It pays to go out once a year and speak to another human, because from the office, to the hairdresser and dinner parties this is all I have heard people talk about! So many theories and thoughts.

Your circle of acquaintances seem to have a limited range of interests

It's interesting what's being published by the mainstream press at the moment - none of it is going out without "top down" guidance.

There's a story about Princess Anne's kidnap attempt on the front of the BBC (very old news).

Also the alleged breach at the clinic (which may or may not be the same story from December. No actual names are associated with this story).

And stories claiming there's all these '"conspiracy theorists and trolls" out to get Kate and William which is causing them problems.

(Yes, multi-millionaires with staff of 100's overthink about what 16 year old Americans on Tiktok write).

KP has managed to appease the press down (for now) so they're claiming all the problems are external and the photo is real (hmmm).

With Meghan and Harry gone, and no spare to scapegoat I think we're going to be seeing a lot of this weird shit over the next couple of years.

Bit of a middle finger to the public really.

Quite. The princess Anne situ actually happened on my train, it was years ago! She still uses the train regularly and they have cute sniffer dogs now.

Obviously just filling the pages with pointless old news and distraction - not exactly platinum levels PR genius one might observe. Pitiful.

AliceOlive · 20/03/2024 11:32

How is that possible? You’ve been posting “information” here for everyone.

Thanks ☺️

Hughs · 20/03/2024 11:36

@Mirabai
Absolutely, good PR can help (although I think probably less effective now that it's not just about controlling public opinion but also countering bots, targeted attacks etc, they need to catch up).

My post was to rebut a PP's claim that there wasn't much of that kind of thing on MN and I must be getting confused with content on other platforms.

Thanks ☺️

Sorry you are going off to work exasperated. Have a cup of tea 🫖 should help.

Did I say that I agreed with everything which that poster said? No. Stop trying to wiggle your way out of things and own your mistakes - you wrongly accused me of saying things that I did not say and you’re just too stubborn to admit it in case the thread doesn’t follow your narrative

It’s called current affairs, of which this is a big one whether you like it or not

The point of the NIH article that I posted was that disinformation is deliberately being spread and it is hard to counter. The article actually predicts this who discussion. The authors are brilliant.

Whether it is hard to counter depends very much on context and complexity.

The general population did not have the sophistication or indeed the education levels to discern Brexit disinformation - it was a complicated subject.

But they immediately sussed disinformation put out by KP (or apparent media contacts of KP) around Kate.

That disinformation fuelled conspiracy theories and we are where we are.

I suspect Brexit was a learning experience. We learned from January 6th.

@LadyChatterjee Also, your definition of ‘derail thread’ is ‘dare to allow other people to have a differing opinion from you’

Is it opposites day?

Mirabai · 20/03/2024 11:58

@Hughes Social media is always part of PR campaigns/news management now. SM wildfire can and should be managed appropriately.

What exactly are you referring to? Or are you a confused soldier too?

Yes of course - I'm not sure why you keep replying to me, I don't think it's particularly controversial to suggest that PR is more difficult that it was before, especially when there are orchestrated SM campaigns involving bots.

@MrsFinkelstein There was lots of speculation on MN Royal Family board and other places where the Royal Family are discussed. It was not mainstream until the faked photo. My DD had heard nothing about the controversy until the faked photo. Then it was on mainstream news, newspapers, and all over Tik Tok. Everyone knows now. The faked photo was the game changer.

Your possibly fictional DD might live with her head up her arse but the Where is Kate headlines, Spanish speculation, social media trolling and threads on here predated the photo. People aren’t stupid enough to fall for your rewriting of the facts. Just desist, you are getting boring.
