Harry and Meghan are so petty and bitter

They knew that announcing Meghan's new venture would be big news. So they dropped it 45 minutes before William was due to speak yesterday evening. At an awards ceremony dedicated to harry and William's mother's memory.

But that wasn't good enough. Oh no. They then announced the winner of their own awards. While the Diana awards were still going on and Prince William was handing out prizes.

Is there no level this petty, bitter couple won't sink to?!

I am not British and live in the US. Most of us here are fairly neutral and are bemused at the vitriol they incite in the UK. They are gone! You can focus on your princes and princesses and forget about the American interloper. Frankly she is taking up too much of your brain space.

BigFluffyHoodie · 24/03/2024 20:55

Trouble is, those deals demand hard work and have an expiry date. Nobody is going to be waving big cheques in their faces any more.

Indeed. And not just because they've shot their wad, but because the whole streaming/podcast landscape has changed now. There aren't the big deals any more, except for talent that has established income.

Thank you so much . Will you be buying jam from her? Or some beige home accessories?

Well then she's got a big think coming. The Duchy business had to be bailed out by Waitrose. It didn't make any money.

Quite.

It's amazing how few seem to realise that Fred offloaded the Duchy label when it stopped turning a profit.

To be fair, all money from Duchy Originals goes to his charity.

I'm not sure that Duchess Dilletante's profits will go the same way...

Oh look, another stray American has wandered in. I am also “not British” but am not so sure everyone in US is so bemused.

Can someone tell me what a “spokes acolyte” might be? I personally am not I need of one one currently but saw the phrase and had never heard it.

And also, of course, the world has moved on since the Spare hardback was published.

Often when a paperback version is released they add “bonus chapters” to it to drum up new interest. Harry could certainly do that.

But Harold had a four book deal and is on record as saying he left enough out of 'Spare' to constitute a second book.

Why would he add bonus chapters to a now jaded nag?

Allaboutthegrift · 24/03/2024 21:12

Methinketh H spoketh shite.

BigFluffyHoodie · 24/03/2024 21:14

Four books. Jesus.

Anyway, I think that is another ship that has sailed.

Do you know why some posters feel the need to announce their non Britishness? Are we meant to be impressed?

AliceOlive · 24/03/2024 21:21

I do it because otherwise get shit for my spelling. Also to point out that no one ever around me mentions them here. But never to be the spokesperson for the Americans.

That's interesting. So no-one you know is particularly interested in Prince Harry and Meghan?

I do wonder how she's going to drum up business for her lifestyle brand.

Thanks. My comment wasn't directed at you as I don't see you going around announcing your nationality at every turn.

It's just these folks who turn up eagerly letting us know they are in the presence of an American. Or at least 'non British'. A bit like the mansplainers who turn up on discussions concerning women's affairs, starting their inane posts with 'Man here', as though we were all waiting for their words of manly wisdom.

Not that I'm saying people of all nationalities shouldn't contribute here of course

Thank you! I do sometimes but not when the bulk of the posters in the thread are known to me. Sometimes @jeffgoldblum had had to tell them for me when I’m getting stick! 🤣

@IcedPurple i think some to to establish credibility and expertise. ie; I’m a man and here’s what men think.

SecretSoul · 24/03/2024 21:47

It’s probably not relevant, but there is a bit of me that wondered whether the court case over Harry’s immigration papers have/will influenced future book deals or public perception.

His lawyers have argued that Harry might have lied about his drug taking in Spare to sell more copies.

There doesn’t seem to be a lot of coverage about this here but I find this utterly astounding.

The book which was sold as Harry finally being able to speak freely is a bunch of self-confessed lies?! That’s what he’s happy to have placed into evidence in court?!

I know there was a huge pile of provable lies, such as his location when he was informed about the Queen Mum’s death. But Harry hasn’t acknowledged any of those. And if he’s now suggesting that all of his tales about drug taking were lies, that’s VERY different to a simple slip of memory….that’s substantial and direct lies.

If Harry is now saying that the information in Spare isn’t true, then how can he release more “autobiographies”? Would publishers really be ok with his books after he’s essentially discredited himself??

Prince Harry ‘may have lied’ about drug use to sell more copies of tell-all memoir ‘Spare’: lawyers

Prince Harry admitted to taking cocaine, cannabis, and psychedelic mushrooms in his 2023 bestseller, but DHS lawyers argued he may have lied to sell copies.

OneHeartySnail · 24/03/2024 21:59

Didn't the US government, in the court case about whether H's ( as I call him 😀) visa application records should be released, argue that his autobiography should be classed as 'fiction' and not taken to be true?

I think 'The Bench' may have counted as a book under that deal?

I could easily produce four books of that quality - where do I sign up?!

No, just that other people in other countries may not be as vested in this “Meghan is the villain” story you guys are peddling day in and day out.
