I love the Mail’s shock and outrage when they would 100% pay for this information and bail out the staff member if they could get the exclusive.

No newspaper in the UK would buy/print this information as it would be illegal. Foreign publications might take a different view.

Freakinfraser · 19/03/2024 23:19

No publication in the uk would be able to publish it. So it’s not the uk media. They’d get sued right left and Chelsea and there would be an immediate injunction.

someone thought they could tout it, make a few bob. Or were so desperate to know they checked.

and I note the hospital says at least one staff member, which indicates it could be many more. They thought they could sell it. No media out let would touch it.

its absolutely sickening what’s happening, I’ve never seen lunacy like it. Even all the wailing at Diana’s funeral didn’t come close to this.

and the sick shit posted on line. Divorce, dead , coma, facelift, body doubles, affairs, it’s utterly grim.

womans had abdominal surgery, off for 3 months, palace quite clear. Images coming out now of her out , clearly lost weight due to it, out in private, as she recovers, and the sick shit continues. It’s not her, she looks younger, it’s a body double, she’s had plastic surgery, and people trying to justify their sickness by saying well she photoshopped an image.

wtaf is wrong with people.

gaullimaufry · 19/03/2024 23:22

@MrsDanversGlidesAgain I have to agree with you. People could say this for any woman or man - they knew what they were getting themself into. Victim blaming at its best.

Look, I pay my TV licence I have for years do I think that entitles me to know everyone's medical history who works there? No no it doesn't despite the "fact" that I pay their wages (they cost me more than the royal family) I'm simply not entitled to that information why do people not understand its the same for the royals?

People are taking it too far there are some irate people on the Internet accusing her of manslaughter because the nurse committed suicide when she put a call through its insanity and I don't think "a simple statement or picture" is going to calm things down

Indeed. It’s certainly a sad situation that there are people who act like this.

Serenster · 19/03/2024 23:27

It's not on at all however there wouldn't be all this mystery/conspiracy if they'd been more forthcoming about the reason for her surgery.

No. If true, it’s a professional who will be very clear about their obligations attempting to commit a criminal offence for personal gain. There are no mitigating factors here.

user1745 · 19/03/2024 23:34

Well if that's true somebody has just ended their career for the sake of nosiness. How idiotic.

user1745 · 19/03/2024 23:43

VictorianChic · 19/03/2024 22:43

How could anyone think they’d get away with this. Surely there would be strict monitoring of access to that particular record.

I'm sure there would be, and that might be how this was picked up.

I believe even hospital records for "normal" people log who has accessed them, and if an employee accesses records without a good reason, that's often a sacking offence. Kate's were likely under some additional layers of security to ensure that only specific staff could read them, but any attempt to view them would probably still have been logged.

Ellmau · 20/03/2024 00:01

This kind of thing is surely why they were cagy about the whole thing in the first place.

Everyone is entitled to absolute privacy on medical matters. I think it's appalling that anyone feels entitled to actually know the details (although speculation is inevitable).

Vespanest · 20/03/2024 00:40

There are a few medical procedures that the trolls would have a field day with if Kate was to talk about, it would be awful for her and worse for others who are in the same position. Any good in highlighting would be lost in the abuse. Charles has managed privacy but then he’s not a woman. The idea her medical records could be released is sickening. Plus even if Kate did speak she’d be called a liar.

Tilllly · 20/03/2024 00:55

Oh for goodness sake

She had surgery
She took 3 months out to recover
She's now back out and about

That's the extent of the news story

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 19/03/2024 21:34

Breathtakingly stupid. There goes someone's job.

And their freedom. This should be a jail able offence.

You do get you’re on a thread about the fact at least one person tried to access her private records. Of course this should be simply she had surgery and recovered for three months but there is a proportion of the public who have let their crazy out, so we are discussing the fact it’s not, and some complete weirdos feel they are entitled to more info than simply she had abdominal surgery.

Freakinfraser · 20/03/2024 06:22

I understand the system will show access attempts.

the hospital doesn’t seem to be saying rhey actually accessed, more attempted to. But you never know. The palace also saying it’s a matter for the hospital would indicate they were unable to access as rhey don’t seem overly phased. The hospital says at least one person, which means possibly either multiple people or the same person trying multiple times.

either way it’s a career over. I assume they thought they could get it, sell it, and they’d have enough money they’d not need to work again. As said though, no uk media would publish anything like this, so this isn’t British media,

I think it’s someone, maybe many people , who is either totally obsessed, or thought they could make enough money by touting it that it didn’t matter if they lost their job.

the hospital needs to be clear as otherwise the damage is huge.

LindorDoubleChoc · 20/03/2024 06:27

I've not read any of these royal family threads in recent weeks. It makes me really sad that the baying mob, which includes so many Mumsnetters it seems, can be so fucking unbelievably dense and stupid.

DewinDwl · 20/03/2024 06:35

The privacy of medical records is a fundamental right FOR ALL in my opinion.

That said I am surprised at the attention these attempts are receiving at this stage. How do the media know about this potential, alleged breach of confidentiality, when it seems it's still being investigated? Isn't that in itself a breach?

OpalSpirit · 20/03/2024 06:56

Ok, that’s appalling.
Enough now please.

No I don’t think so. It would only be a breach if they named the person.

DewinDwl · 20/03/2024 07:09

The media are being so hypocritical about this. Drawing attention to this breach with their faux concern when of course all they want is more morbid sales/ clicks and the publicity is magnifying any negative effect on KM.

I would expect the discreet way to deal with this would be for the breach not to have been disclosed to the press at all. Or for a notice to have be published AFTER the facts were established and the investigation finished, without naming the victim. Something like "3 members of staff were disciplined and clinic wyx was fined £££ after an attempt was made to access patients records". Nothing else is needed. People who are into the royal family would easily join the dots if they were interested.

I repeat that I am curious as to why and how this breach has reached the press and why it seems that the ICO and the hospital are happy to discuss it in detail.

I agree the papers would pay fir this information action and data protection breach is a sackable offence. Did they think that typing in her name would bring uo the notes. Laughable if it was so serious.

Will they just leave her alone

Are you on the wrong thread because this one is about the new story where someone has tried to access her medical records.

They will never pay and publish for illegally gotten private medical information. It would take them out. The lawsuit would be eye watering, The foreign media may, but not in the uk. But even the foreign media lawyers may take exception.due to breach of confidentiality.

this isn’t the media who requested, this is some twat likely thought they could sell it, or was so nosey they tried to habe a look.

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 20/03/2024 07:27

I don’t understand people’s reasoning that they are entitled to know medical details about the royal family because we pay for them. Does that mean we are entitled to the medical data of anyone who has ever claimed benefits (including child benefits)? It’s a slippery slope. Everyone is entitled to medical privacy.

FizzyStream · 20/03/2024 07:44

Nope I don't think her medical details should be public. I just think if they hadn't been SO secretive and then lied in the form of a doctored photograph then the level of media hype would never have got to this point. They knew it would generate too much interest and they made it worse. They could have mitigated some of this complete circus so they aren't entirely blameless.
