Harry and Meghan are so petty and bitter

1000 replies

BigFluffyHoodie · 15/03/2024 10:30

They knew that announcing Meghan's new venture would be big news. So they dropped it 45 minutes before William was due to speak yesterday evening. At an awards ceremony dedicated to harry and William's mother's memory.

But that wasn't good enough. Oh no. They then announced the winner of their own awards. While the Diana awards were still going on and Prince William was handing out prizes.

Is there no level this petty, bitter couple won't sink to?!

Yes, I don’t think she has all that much zest for doing much - and I really don’t think anyone would blame her if she just settled down and concentrated on the children. But she wants to be seen to be doing stuff and for people to admire and envy her. She reminds me of some of the Real Housewives, who make a lot of fuss launching pretend businesses, having their photos taken and showing off, infuriating their castmates who
have had real - sometimes not particularly glamorous - businesses. Will American Riviera Orchard go the same way as Sonja Morgan’s legendary toaster ovens?

@IcedPurple Oh, no, I totally agree she doesn’t actually achieve – she’s queen of the launch/splash/plan. She reminds me of people who say “I’d love to write a book” but don’t want to do the boring part of writing it. I do believe she likes to keep busy, otherwise why start all these endeavours; but it’s “busy work” that just gives the sense of doing something rather than moving to a goal. Launching is obviously way more fun than the day-to-day slog of keeping it going. She’d actually have been better off staying in the royal family as they set up the work for you, she’d just have to show up. But I get the sense she wants the control. It will be interesting to see (a) how long ARO lasts and (b) what the next launch is.

@AliceOlive I have Chrissy Teigan's Cravings cookbook, plenty of good recipes in it for a celebrity cookbook.

This is the recipe we make regularly, lots of ingredients, but so tasty, I usually make fried rice to serve with it, more satisfying than the lettuce.

Chrissy Teigen's Chicken Lettuce Wraps — Studio Sheppard

This is one of my go-to recipes from the Cravings cookbook by Chrissy Teigen. Once you make it, it becomes pretty straight forward to quickly whip together. And ALWAYS a crowd favorite! P.F. Changs has NOTHING on this!

Unsurprising that a book like this has a short life, it’s not something you’re going to keep on your bookshelf and refer back to. It sold in its millions, so it’ll be discarded in the same volume.

I think it comes into the guilty secret category, like the Harry Potter editions released with covers re-designed so adults could read them on their commute. Maybe if it was issued with a different cover it would have a new lease of life!

That's the irony, isn't it?

A lot of the 'work' of senior royals involves turning up and taking the credit for other people's hard slog. You have staff, who you don't even have to pay yourself, taking care of all the mundane details to ensure everything runs smoothly for you. I think Harry in particular really benefitted from sort of structure. Now they both seem at a bit of a loss for what to do next, dabbling in this or that with no real commitment.

It’s all a bit reminiscent of Amanda’s Hygge Tygge boutique from Motherland isn’t it.

Nothing particularly useful or practical that you can’t get from Matalan for what I imagine will be a fraction of the price and without the bitter aftertaste.

Although it’s intended for the US market, I doubt Target are losing any sleep.

Any good?

Her recipes swerve (sometimes hilariously) between cheese-heavy soul food and the light and fresh Thai flavours (her mother is Thai, so she grew up eating that) but I’ve made and liked plenty of her recipes. And have more bookmarked - I need to leaf through the books again, actually! You can dip into her Cravings website to get a sample of her recipes to see.

I think thr reason Megan couldn’t go into clothes is many of the big names didn’t want her, anyone remember Chanel? So she’d be in partnership with smaller players and she’s no designer, took Victoria beckham years and a lot of money. I think for making money thay would be impossible,

jam and a cooking show is more simple, but are folks really going to buy th4 stuff she cooks in , assuming that’s what it is. And expensive jam?

her insta page says 9 posts, but only one visible. I quickly followed but there is Just the name post. Does that mean they deleted 8 before going live with fhr 9th?

She’s went up 2k followers in the last hour, from 531 to 533, lots of them follow 1000-2000 different accounts, which I find a lot.

I see it more like the Da Vinci code which was the most discarded book in its day. Not a measure of its failure but measure of its success.

To he the most discarded you have to have been one of the biggest sellers

It was sold in droves for holiday reading. Some would say that's a massive success

@Serenster @AliceOlive Chrissie Teigen’s cook books sound interesting but I won’t touch anything relating to her as she’s truly a vile individual.

For years she was unbelievably unpleasant online, including telling minors to kill themselves.

Shes admitted it all and “apologised” publicly but she hasn’t apologised privately as she claims. I think to behave as badly as she did for such a long period indicates it’s a core personality trait. I don’t even like many of the people she “trolled” (her description of her behaviour) but some of the things she said were fucking awful.

Anyway, I don’t want to derail this thread but just thought I’d add my two pennies worth 😂

I wouldn’t at this point either. I was not even aware she had a cookbook before that incident. So I was just curious to know if her recipes were any good.

100 percent it was a massive financial success. Richard Osman was speaking about it on his podcast recently and he - who has also had massive success with his writing -speculated that Harry probably made £25m from it on top of the advance he would have been paid.

The interesting point is whether he’ll have similar sales when the paperback version is issued. Generally, they sell more than hardcovers. But for this particular book it’s quite possible the market is now saturated!

MarmaladeMarkle · 18/03/2024 20:23

Richard Osmans books are great, he’s a great writer.

I’d be very surprised if there were ANY paperback sales of Spare, that ship has long sailed!

I love Richard Osman’s books! The release date of his books nearly always coincides with my birthday so it’s an easy gift for my DP to buy me every year 😊

I always keep Richard Osman’s books as I’ll re-read them again.

They just don’t have enough of a sense of humour to be the next Kardashian’s. Meghan in particular doesn’t strike me as someone who can take a joke. I bet she’s a right bloody hoot at a dinner party 🙄

I didn’t actually know before today that she had cooking books 😂😂 I never actually knew what she was famous for, other than being an arsehole!

Bit of a shame if her cooking stuff was good but there you go. You reap what you sow.

You seem to know her, or why would you post such a catty remark?
