”They” haven’t said it is anyone at all. It’s all speculation on social media as to whether it is the Princess, her sister or some random acting as a double.

I didn't mean that the royal family were saying its kate, I meant that the mediarl are saying it's kate.

Sky news are reporting it. Its a bit strange them reporting it, as its obviously not her.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 05/03/2024 13:27

This supercilious narrative of ‘baying public’ needs to stop

Tell you what. We'll stop with the narrative of 'baying public' when you stop with the 'pearl clutching.' Deal? Alternatively, you could knock it off with the thread policing.

Some of us remember August/September 1997. 'Baying public' is putting it mildly.

I think the royal family were stupid to announce that kate had surgery anyway.

If they hadn't said anything, no one would have even noticed that kate was missing for a couple of months. Would you notice if you didn't see kate in the media for a couple of months.

Now that they have announced that she has had surgery amd won't be seen for a couple of months, everyone is thinking about it, and everyone is coming up with theories/conspiracy theories.

My elderly mother said to me the other day -

"I don't believe that kate had surgery, I read somewhere that William is very bad to her, and I think kate may have had attempted suicide".

I was like "Wow thats a of a reach". But you never know i guess

Journalists would have noticed though and would have commented, which would mean that the public would have become aware. Also she had engagements, including a proposed trip oversea, that had to be cancelled. So yes, it would have been noticed

Sorry you lost your mum so young @WestLondonmumfromtheNorth.

I knew a fella who had a bowel re-section due to severe Crohns, and he had to take steroids and did gain a lot of weight around his face and neck.

Did he come off the steroids after a while? Were they used while healing was going on? I have known of them prescribed for someone who had breast cancer - 1970s I think, probably to allay other symptoms which had come along, later on for someone for her arthritis and twenty five years ago for someone who had a severe heart condition. I don't for a moment think Catherine has any of these, by the way.

Does she have engagements every month? I feel like I've only seen kate at engagements every couple of months. Usually William too.

Though he has done more in the last couple of months, as both kate and Charles are out of action.

I think they were smart to announce it.

in normal circumstances they might have away with her just being awol, but they were unlikely to get away with both for them being awol.

plus the second the King’s surgery, and subsequent cancer, was announced it would have expected that she and William would step up, and announcing it at that point would have caused even more speculation about why it was hidden.

There are several older members of the family who are looking very frail. The last thing they needed was having to say “actually Kate isn’t going to X’s funeral because she had surgery 6/8/10 weeks ago that was kept quiet and she’s not fit enough yet”.

plus the possibility of it being leaked if it was hidden.

How can you say it's good to see her when she clearly doesn't want to be seen?

It's a BackGrid photo

I don’t know but she certainly had things that had to be cancelled, like the overseas trip

simperingsychophantsbatman · 05/03/2024 13:51

There was apparently no sign of any bodyguard and if that was the case then it wasn't Kate because she wouldn't have been out without one. Zero chance of it. More like Pippa & Carole trying to pretend that it's Kate...

*I think the royal family were stupid to announce that kate had surgery anyway.

Ofcourse people would have noticed. William attending engagements on his own would have raised questions

Can you imagine the level of absolute hysteria & theories if they had said nothing

There was no way they could say nothing at all

*i don't believe that kate had surgery, I read somewhere that William is very bad to her, and I think kate may have had attempted suicide".

I was like "Wow thats a of a reach". But you never know i guess*

And absolutely made up ridiculous theories like that are why they've offered an explanation.

lovescats3 · 05/03/2024 13:58

What is a backgrid photo? And yes it looks like Pippa plus there was no security with them

Kinneddar · 05/03/2024 14:04

More like Pippa & Carole trying to pretend that it's Kate

Thats a bit unfair. How have they pretended its Kate? They're out in the car together. It's just as likely to be Pippa as Kate. Its not like they've got 'Carole & Kate' on the windscreen. I do agree though the fact its a single car with no security makes it more likely to be Pippa

interestingly though none of the British media are publishing the photos. Not even outlets like the Sun & DM

Just to clarify, it's not my theory, and I don't agree with it, it was said to me.

And I have seen loads of people talking about "there must be something really wrong with kate" online. Including here on mumsnet.

So announcing that she was having surgery and that she would be off for a couple of months , has caused mass hysteria.

So it wasn't the best pr move to do by the royal family.

I think it's the 'couple of months that has made people speculate, as people are saying "well I recovered a couple of weeks after surgery".

Kinneddar · 05/03/2024 14:12

So announcing that she was having surgery and that she would be off for a couple of months , has caused mass hysteria

But it would be 100% worse if William for instance attended the BAFTAS on his own & then people realised actually she hasn't been seen since Christmas. Presumably she had to cancel some engagements. At least by making the announcement most people who are sensible, logic & don't over dramatise everything accept she's out of commission

The nonsense being banded about now would have been nothing in comparison to what it would have been

I think there's going to be a lot of conspiracy theorists disappointed when she shows up at Easter looking her usual self

YogaLite · 05/03/2024 14:13

I wonder whether we are going to see totally reinvented Kate at Easter, one can do a lot out of sight for over 2 months..

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 05/03/2024 14:13

The royal family PR isn't responsible for the mass hysteria. They told people the princess was in hospital, having treatment and when she'd be expected to be back. Anything else is on the trolls and bots and downright vile people on SM.

Tell your DM to stay off TikTok, it’ll destroy what’s left of her intellect

Ah, yes: because when your close family member has undergone serious surgery and is the subject of intense media scrutiny and has caused an internet frothing and is still recuperating and needs fewer problems not more and Uncle Gary is being a workyticket, what you’re likely to do is engage in Weekend At Bernie’s shenanigans. I know Pippa was daft enough to write Celebrate but surely if Carole was Machiavellian enough to engineer the Kate-Wills social-climbing match in the first place (if you subscribe to this theory), or canny enough to make millions from party tat, she’d have juuuust enough sense not to do that.

😂😂😂😂😂😂

I honestly think the posters going down this odd consipary theory don’t understand just how batshit it comes across. There is absolutely no need for Carole to find a chubby fake Kate and drive her round. I mean wtaf 😂😂😂

Kjones27 · 05/03/2024 14:28

Just to say that obviously there is no truth whatsoever in the kate suicide rumor. I've heard more people than my mother say it.

But you can see why people would speculate. Its not that far reached. Women in kates role, have suffered under the mental pressure in history.

Princess Diana attempted suicide.

Duchess Meghan said she wanted to attempt suicide when she was living in the royal family.

I think that's why some people are concerned about kate and think that the surgery is a cover up

I truly cannot understand the mass hysteria displayed in tabloid media and the utter madness on SM.

What is so difficult to understand about a senior member of the royal family having surgery that necessitates a longish stay in hospital followed by a recovery period at home? What is wrong with her wanting privacy regarding her medical condition and recuperation period?

It seems completely reasonable to issue a statement with a time frame and nothing further. Why is anybody owed any more explanation at this point in time?

I cannot imagine the frenzied media coverage and nutters on SM when she does make her first public appearance. It will be so over the top and quite overwhelming I should imagine.

Perhaps in time the public will hear what her medical condition is with her voicing it herself and supporting research or organisations that highlight the issue. Perhaps not. But whether you are a member of the royal family, or not, I think anybody is entitled to a degree of privacy regarding their medical conditions.

The King has chosen to highlight parts of his medical condition and keep others private. That's his decision to make. Similarly it's perfectly acceptable for Catherine to keep hers private at this point in time.

As for people scrutinising pap shots of Carole Middleton driving her car with a passenger that I think is Kate her daughter, so what?

I think people are speculating because meghan had such a bad time in the royal family.

Also there are rumors swirling about will treating kate badly. And having affairs with other women.

It's adding up to people being concerned for kate.

Also I think that people don't believe a word the Palace says anymore.

MeinKraft · 05/03/2024 14:48

The whole thing is just weird, why is the picture so grainy, and why is there only one of them, it's not 2004, pap pics don't really look like that anymore.

NeedyOtter · 05/03/2024 14:49

Anyone suggested yet that it could be Catherine's Secretary, Alison Corfield in the car with Carole?

Great news, HRH Princess Kate seen in public today
