Much of the public will not be aware of just how ruthless and harsh it is to be part of the scene if you are not one of ‘them’. Throw an errant, entitled adulterous husband into the mix, and open judgement of Kate’s background then you really are faced with something so challenging and complex for Kate to navigate with three young children, and heir to the throne.

Inevitably no one can really absorb that level of pressure and stress indefinitely.

I heard from a credible source that she is more ill than they are letting on. They are trying to protect the children from having the world talk about it.

I'm no royalist, if we ever get a vote, I'd like to have a republic. However I also believe she should be left alone right now, after all she's only human.

It's just all so WEIRD, the way this has been handled. It's like a PR in how not to handle a situation of this kind. (Which I'm assuming is Kate having abdominal surgery, although possibly less planned and more serious than we have been led to believe.) Fake photos WTF? I'm not that academically bright, and work in a shop. I don't even have Facebook. But even I would have said to William go to some sympathetic event, something with small kids, and when some cute looking child inevitably says how's Catherine, say oh she's doing ever so well! She's so sad she couldn't come today and really misses coming to special days like this. But she's still recovering from tummy surgery and also has to take medicine that makes her face look different, which she's a bit shy about! But it's only for another month and then she'll be as right as rain. That would be caught on a million cameras, and would be lapped up. Throw in some kind of cute "fat face" nickname from her children and it's publicity gold, everyone would leave her alone. I just don't understand why they've taken this weird, lying, PR route that they have.

It would make sense they said they wanted it Normal for the kids

I also think she has had a face lift and/or something like Bells Palsy and that's why she doessn't want to be seen for a bit.

I don't know why they announced anything though. I wouldn't have known/noticed/cared if they hadn't made such a Pig's Ear of the comms on whatever it is. Now they have juts backed themsleves into a corner and failed to stop digging when they should of due to their inherent arrogance as an institution (the RF). The photo was an absolute joke, it is not just visually obvioous, the metadata of a photo would instantly show to anyone that knows even the vaguest thing about digital photos that it had been manipulated and by which software (that is how they know it had been photoshopped twice) and the join where they have stuck an older photo of her head on is just ludicrous and incredibly obvious.

She's had surgery for something and is on some sort of drugs that have bloated her a bit. She's one of the most photographed women in the world and has always curated her image carefully. She didn't want to have her current features documented and went down the road of the fake photo in response to pressure from rumour and the media. Turns out it was a big mistake. I wish her a speedy recovery, what a terrible life.

Can you imagine how horrendously people would react if Meghan had released a manipulated picture? The Guardian has identified 20 manipulations in that one photo.

My expert diagnosis (😂) of Kate's abdominal problem was peritonitis. The story fits and the recovery time's about right, assuming the infection had spread and they had to cut. She may well have been on heavy antibiotics or steroids when the puffy-face car picture was taken.

Another common but serious event would be ovarian torsion, also requiring laparotomy and a fairly long recovery. Could've been something like a hysterectomy, of course. I can imagine the RF being reluctant to share details about the future queen's reproductive organs, rightly or wrongly.

My similarly expert relationship diagnosis is Trouble In Paradise, but it's probably just a rough patch and things will seem back on track by the summer.

I was abroad over Christmas and New Year, so missed seeing the generally unavoidable Christmas (Royal) walkabout pics. How did Kate look then, and was there any hint of illness does anyone think? Sorry for the nosiness but it's something I thought briefly about then forgot about.
