Do the Royal Family just think we are really really stupid?

Just that really. From Harry’s car chase to Prince Andrew being at a Pizza Express kid’s party.

And now we’re supposed to believe that the country’s biggest PR machine in the middle of a media storm just let Prince William take a casual Mothers Day pic on his iPhone, let the missus edit it and then post it to the world?

😒

To be clear, I don't think the PoW's job is "nothing". I do think he needs to step up and be more visible in a time of crisis for his "business". As figurehead that is his actual job.

Right.

You have zero clue what he’s “doing.”

and not sure why you wrote “doing strategy”. Not sure what you were “doing” there.

I’m still mixing up posters because they’ve all merged into one for me.

It's showing her as a happy glowing picture of health when clearly that's not the reality.

They said she'd be back after Easter, they should have just left it at that instead of trying (badly) to fool the public by superimposing her head on a photo!

I agree.

The narrative they are trying to push is that she’s had a planned, straightforward surgery and is happily resting at home. This does not add up with the fact she has not been properly seen for months and the release of a faked photograph that was ‘taken last week’.

I don’t believe the absolutely ridiculous conspiracy theories floating about on Twitter but clearly there is more to it than they are letting on. I think it’s simply just a case that the procedure and recovery was a bit more serious and complicated than they have shared.

Releasing a photo with her super imposed head and saying it was taken last week is just really silly, and no surprise it’s created this storm.

That would explain why you think PoW's job is so overwhelming 🤣

LittleGlowingOblong · 13/03/2024 12:59

the current government is so dysfunctional that William actually does have an opportunity - without getting involved in politics - by leading by example and setting some kind of moral compass.

by highlighting environmental issues, conspicuously rejecting xenophobia / racist tropes, by being ultra transparent with contract procurement, by highlighting links between the UK and Europe, demonstrating a One Nation unionism that warmly embraces Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, by highlighting the importance of good school infrastructure, by celebrating the NHS…

there’s so much good he could quietly do. there’s a real vacuum of true leadership in the UK just now. he has so much scope to use his imagination and get stuck into turning this country around.

but no, BAFTA’s it is. And his father staged his “Scottish coronation” on day of the 75th birthday of the creation of the NHS.

But PW is not in charge of the monarchy at this point. KC is doing what you describe himself.

The “200 people” described above were being used to say PW is lazy and has nothing to do. I disagree with that, and say the people suggesting this have no clue at all.

But that’s not at all the same as the point you are making here.

of course! we are all so daft, William is the direct line manager of 200 staff members. he's rushed off his feet with A/L requests alone.

Yeah and it was a nightmare for him when they all wanted Christmas Eve off a couple of years ago 😃😃

The King is doing a good job of being visible in the circumstances, but has stopped most of his engagements, which is why his number 2 needs to step up.

BenefitWaffle · 13/03/2024 13:18

Having staff does not mean you are lazy. It does mean you are not doing the hoovering or having to make the kids packed lunch.

I agree they have made an absolute hash of this. They should completely shut down until Easter. Its what they should have done in the first place. Stop briefing the press about William holding the fort at home, no aides saying how upset Kate is. They could easily have held firm for 2 more weeks, but a week of questioning why William hadn't done anything for 3 months and asking where Kate is, and they completely imploded, trying to fake photos and trying to get them past Reuters, then when they were found out, blaming Kate, then when that didn't work, organising a pap shot and when that didn't work trying the ' Its all your fault for upsetting Kate'when hardly anyone apart from KP themselves have blamed her. Most people have blamed KP and William.

Your original 200 people post was a direct response to my saying PoW needs to step up, which was apparently unfair because of the number of people he needs to manage.

Keeping track of your arguments is definitely one thing you need to be able to do when running large organisations.

You don’t think the head of an organization that large does anything all because the only thing required is approving time cards. Got it.

I mean, I would hope that any organisation with a staff of 200 are doing more than organising 200 events for 2 people over the course of a year! I wonder if that's the problem? Too many people doing too little?

Serenster · 13/03/2024 13:29

The current government is so dysfunctional that William actually does have an opportunity - without getting involved in politics - by leading by example and setting some kind of moral compass.

Good question. Let’s look at what William’s done int he last two and half months, shall we, bearing in mind that he also had to cancel various things because his wife was seriously well and his Dad was then diagnosed with cancer:

by highlighting environmental issues
He’s had two Earthshot engagements in the last week, including celebrating a nonplastic company getting a big supply contract for large event catering

conspicuously rejecting xenophobia / racist tropes
He made a statement about the conflict in Isreal/Palestine and met representatives of each community to talk about the importance of listening and building communication channels, and the rise in antisemitism.

by being ultra transparent with contract procurement
That’s one for his household and the Duchy of Cornwall, presumably, not William personally? At any rate, he advertised openly for a CEO last year, which helps with transparency - it’s not just an automatic appointment from the Cabinet office.

by highlighting links between the UK and Europe
He and Kate were supposed to be visiting Rome this month, but the trip was beacuse of Kate’s health

demonstrating a One Nation unionism that warmly embraces Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland
He was in Wrexham in Wales for St David’s Day (not this year, but he was, to our knowledge, last in Scotland in November last year to highlight organisations supporting rural communities)

by highlighting the importance of good school infrastructure
Education is highly politicised though! And what does good school infrastructure mean? He visited a school while in Wrexham, in any event.

by celebrating the NHS…
He gave a speech at a charity fundraiser for the Air Ambulance Service, which is a health charity. He’s also used the investitures he took part in to highlight those being given honours for their work int he NHS - eg the woman who recruits foreign nurses to work for NHS hospitals.

There are chief executives, whatever their title. They manage the staff.

I think if you had you’d know that managing an organization isn’t just about admin manager tasks.

Even if you had only ever done admin manager tasks you would know this.

Quite.

Walmart has 2'100'000 employees. The CEO and Chair of the Board are so busy they had to make thousands of clones of themselves... 😆
