Photography hobbyists and aficionados unite.

Welcome to the thread where you can display and discuss some of the most iconic photos captured by some of the most talented photographers.

These aren't your average Instagram photos. Oh no. These are the ones that live in your head rent free. The Marie Kondo of photos that spark joy. Where everything in the photo is perfection.

This thread is meant to be fun, light-hearted, and showcase the talents of those behind the lens.

Please do not derail, and do not use this thread to be snarky or have a dig about subjects you don't like, or to other posters. If you cannot keep in the spirit of the thread, then please don't participate or spoil it for others.

(from White House photographer, I believe). About as off duty as two people in their position could be?

The Queen and the cowboy

sorry.

Oganesson118 · 07/03/2024 13:18

I've always liked these. It's the first time I've ever looked at them side by side and you can see how much more frail the Queen had become in that time.

King Hussein of Jordan and his many weddings

Hussein and Dina

Hussein and Muna (King Abdullah's mother)

Hussein and Alia

Hussein and Noor

I know nothing about them, but it looks as though as he got older his choice of wives got younger?

I had to check. His first wife was actually 6 years older than him. He was 20 when they got married. She was 26.

His second wife was 6 years younger than him. He was 28. She was 22 when they got married

His 3rd wife was 13 years younger than him. He was 37 when they got married. She was 24

His 4th wife was 16 years younger than him. He was 43 when they got married. She was 27

Jordanian wives -
Alia, No. 3, was killed in a helicopter crash.
Muna, No. 2, is British by birth. She's been very much present at Jordanian royal events since Abdullah succeeded.

I remember when Abdullah had a bit of a following on MN -

I like this one!😁😁

There's also the one of lady Louise covering her ears at William and Kate's wedding! I would say that's a least a notable photo, if we're using iconic too freely.

Josette77 · 07/03/2024 14:31

These are all adorable too. I love seeing the body that evolved after Diana's death.

Young Elizabeth

I think that photo of Margaret was already shared.

King Hussein and Muhammad Ali

Young Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden

Carl Gustav and Silvia's wedding

That photo of a young QEII by the pillar is beautiful.

Josette77 · 07/03/2024 14:33

Sorry I love photos! I'm posting a ton. Lol

Some of my faves of William.

Going back to the photo of the late Queen, Queen Mother and Margaret wearing 'hairdressing gowns' 😂the story I remember reading was that when the photograhper (was is Norman Parkinson??) arrived they were wearing matching royal-blue satin cloaks, but he suggested wearing them back-to-front, which they all did.

I agree it's a bit weird! I'm sure it was seen as a fun gimmick but I don't like high necks on anyone and I think the effect might have been more flattering if the cloaks had been worn in the usual way.

Sniggering at the hair salon aspect - yes, they do look as if they've just got out from under the driers, bless them!

Wackadaywideawake · 07/03/2024 14:34

I find it fascinating that both Diana and Kate were catapulted into the national consciousness through being photographed in see-through outfits.

Josette77 · 07/03/2024 14:37

The one of Megs doing yoga I love. I used to follow her on suits ( I'm a Toronto girl.)

Her casual wear is generally my fave. I think it's where she dresses best.

Her at the remembrance day ceremony was stunning though.

I actually love her makeup usually. Very natural.

Any pic of Kate with her kids or any kids. She shines around children. It's my favourite thing about her.

And also Pippa in that dress. The silhouette was stunning. Her hard work definitely paid off in this pic.

I remember Pippa's butt got its own Twitter page after this. Lol

Meghan's wedding makeup was lovely. So light and natural.

While scrollng looking for something else, I came across this. I don't pretend it's iconic, but it is a lovely photo of Sophie:

Thank you that's really interesting. So all of them in their 20s as he aged.
Sigh.
