider the Kardashian type photos. I'll just leave a one example here

MaturingCheeseball · 20/03/2024 09:10

I just don’t know why MN for the sake of their reputation don’t do something about someone who posts for 18 hours (and however many more hours under different names). I am Miss Gullible but even I can see that there is a kind of team tag where only one name posts and then the next day another with the same style.

The British are so strange.

I've worked it out...

Surgical procedure and love of pegging...

She's had a gender realignment and got the equipment now to do the real deal

It depends on whether it was an attempted breach or an actual breach. If the attempted breach was unsuccessful, the systems worked and there is no need to report to the ICO.

An internal process + disciplinary action will no doubt follow, including police investigation and regulator referral if appropriate.

FWIW I hope they do refer to the police. If not, the incident could be massaged off a CV after a few years of agency work. A criminal conviction on a DBS is harder to hide.

Reminds me of the time when Catherine was in hospital pregnant with George and those Australian radio show presenters pretended to be the Queen in order to get details about her pregnancy. They managed to get through to her nurse and the poor nurse who transferred the call committed suicide due to the shame of falling for the hoax. Only this is worse as this seems like nosey hospital staff trying to provide evidence due to the crazy conspiracy theories circulating at the moment.

This is what it comes down to unfortunately.

These idiots forget that real people are behind all this nonsense.

I love the Mail’s shock and outrage when they would 100% pay for this information and bail out the staff member if they could get the exclusive.

Indeed! I hope her medical records have not been compromised. Poor woman.

@PrettyFlyforaMaiTai I'd forgotten about that poor nurse.
Real people indeed :(

You can guarantee that whoever was trying to access her records had been asked to by a paper for ££££

Well it would have to be somewhere the lawyers couldn't reach. Russia, China, Iran?
