Yes, it would be an invasion of privacy and it might be something they really don't want revealing, but my goodness it's turning into a circus.

I know. I was pointing out to the poster who said Catherine often went out and about without wearing her rings, and then posted pictures as evidence, that she is actually wearing her wedding ring in all of them.

I couldn't get my wedding ring on for nearly three months after having a major surgery, so (as I said in the comment you've quoted) I see absolutely nothing to warrant all the frothing about her not wearing it in today's picture.

It means they want the photo to be withdrawn because it has been manipulated, as many people have said here. It’s just been announced on the news.

It means kill the story (take it down from news platforms) because it’s factually inaccurate and photoshopped.

Are photos that have been photoshopped no longer going to be accepted by photo agencies? I can see an argument that with deep fake technology they are going to start maybe having some guard rails in place. I think it might cause some upset in certain corners, not just royals, if they do, though!

The Associated Press (one of the biggest news agencies, and distributor of the picture to news outlets) must now have very real doubts as to its authenticity, such a big agency would not request the removal of an image without very real concerns, especially knowing that pulling it will likely cause a lot of speculation.

But there is no earthly reason to manipulate such a shot beyond some tone changes etc. It seems they think the picture is a composite, they deal in photographs and will have many experienced technicians on staff, so should know what they are doing.
