Kate in car with face turned away

Sadly I've become too interested in Picturegate than is good for the level of hygiene in my household.
But ... that image of Kate turning away has stuck in my mind and is exercising me more than the Mothers Day photo.
If she was going to an appointment surely she'd be in a car with dark windows and not hitching a ride in a car n going somewhere else ?
She clearly did not want her face to be seen.
So she's being forced to do something against her will.
Which now makes me think differently about Harry and Meghan.
Any thoughts ?

It's spring. The time the Royal Family have their lizard blood injections. She's clearly had a bad reaction because, unlike most of them, she wasn't hatched from an egg.

You can see in this photo of the family on holiday, that they're happier away from the public glare.

👏👏👏

@mardylookingfrump One significant change is that William now has access to Duchy finances. Before Charles became King, William and Kate were funded directly by the Queen and Charles. So William had to toe the line. Once William became the Prince of Wales he had access to very substantial Duchy finances, so he has much more freedom to do his own thing.
Both Queen Elizabeth and Charles appear to manage PR very well. Maybe William has gone rogue and is insisting on doing things his way? He now has the freedom to do this.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 14/03/2024 13:05

@amberedover1 - my understanding is that Kate had a private appointment in London, and William was going to a royal appearance, so I can't see anything remarkable in them going in the same car. As a previous poster had said, maybe they just wanted to spend that time together. And maybe the press photographer just happened to catch her looking out of the window.

Honestly, the simplest explanations are usually the most likely - so husband and wife share a car up to London for their appointments makes far more sense than Princess of Wales forced into public appearance.

I don't give two hoots about the royals but I do think this is an interesting news story from a PR professional angle.

The face turned away car photo was authorised/engineered by the royals. We know this because otherwise you wouldn't have seen it published by the British press. Compare with the puffy face / looks like Pippa pap photo from the other week - that one was not published by the British press, only US tabloids etc. So we can deduce that the face turned away photo was to say "look she's OK, still here, please simmer down". Note also that there was only one photo whereas paps usually take zillions. We can also deduce that she doesn't want to show her face at the moment. It's probably for a boring personal reason like she's on steroids, but obviously the internet's gone nuts with she's dead/William's beaten her to a pulp etc.

As someone who's worked in PR and communications, I am fascinated by it because there is no way their comms team could be that inept! So there must be someone in the palace, William or Kate or both, who is so pig-headed they are ignoring the advice of presumably the best comms people in London. (The current issue of Private Eye suggests that indeed Prince William is like this!)

I agree the PR aspect is fascinating. I'd expect to see resignations TBH, either because of the sheer level of incompetence or because people don't want to be associated with it when they've been ignored.

I agree the face turned away in the car is likely no more sinister than the face doesn't look how we're used to seeing it, but if that's the case, the MD photo had much more than minor tweaks and that really isn't OK.

wordler · 14/03/2024 13:06

Again - absolutely no evidence of any ambulances at Christmas connected to any member of the royal family.

One 2 second clip of a blacked out car and a police van driving through part of London shared by one person on Twitter (a troll like account that just does gossip and conspiracy theories) supposedly sent to him by an anonymous source.

I wish people would stop claiming this piece of complete fiction as part of their ‘something must be going on’ conspiracy theories.

CapybaraBara · 14/03/2024 13:07

The bricks only look different because the car was blacked out and the interior needed to be lightened significantly to see The occupants.

There's a Tiktoker who actually located a streetview of the exact location the car was passing and the bricks are not suspicious at all. It's simply a low brick wall next to the pavement (what you see through the car window on Kate's side) in front of a house with a denser and darker brick pattern (what you see above the car).

So the car pap shot is definitely real and the fact her side profile lines up perfectly with the other photo someone dug up proves that wasn't a body double. There are three shots from varying angles on the website of the press photographer as well.

BenefitWaffle · 14/03/2024 13:07

Charles also lived through the Diana years and learned to his cost that you can not take the co-operation of the press for granted. They can turn on you. Maybe William has to learn this lesson?

Although I agree the way the press have reacted to the different photos is interesting. Maybe Buckingham Palace has had a word with the press?

Cosmeticchanges · 14/03/2024 10:39

Why the hell would she have a face lift? She's beautiful enough but more to the point everyone would notice and if you don't notice what's the point and then KP really would be branded as lying as they said abdominal surgery

Don´t say she has, but for the same reason why would thousands of perfectly goodlooking people have cosmetic surgery? Because they want to?
God knows what is going on with her, only time will tell I think. I don´t usually follow news about the British royal family, but this situation is so weird that I can´t help but notice.

ColleenDonaghy · 14/03/2024 13:08

I agree that the simplest explanations are usually the most likely, but in this case the simplest explanation IMO is that the picture was planned. One pic, she knew to turn her head, the British media printed it almost instantly. It was planned.

And planning a pap shot isn't immoral or anything, there's no accusation here. It's a bit cheap, a bit cliche, but they needed to do something and she clearly doesn't want to show her face, so they did this.

areyoutheregod · 14/03/2024 13:09

@sweetgingercat oh I had not actually thought about that recent photo in the car and how the media all published it, but as you say didn't with the one taken by a backgrid photographer and appearing in TMZ first. I did assume this recent car photo was set up but then yes, that does mean the UK media who all published it, all knew they could. They published one, but not the other.

ScrambledSmegs · 14/03/2024 13:11

The psychology of this story is amazing. If I was doing a doctorate on the madness of crowds this would be a goldmine.

In other news, Avril Lavigne died in 2003 and was replaced by a double Grin It says it in the internet so it must be true.

DuchessOfSausage · 14/03/2024 13:11

@CapybaraBara , There's a Tiktoker who actually located a streetview of the exact location the car was passing and the bricks are not suspicious at all. It's simply a low brick wall next to the pavement (what you see through the car window on Kate's side) in front of a house with a denser and darker brick pattern (what you see above the car).

The street where the photo is said to have been taken is a short one, so not difficult to locate.
The area occasionally gets flooded.

Ginnnny · 14/03/2024 13:13

Wasn't there a photo of her the week prior in the car with her Mam? I'm sure you saw her whole face in that. I honestly can't believe how far people are reaching with the insane rumors and conspiracy theories about this. The poor woman has had a serious operation and wants to recover in peace/private - let her.

amberedover1 · 14/03/2024 13:16

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius yes on reflection, I shouldn't have used the word' forced '. It's too strong.
I should have stuck to 'persuaded 'as ,I did in my other comments

Maybe she just wasn't looking her best and didn't want the public to see. I don't like being seen in my car without make-up and frequently wear dark glasses to disguise it.

Similarly, the photo - maybe she wasn't looking great but wanted to reassure the public that she was okay to avoid this kind of ridiculous speculation.

Yeah the Mothers Day photo was fascinating because it was clearly not what it seemed, so it automatically felt very dystopian, "everything is fine!!!! Here is your AI generated princess!!!!"

The ham-fisted photoshopping might well have just been because of wriggly kids, but it just drew people's attention to it - maybe they'd photoshopped an old pic of Kate's head in, maybe the whole thing was just taken in November, it doesn't really matter. But what it was not, was a casual snapshot taken last week by a loving 'normal dad' of a 'normal mum' casually recovering from major abdominal surgery (in hiking boots and sprayed on skinny jeans). The interesting thing about it was that they thought they'd be able to pretend that it was. Inept.

Namechanger789 · 14/03/2024 13:20

She wasn't in the car, its photoshop. Same, hat, bow, everything as an old photo taken at the same angle.

Alondra · 14/03/2024 13:23

The picture was planned in response to the disaster Mother's Day one. The problem with the picture is that Kate's face can't be seen because it is turned away, looking at bricks.

Too many of us are wondering what on earth is going on, but we can only speculate. Let's wait until after Easter. If Kate's health issues have only been punctual, she'll continue in her role looking fabulous without a problem. If her health issues are more serious and chronic, we'll all know in time as well.

DillDanding · 14/03/2024 13:27

This is all so silly. The only thing we know is that Kate had surgery and she’ll be back in public after Easter. I am sure she’ll be back looking perfect and smiley and in rude health.

All of the other stuff is just bonkers. How on earth do people reckon they’ll be splitting? There is zero evidence to suggest this.

Sceptic1234 · 14/03/2024 13:28

Its blatantly obvious that the queen's death was faked .... and that she's been in hiding so that she can see how the RF would behave in her absence.

She has been so upset by Kate's behaviour, that she's reactivated the hit squad that her and prince Philip (who is also still alive) used to bump off diana's double (Diana is actually alive and in hiding too). They are now coming for Kate Middleton.

Unfortunately (for the Queen and Prince Philip) Kate got wind of this plot and went into hiding. She was unable to recruit a perfect double, but managed to find a reasonable look alike. The person photocraphed in the car was actually the look alike, who is being whipped off to a secret clinic in Switzerland where she will have plastic surgery to become a perfect double.

If you look at the photo properly it is blatantly obvious that this women's nose was 1.67 mm longer than Kate's. This shows that she's a stand in, but the government and the IMF have suppressed this information.

One the surgery is complete she will stand in for the PoW at all public events. Kate will then leave planet earth on Elon Musk's rockets and live in a secret orbiting luxury hotel that has been built to house the global elite.

Edit.... I take so little interest in these people that I was surprised to see she had 3 children. Thought there was just one.

Yes, and her face looked a thousand times slimmer and more attractive than mine a little rounder or puffier than normal. One very plausible, undramatic theory is that she's taking steroids and trying to avoid photographs until her face returns to normal.

Very human, very understandable, says a lot about the media and us as a society if she is SO unwilling to appear looking less than perfect that she's allowed all this to carry on.

I feel for her, despite the idiocy of the edited photo.

I cannot stress enough how much I don’t care where Kate is, and have never given her any thought before this - but I am absolutely obsessed with the conspiracy of it all and find it so intriguing. It’s a PR disaster by what I assume is the world’s greatest PR team.

Given all the previous commentary around the ‘Firm’ and how managed we know royal life and publicity is managed, don’t you find it intriguing how out of control this all is?! It can’t be by design!

With 3 of 4 main royals out of action, Kate’s sudden disappearance, ambulances over Christmas, a royal-connected suicide, a photoshopped picture, the only pictures of Kate are poor quality and with her turned away… all within 3 months… It’s just unbelievable that the PR of it all isn’t being better managed.

Yes absolutely this! I could not care less about the royals - I didn't watch the wedding, or even the coronation. I'm not even British!

But these guys have been doing personal optics style PR since before the rise of the influencer! How is it going so badly?!

MarvellousMidgeMaisel · 14/03/2024 13:32

These threads are starting to make me question if I'm even real?

Clearly, she didn't want her picture taken for myriad reasons, probably the main one being that she was still a bit shell shocked by what had happened overnight, she didn't feel great, had the weight of the world on her shoulders and didn't want her first picture to be a pap shot of her upset and knackered in the back of the car.
Williams face just says "Don't look now but there's a pap, why don't they just eff the eff off and leave us alone".

YouJustDoYou · 14/03/2024 13:33

Harry and Meghan are still the (proven) lying dickheads they always were.
