Photography hobbyists and aficionados unite.

Welcome to the thread where you can display and discuss some of the most iconic photos captured by some of the most talented photographers.

These aren't your average Instagram photos. Oh no. These are the ones that live in your head rent free. The Marie Kondo of photos that spark joy. Where everything in the photo is perfection.

This thread is meant to be fun, light-hearted, and showcase the talents of those behind the lens.

Please do not derail, and do not use this thread to be snarky or have a dig about subjects you don't like, or to other posters. If you cannot keep in the spirit of the thread, then please don't participate or spoil it for others.

Catherine in the gold dress was stunning, definitely one of my standout favourites.

Enko · 08/03/2024 16:43

King Harold of Norway, Crownprince Haakon and Princess Ingrid
first, one taken in 2006 (by Lasse Berre) the other one was taken in 2022 for Princess Ingrid's 18th birthday (by Kimm Saatvedt,)

Generations after Generations.

Not to disrespect the thread; but Pengate was hilarious.

For me not so much, as his mother had just died. I remember how I felt when I’d been freshly bereaved, the rawness and the pain.

This is just a snapshot but I love the way Diana is looking at Charles, I like to think they did have some happy times together.

I don’t think Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones as she was has been featured much, I think Princess Charlotte is a lot like her and can imagine this is what she might look like when she is older.

But Sarah is the spit of her father, who obviously is unrelated by blood to Charlotte. So I think any resemblance is coincidental.

SheriffofRottingham · 08/03/2024 17:45

Wow I can see a resemblance - -even more interesting to find out it’s coincidental!

Agree Charles and Diana would have had very happy times too

Edited

To be fair though, the King has alluded to the pen incident since and made a joke about it

I can't imagine that any member of the British royal family would be shot manspreading like that though....

Don't google "Prince Harry manspreading" then. I only did his out of curiosity but I'm sure the other male royals will be too.

I love this one. According to the FB link it was Wales 1963.

@smilesy I hope my comment didn’t come across as diminishing to the other poster, just sharing my take too. For me there was the strained and upset element to it so I find the photo quite sad. I’m glad he took all the ribbing on the chin, I vaguely remember someone handed him a pen and how he laughed it off.

Check out Andrew Parsons photographer on Instagram, I went to school with him and he is now royal photographer, photographer to the prime minister and has also been a war photographer. He has lots of lovely shots various members of the royal family

This one was a classic, the happiness on both Meghan and Harry's faces shines through (despite the post-partum puffiness, in Meg's case!) 😂

I don't really think of Meghan as beautiful (not my sort - I also don't think Catherine is - both are good looking IMO) However on that photo I think Meghan is utterly beautiful.Enko · Today 16:22

So fascinating how opinions and perceptions differ! Personally that's my favourite picture of Meghan - yes, her face is fuller than either before or after the birth of her son, but to me she just glows with natural beauty.

I know she is normally much thinner (I suspect in line with Hollywood expectations) but that pic reminded me of images of her as a young teenager - there's a real freshness about it.

It's great to be really slim, but sometimes people lose that glow and replace it with make-up - and for me, that's true of many people - I'm not having a pop at M.

@TheSquareMile I will forever love John Travolta for dancing with Diana and innately knowing how to showcase her and her gown First Lady Nancy Reagan wife of President Ronald Reagan asked John to dance with Diana. In many shots of these two Nancy is in the background in a cream dress talking with someone. Both so gorgeously young and fabulous

Yet is blood by her mother..

I think Sarah has a look of Princess Margaret now that she’s older but she never looked like young Margaret in her youth.

It’s such a shame there’s no video footage of Diana dancing with John Travolta. I don’t think there’s any of her dance with Wayne Sleep either, though The Crown did its best!

I do think most women gazing at their new born look beautiful.

There’s an expression that cannot be replicated which seems to surpass the physical beauty and takes it to a whole other realm.

It is hard to put into words.

You put it perfectly. You're so right. The radiance of elation/exhaustion/wonderment and pure love.

I love this thread!
All stunning pictures.
I wish I knew how to upload, but the one of several that I always remember is when Princess Diana held a sick little child to her. Her face showed compassion and care and that human touch (especially from the RF) was worth so much.
