Why does it matter of Kate edited the photo??

I feel like I am totally missing the point and I am fed up of being in the dark about it! Please explain it to me!

I genuinely do not know why it matters that Kate tweaked her photo?

Surely the purpose was to edit the usual things that spoil a photo a bit.

Does her editing a photo imply something?

A Mother's Day photo is now comparable to North Korea!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Now this is really hysterical!!
Well done you've won the prize for batshit post of the day!!!

I'm utterly disgusted by the hatred and cruelty being heaped on someone who is very unwell and unable to defend herself from the truly vicious onslaught she and her family are receiving. All of this nastiness about an amateur family photo and then the sick vile baseless suggestion that William has been unfaithful. The press are angry that they can't monetise photos released on social media. They are angry they can't make money out of someone's private medical information. Giles Coren made up that disgusting lie and admitted as much. What on earth is going on that anyone thinks this kind of behaviour is decent or acceptable. Why can't we all just leave Catherine and her family alone.

That's your opinion that's what they did.

Enough with the conspiracy theories. It's absolutely bonkers.

It’s not my opinion, it’s what they did, that’s why the image was killed.

Bonkers (and absurd) is how Royal devotees can not fathom the reality of this situation.

Ha. Not a 'Royal devotee' here. I couldn't give a flying fuck if the woman has had a head transplant. Why? Because it's None. Of. My. Business.

If they want to put out an edited photo. That's also none of my business.

Their choice. It's sad that they've felt cornered into doing so, for whatever reason.

hi op @whatisheupto there are many reasons why Kate “editing” her pictures are worrying.

1, she didn’t edit this picture and has been thrown under the bus at the time of her recovering.

2, They have spliced together a fake image from lots of different images. And the subsequent “Kate’s been spotted in the car with William” image is also fake. Why so may fake spliced together images.

3, the concern is why are they trying to tell the public that she’s fine because look - here’s a picture! But all these pictures are fake?

All these pictures don’t actually show Kate, now. As someone who doesn’t really pay the royals much attention, even I’m concerned about her now. I genuinely hope she is okay where ever she is. But the RF need to stop with all these fake images. Stop lying to the public and if she’s going through a tough time let her recover in peace without making her take the fall for their media cock up

To be fair, they did watch Meghan go through even worse…

I agree!

Who faked that one?

jeffgoldblum · 13/03/2024 10:48

Mi5 presumably, in the ongoing plan to destabilise the U.K. through edited photos of the rf!!! 🙄

isgotinerr · 13/03/2024 09:50

It's not outrage, it's a concern which is genuine, not faux. And it's absolutely nothing to do with a bit of editing a photo to slightly improve the image. It's that the image as presented never existed. If you can't see why that's a problem then I can't help you

Not talking about people genuinely concerned , I am talking about the OTT comments about lies etc .
The woman is unwell , can we not leave her alone . So she edited a photo ? So what - no one else has ever done that !?

I don't think there's any real evidence it was faked. There is a similar image of her from the same angle, but with the number of photos of her out there I doubt there's an angle where that isn't the case.

I’m not sure splicing together serveral pictures to create something to resemble a family portrait is what most people do when it comes to editing their photos.

Speak for yourself, I regularly do it when I'm trying to put together a decent family shot, it's not a new phenomenon

How do you know that’s what was done ?
Seriously you and others who are so outraged , do you not have anything else in your lives ? Family ? Jobs? If you really have nothing else going on can I suggest a few things to get genuinely outraged about ?
Conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza . Women in Afghanistan being denied education . Cost of living . Men in women’s sport . Men in women’s changing rooms/ bathrooms . Need I go on ?

isgotinerr · 13/03/2024 11:35

By genuine concern, I meant about the public being mislead by a future head of state. That's genuinely concerning

jeffgoldblum · 13/03/2024 11:36

Misled about what though?

ColleenDonaghy · 13/03/2024 11:38

jeffgoldblum · 13/03/2024 11:36

Well that's kind of the point - we don't know. I still think it's just a puffy face, in which case the whole thing is ridiculous and they never should have tried. But we won't actually know, because the image was manipulated to the extent we don't even know for sure what they were covering up.

RockyandBullwinkle · 13/03/2024 11:39

Isn't that concerning, that a future world leader would send such false representation as truth? It sounds like something out of North Korea!

😂😂 I thought yesterday was bonkers and there was no where left to go with this but, scratch that, I think we have just levelled up 🎮🕹️

I’d say the outrage is coming from yourself.

My concern is how many people are happy to accept a fabricated picture portraying something that did not happen from our RF, does that not strike you as odd?

Roussette · 13/03/2024 11:42

MrsWidgerysLodger · 12/03/2024 21:33

I'll paraphrase what I said on an earlier thread...

If the photograph has just been posted on their socials and the press and picked it up it wouldn't be an issue. However this photo was directly issued to the press via official channels. By doing this is basically becomes an official Palace statement (albeit pictorial not prose).

The AP have standards regarding these kind of pictures. Whilst an element of Photoshop is allowed (correction of lighting, removal of dust etc on the lens, editing of odd stray hairs) their guidelines state that the picture MUST be an accurate depiction of people and/or events. It was deemed by the AP that the photo was doctored to such an extent that this was not the case and requests for the original/original metadata to verify the edits was not provided when requested.

When you put these two sets of information together it basically adds up to the Palace issuing an official statement which was a lie (and known to be one, this was not issued with anyone from the Palace thinking it was unedited AFAIK)

By doing this the Palace have thrown doubt on pretty much everything they issue from here on in. Everything they publish or release to the press will be absolutely SCRUTINIZED as they have proven that their word can no longer be taken as truth and undermines the trust that a lot of the general public has in the Royal Family as an institution.

^^ this

I have no idea why posters keep saying again and again, I touch up photos what's the problem.

This post explains the problem

jeffgoldblum · 13/03/2024 11:45

That's the material point I'm trying to make !!
No one has actually mentioned what they feel they are being misled by ?
That she's more ill than they thought?
That she's less ill than they thought?
That she's fatter than she was?
That she's thinner than she was?
That she's dead?
That she's alive?
That her photo was edited to show her looking better than she does?
That her photo was edited to make her look worse than she does?

And what the really does any of this really matter in the scheme of things?

cathyandclaire · 13/03/2024 11:47

Graphic analysts also suggest that Charlotte's skirt and cardigan have been photoshopped on and Louis's jumper has been changed in some way. Why on earth would Kate do that to slightly buff up a family photo?

The implication is clear that Kate's head and at least one hand have been edited in and the kids' clothes have been tampered with.

CantDealwithChristmas · 13/03/2024 12:01

She didn't edit it.

Private Eye, new issue out today, choses this story as its cover and the lead article. Private Eye reports that Buckingham Palace is very upset about KP's "clumsy effort to close down speculation on Kate's health" (ie with the doctored photo".

And adds a slightly alarming piece of new info:

""William's court is far more secretive [than Buck Palace]. Believeing that one very staged photo will appease the people is old-style royalty that doesn't work now. Even if the veracity of the photo weren't queried, it wouldn't stop the rumour mill for long these days. The prospect, long touted, of a new-style monarchy under William seems like a mirage. Hosts on his rare public engagements are asked not to mention Kate. And the truth is that no one except a close circle - and one lucky paparazzo - has since Kate since she left hospital, so the true state of her health remains a mystery."
