we saw this dress in its own glass cabinet, V&A Dior Exhibition, a famous iconic dress.

The Queen in the robes of the Order of the Thistle, by Julian Calder. Angela Kelly writes about this in her book. The photoshoot was planned, but on the day it was raining on and off and they just managed to get out and do it in a break between showers - hence the dramatic sky.

That's an iconic and moving photo.

I often forget, especially with Kings/Queen's not in my living history, their personal relationships.

This photo exemplifies this. The role George VI had with 3 women in his life, son, husband and father.

Don't they all look so young and lovely? It's so nice for them that they have so many other young royals their age. I hope George gets to meet up with them too when he's a bit older - he's pretty close to Estelle's age.

Yes, indeed - coming as it did when we were all in lockdown, it was very cheering to know Beatrice had made the most of her necessarily low key wedding. The dress was remodelled from one of the late Queen's if I recall correctly.
