(or for the MN purists, Catherine) The most high profile and popular member of royal family has not been seen since Christmas. I do think it's quite strange and so many rumours from the foreign press. And before anyone starts jumping down my throat about her having hysterectomy / crohns / ad infimum / I've had both a hysterotomy and half my intestine removed and was back in work within a 8 weeks.

I've never had abdominal surgery/hysterectomy etc but if I did I think I'd disappear for a while to recover.

William vanished for a few days, no doubt to help look after his beloved Catherine.

She's had a serious operation and needs recovery time, and a well needed break!

And she's Catherine, not Kate, as she hates being called Kate.

So you were back at work in 8 weeks? Good on you but your body isn't Catherine's, hers isn't yours, each body take a shorter or longer time to recover.

Dweetfidilove · 03/03/2024 10:25

I didn’t realise she was the most popular and high profile.
I also didn’t realise she was missing.
📝 to make more of an effort.

Press coverage in the Sundays is beginning to tip towards support for the Waleses in refusing to pander to conspiracy theorists demanding more information

I doubt even that would placate them, they'd just make up something else. I once saw conspiracy theorists referred to as Ahbutwhatabouters - as in, you come out with a logical, rational and reasonable explanation for something and they come back with 'Ah, but what about....'

NeedAdvice8 · 03/03/2024 10:26

Why is it so hard to believe that she had abdominal surgery and is now recovering at home, just as the palace said? That’s not even remotely illogical, after all, she has the luxury to afford a proper rest. If I had the money, that’s exactly what I would do after a surgery.

Everythinggreen · 03/03/2024 10:34

Yet another "I'm just going to say it..." like everyone who is intent on hounding the woman is "just going to say it"
Why are you bothered enough to start yet another thread about it. Must be lovely to have so little to muse about in your own life, to be hyperfocused on a woman whose reps have said won't be back to work until Easter.

whoamI00 · 03/03/2024 10:34

For me personally I feel a form of passive agressiveness after reading this thread. It's announced that she would be out until after Easter. That's enough update regarding this matter. Why do some people seem to demand something more than that.

ColleenDonaghy · 03/03/2024 10:34

Wtf? William called her Kate in their engagement interview. She's switched to Catherine because it's more formal but she clearly does not hate being called Kate. The utter shit that gets made up about these people, I think I'd run away and never come back.

DillDanding · 03/03/2024 10:38

Not sure where you got that she hates being called Kate? Shes never not going to be called Kate as that what she was known as for so long. William called her Kate throughout their engagement interview. He still does. My friend hosted them both at a sporting event fairly recently and he called her Kate all day. Harry calls her Kate throughout Spare.

It was a PR decision to try and get Catherine to stick as it’s more formal and regal. But she won’t be able to shake off Kate with the general public and press. See also Fergie and Princess Di.

Everythinggreen · 03/03/2024 10:43

I don't know why some people think everyone is the same and speculate about her surgery. About 15 years ago I had a surgery to remove an abcess from the base of my spine. Pretty standard procedure by all accounts. I was told beforehand that I'd be signed off work for 8 weeks min (a lot due to aftercare needed) and only had an office based 9-5 job.

Why is it so hard to believe that, given her job, she would need a good while to get back to full capacity to fulfil her duties. No one even knows exactly what she's had done, or what level of after care needed.

Blinky21 · 03/03/2024 10:44

Speculation could easily be shut down by giving some basic details, the awful PR handling is what is stoking the rumours

If people are bored , they still sell where's Wally books ! , I believe it's not available online too!

I had major MAJOR abdo surgery and was told i was to be out of action and rest for 12 weeks but was back doing food shop and looking after 4 kids 14 days post surgery as i had no other option. She is very lucky having all this time to recuperate. Oh how it is to be royal.

She is very lucky - she doesn't have same obligations as ordinary people she can have what used to be called convalescence back in the last century up until perhaps 1980's wealthy people could take how ever long they wanted to recover.
Some took holidays our seaside towns used to have convalescent hotels where people recovering from major surgery could go to recuperate,
She has a whole team of staff to cook clean and look after the kids.

A few colleagues had hysterectomies, probably about 20 years ago now so the op might be different and they had about 3 months off work.

In the 70s my aunt even managed to get medically retired having had one, could you imagine that today 😁

Namenamchange · 03/03/2024 10:46

They are going low contact with the country, drawing boundaries in time for when Prince William becomes king…
problems might occur when we get used to not seeing them and they are become completely irrelevant to people’s lives. They are and always have been work shy, and certainly enjoy the finer things in life. If they aren’t doing the ‘work’ part more people might start to question what the point of them is.

In a nutshell. It's very strange how people would believe tiktok/twitter at face value.

Maireas · 03/03/2024 10:56

Why haven't we seen/heard from Kate?
William has, on more than one occasion last week, thanked people for their kindness and good wishes.
It's not Easter. She's off until then. Whether people think she should be up and about after 10 days or whatever is neither here nor there.
Perhaps people would like her, on recovery, to do a tour, do chat shows, write a book? Maybe show people her scars, discuss her difficult experience? We're so used to celebrities over sharing, it seems strange to some people that others value privacy.
Critical judgement disappears, to be replaced by rumour, fantasy and wild conspiracy theories.

ItsallIeverwanted · 03/03/2024 10:57

Thing is, everyone left in the RF now, apart from Andrew looks like they hate being in the Royal Family. William appears to loathe the idea of being King and find it all very painful and tiresome, Kate has made the best of it, Charles and Camilla are fine but a bit too old to throw themselves in at this stage.

It just shows it's all a farce. The Queen managed to look like she was neutral or even positive about it, and showed very few expressions.

It feels like we are torturing them, Harry says we were, William acts like we are, why don't we all not bother! I'm happy to stop paying. Annoyingly they are incredibly wealthy anyway and will just go around feeling privileged and not doing anything, but that's kind of how it is now.

43ontherocksporfavor · 03/03/2024 10:59

Because she doesn’t have to be back at work so why would she? She’s not in the public eye but that doesn’t mean she’s in bed. She’s probably doing other stuff at home where she no doubt has a gym and maybe a pool and can get strong again away from prying eyes.

Basic details like what? Saying right from the outset that she would be out of action completely until Easter?

43ontherocksporfavor · 03/03/2024 11:01

Not to mention a recent update that she is doing very well. What more do you want?

Quizine · 03/03/2024 11:02

I'm not going to be told how to react by anyone here. It is quite OK to ask questions and ponder on this. Why not? They wanted their privacy and are getting it so it's OK in my book to speculate. That's normal.

I'm not convinced she is as unwell as reported either. Indeed I hope that is the case as I would with regard to anyone.

One thing strikes me though. If there had been NO announcement, would anyone have noticed or cared much about her/their absence? I realise they had to cancel engagements already scheduled, but then how was the surgery "planned" if so?

Let's speculate away. Those who try to silence the questioners sound a bit sycophantic and frankly a bit over invested in protecting them. Why is that?

IwishIcouldfinishabook · 03/03/2024 11:03

GrumpyPanda · 02/03/2024 22:28

Why should we care? That's why there's a RF board that can be hidden.

Can it? How can you hide an entire board? Genuine question- I keep getting drawn into timewasting crap about the Royal Family when I should be working/going to the gym/even cleaning!

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 03/03/2024 11:05

Those who try to silence the questioners sound a bit sycophantic and frankly a bit over invested in protecting them. Why is that?

I can't see we're any more over-invested than the people who want to 'speculate away.' If anything, I'd say we're less invested - it's not us inventing far-fetched scenarios and presenting them as fact.

Well if that's the case, why intervene on a thread like this and protect and advocate for them?

I would imagine that if folk are not bothered, they wouldn't say anything!

‘Above the general public insanity and utter bewilderment at how people were responding – was the strange, seditious, slightly exciting undercurrent undercurrent to it all…’

All sounding awfully familiar 🥱…

Okay , I'm just going to say it... where is Kate Middleton?
