Photography hobbyists and aficionados unite.

Welcome to the thread where you can display and discuss some of the most iconic photos captured by some of the most talented photographers.

These aren't your average Instagram photos. Oh no. These are the ones that live in your head rent free. The Marie Kondo of photos that spark joy. Where everything in the photo is perfection.

This thread is meant to be fun, light-hearted, and showcase the talents of those behind the lens.

Please do not derail, and do not use this thread to be snarky or have a dig about subjects you don't like, or to other posters. If you cannot keep in the spirit of the thread, then please don't participate or spoil it for others.

And Samir Hussein, who took the picture of Meghan and Harry under the umbrella (such a stunning image!) also snapped this one. He has a great eye for shots.

This one really gets to me . Wedding pic of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and Robert Kennedy. I remember seeing the pic at the time. Then 3 years later they died in a helicopter crash. I know it's not strictly royalty but still...

I also loved this picture from Meghan and Harry’s wedding:

(It must be a great gig being a royal photographer. Heaps of interest in shots them, and they are constantly doing visually interesting things, not just standing on a red carpet…)

For all those interested in royal photos, there is going to be a new exhibition at the King's Gallery (next to Buck Palace) this summer. Looks like it will be fab. Tickets via the Royal Collection website.

I’m not sure who the photographer was but it’s lovely.

This is one of my favourites and there's a similar one of the whole family

I love how beautiful Anne looks, how relaxed and normal family the phot feels and how much of just a regular dad Philip looks

This one, of the King and Queen of Bhutan (who is absolutely gorgeous and I have a royal crush on), I think is perfection. The contrasts are beautiful against the black.

This is from their wedding day over 10 years ago, taken by Prakash Singh (I have not seen his other work).

Love this one

I never realised how similar their profiles were

Doesn't really fit the brief as it's a snapshot but I've always liked this picture of Diana as a child cosied up with a heap of romance novels. Very poignant in view of her later life.

I think it was Lady Glenconner, in her book, who said that Princess Margaret was good-looking from every angle.

My grandmother was the assistant to Dorothy Wilding, the first female official court photographer. Dorothy was appointed in 1937. Her subsequent portraits Queen Elizabeth were used by the Royal Mail for its stamps.

This is one of my favourites that hasn’t been mentioned yet (along with the Meghan & Harry in the rain and Catherine at the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral).

Yes
Reine the wicked stepmother who Diana called Acid Rain, but who she actually got on quite well with in later years!

Annie Liebovitz photographed some terrific portraits of the late Queen.

Serenster · 06/03/2024 19:22

Another fab photo of Elizabeth and Margaret, showing their different personalities!

Edited

She reminds me of Jennifer Ehle in that picture.
