Photography hobbyists and aficionados unite.

Welcome to the thread where you can display and discuss some of the most iconic photos captured by some of the most talented photographers.

These aren't your average Instagram photos. Oh no. These are the ones that live in your head rent free. The Marie Kondo of photos that spark joy. Where everything in the photo is perfection.

This thread is meant to be fun, light-hearted, and showcase the talents of those behind the lens.

Please do not derail, and do not use this thread to be snarky or have a dig about subjects you don't like, or to other posters. If you cannot keep in the spirit of the thread, then please don't participate or spoil it for others.

My brother took this photo at my unit's centenary parade.
HM really cared for her horses.

Wow! What year was that @Polyethyl ? Lovely pic.

Polyethyl · 18/03/2024 19:32

My brother took that photo in 2007. He turned up hungover and I was so angry with him. But forgiveness came fast when I saw the shots he'd captured.

Here's another lovely photo (Not taken by my brother.

I saw this picture on Facebook, it incorrectly claimed to be a portrait from Diana’s 21st. It was actually taken in 1987, so she was still only 25/26!

How did they manage to make Diana look 15 years older there?

ArcaneWireless · 20/03/2024 10:44

Love the photo of Anne with the horse.

AnnunciataM · 20/03/2024 12:32

Is that really from 1987? The outfit and Diana’s hair look more early 90s than 80s.

jeffgoldblum · 20/03/2024 15:35

Are you sure it's not a typo ?
Her 31st for example?
1997?
Thus seems more appropriate from her age in that photo.

This was a formal portrait taken by Lord Snowdon in 1992. She was 31.

My goodness William is so like his Mum.

I think this is the photo that I saw - or at least it was from the same shoot.

She suits the colour, she suits the neck (I would look like Jabba) and she looks serene.

The one I saw I think she was on her tod.

I don’t think H looks right here - been fiddly-shopped a bit too much I think - but apart from the ones with her dogs, I do like this photo.

Just goes to show how photos can render people unrecognisable. That looks nothing like Diana.

ArcaneWireless · 20/03/2024 17:20

I know dumpling

Just about recognisable but not quite right.

StickyWickets · 20/03/2024 17:21

I agree, it isn't a very flattering Diana photo. She looks even older than 31 there!

I am however eternally grateful that I am not in a role that requires being photographed daily, deliberately or otherwise. Photogenic I am not and even the best photographers in the world would have their work cut out!

ArcaneWireless · 20/03/2024 17:23

I know it doesn’t really belong here but fiddling with images always reminds me of this.

Ye shouldn’t laugh but it still really, really tickles me.

Sorry.

I have a photo I took of a Harry look a like in a pub last week. I'm sure I could sell it and suggest it was him and with photoshopping well the world is my oyster!

Edited

Sorry I’d confused it with this one from ‘87.

I remember crying with laughter when I saw that. How on Earth did they think no one would notice 😂😂

AliceOlive · 20/03/2024 19:37

I haven’t kept up so apologies if this was already posted. Not iconic, but I love the personality you see in pictures of little kids.

Diana - so much spunk

I was beyond helpless smilesy and I’m not really one for mirth!

It was done with a good heart and provided a chuckle for many so I think it a gift. 😁

Soosi · 20/03/2024 20:15

I think Diana looks a bit like princess Alexandra in the above photo.
