No one walks around with a big grin on their face unless they're expecting to be seen or photographed. That outing was very intentional.

Or it’s Christmas and the woman filmed is happy?! Is that too simple an answer.

It's not Christmas. She wasn't that skinny in December. And even happy people don't walk around with massive grins on their faces.

Misthios · 19/03/2024 09:28

I’ve not “produced “ anything - I linked to a newspaper which is also being linked to by all major news outlets. Again, batshit.

Why are you bothering with the unreasonable?

Misthios · 19/03/2024 09:43

Good question @DistinguishedSocialCommentator there’s no hope for some people is there?

Why do you keep insisting it’s Christmas? Haven’t lots of posters said that the decorations are still up at the farm shop? Lots of places (and houses) leave their lights hung up all year because it’s such a faff to take them down and put them up again. Maybe the simple answer is it is actually them at the weekend

MrsWidgerysLodger · 19/03/2024 09:44

My biggest question is why are the photos of her so grainy, were they taken with a potato?

The one of her in the car with her mum (unofficial) ridiculously grainy which led to some folk speculating is wasn't her.

The Mother's Day photo has been proven to be fake so can't be counted.

This video (and the subsequent stills from it) again so grainy the authenticity is being doubted.

My Mum has arthritic hands and a phone older than her grandchildren and evenbshe can take better footage than this (yes even on full zoom) In today's world of modern tech I am really struggling with why all the images and videos are of such a poor quality... The woman's not Bigfoot FFS!

meditrina · 19/03/2024 09:47

The Sun will be delighted that they have been able to publish intrusive photos (either pap or passer by) with so little criticism of the intrusion.

After the death of Diana, there was such public revulsion that the practice largely stopped. But it's been creeping back a bit, and this is a major step forward

Exactly. Unless the effect has been added to hide something

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 19/03/2024 09:49

@MrsWidgerysLodger

Because it is a screen capture from a copy of the video the Daily Mail took from the Sun website. If you watch the video the person filming it has also zoomed in to try to get a better look at the couple, which affects the quality of the image.

It is fairly straightforward for anyone who regularly uses a camera phone.

IcedPurple · 19/03/2024 10:02

Also funny that they were spotted on Sunday but it took 24 hours for the video to surface. Almost like they had to scramble quickly for a video?

Or that whoever happened to take the photo on their phone was negotiating their price to sell it to one of the papers?

And who is 'they'?

But as I said, even on high zoom and a very old phone video quality is generally better than what's been released, even if you allow for it being an older phone!

Nope the decorations are nowhere to be seen in any recent photos on Facebook.

And so the weirdness continues, Sky News say they've put the images through some sort of face scanner and it definitely is her, Twitter/X say it's definitely not/old footage.

So who knows, how did we get to this totally nuts point?!

Well I would say the palace have lost all credibility in either scenario- people have lost trust in them, even through official royal channels.

This has done untold damage to the RF now.

SKY did some polling, and has reported no significant change to public opinion (on individual members of the family and on trust)

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 19/03/2024 11:03

@MrsWidgerysLodger That is a bizarre assertion that most people can prove to be not true in a few minutes on their own phone.

Screen grabs taken from video footage are more pixelated than still photos. Zoomed in video is more grainy than that taken up close. This is really the basics of how camera lenses work in general.

Ergo- a screen grab from a zoomed in video, especially one further enlarged to focus on one subject, will be very bad quality.

Anyone who has ever tried to order a photo book online with pictures from their phone knows this.

Vespanest · 19/03/2024 11:08

generally I hate the block feature as it creates an echo chamber but sometimes I really wish there was one. This thread is now so cumbersome to read, but that’s probably the aim.

GlobalCitz · 19/03/2024 11:17

It's plausible that paragon of journalistic integrity, TMZ, (original "owners" of the video, if I recall) paid Heidi Agan to pose for this.

It looks like Heidi and her boyfriend to me.

That's not a conspiracy theory, it would just make a lot of commercial sense to them.

But that wouldn't explain other news outlets legitimising the photo / video by publishing it as "real".

I

Apart from Meghan apparently...

MrsLeonFarrell · 19/03/2024 11:45

The Q anon conspiracy during the Trump presidency showed that it is almost impossible to convince people who believe in a specific conspiracy that they are wrong. It also showed how believing one theory takes people down a rabbit hole believing more and more conspiracies. It is very sad and there are whole forums online filled with people who are struggling with family members who believe this sort of thing. Confirmation bias and social media algorithms are so dangerous to our grasp on facts.

If anyone is interested The Coming Storm podcast talks about the reach of Q anon and traces it's roots. TLDR there is no world leader satanic paedophile conspiracy.

I'd definitely believe twitter over an established and respected news site, not.

Have you actually watched the video? People - not just William and Kate but the bystanders too - don’t wear light outer layers in December. Honestly, so ridiculous. 🤣🤣

I'd hardly call my own experience with photos and videos bizarre.

Fwiw I absolutely believe this was her, I think the whole thing was a huge PR fuckup from the fake Mother's Day photo onwards. But I've managed to get some lovely photos printed from long distance video stills. Not buying into any conspiracy theories at all. Just a personal observation that the grainy nature of the photos is a bit peculiar given modern tech.

The Sun journalist did a live to camera piece yesterday which panned around the complex - decorations clearly visible in the huts in the background.

I am really happy personally to be ‘convinced’ this is Kate. I am open to changing my mind. However this woman has a different face shape, eye brows, jaw line, ears and nose. Her teeth are also different and she is thinner and taller than Kate. Her gait is different. No one is taking any notice of them at all, which is unthinkable given the media coverage of Kate atm.

I don’t think anything within the realms of surgery that could have happened in the last two months to have reconstructed her entire face - with no scars at all on show.

It also looks nothing like William.

It’s not about CT or imagining they have sent ‘body doubles’ etc. I just don’t think it is Kate.
