I am pleased to let you know that Prince William is on good form, visiting my home town today, meeting our football team and pulling a pint in the local. He clearly prioritised his engagements this week and this was far too important to miss⚽️🤣

So nice to see William with all the little ones at the primary school. They all seem so excited.

Have you seen the footage of William with the little girl dressed as a daffodil? It's adorable.

@Ineedwinenow it's the carer that often goes under as they carry all the pressure, I hope you are looking after yourself. The death of a pet is traumatic especially at a time when you need them

@MrsLeonFarrell

If he does all that himself why does he need 90 staff, what are they doing?

Just lost a long post, which is good as I now have to be briefer!

I have never been clear, maybe you know, is the 90 staff people who work for them personally (which seems a lot of assistants, cleaners, cooks and drivers etc) or does that number include anyone whose work is even tangentially related to them, for example farmers who rent land from the Duchy of Cornwall or a man who thatches houses on the estate.

I can understand 90 if it included everyone. To use my CEO analogue again, the CEO of Barclays has a vast staff if you include every branch, but still works long hours.

I still think William would be well advised to either be more transparent about what he does behind the scenes or do more public engagements. He will never catch Anne up but has a chance with some of the others.

One might ask that sort of question about Shell. Why have a CEO, when there are 93,000 employees to do all the real work?

Such questions are meaningless

ItsAllAboutTheDosh · 03/03/2024 19:16

It is personal staff, not people who work on the Duchy owned properties. That would be thousands of people.

Good point. But what kind of personal staff. I think of people I've known who had personal staff and they had cook, cleaner, chauffeur, gardener, nanny, personal assistant, trainer. That's 7 and I can't see how you multiple that, even allowing for a a bigger house, to get to 90.

So is your reply.
this is the royal family topic.
so we are talking about the royal family not shell

the inquest was on 1/3/24 the poor man shot himself.

Thank you xxx I didn’t even mention I’ve had an operation too 🫣 honestly 2024 has been bloody horrid and I can’t wait for it to end!!!! I bet William is thinking the same 🤦‍♀️

MrsLeonFarrell · 03/03/2024 19:28

Ok I went down the rabbit hole and ended up on Tumblr after googling how many staff they had! For anyone who doesn't want to follow the link the total in their office comes to 37, which leaves a lot of the 90 unaccounted for. It doesn't mention domestic staff.

Anyway this is the link, from last year

I may have become way too fascinated by this question!

Daisyislazy · 03/03/2024 19:31

🤣

ItsAllAboutTheDosh · 03/03/2024 19:36

Do they have 4 houses? Because all will need to be cleaned and the gardens kept tidy and nice.

It’s called an analogy - scarcely a novel concept in any discussion.

The reality is that we know no more about William’s work load or work ethic than we do about those of the CEO of Shell or any other random stranger in a position of authority.

Yet posters on this forum casually throw around statements about William’s laziness” as though they were acquainted with the minutiae of his diary…

Gottseidank · 03/03/2024 18:22

A Venn diagram would reveal considerable overlap of Harry supporters/ William critics and vice versa. Ever since Harry launched his attacks on his family this has gone with the territory.

I disagree with this.

I don't think most posters fall tidily in to two "camps" like that. They have things they like/dislike approve of or disapprove of. And they are, often, rooted in how the individuals choose to conduct themselves and what they say.

Daisyislazy · 03/03/2024 20:10

The Role description for the CEO of their household, which was advertised late last year, gave a much lower number of staff:

Leading and managing KP’s Senior Leadership Team and overall Household (~60 people)

I got up to 37 now I want to know who the rest are! I obviously don't have anything to do this evening.

No doubt, but the overlap I referred to is undeniable! Just look at some of these threads…

I'm on most of "these threads" and have been accused (and yes, it is always an accusatory tone) of being pro-Sussex, pro-Wales and "only here to bash them" (ie either of them).

Black/white assumptions (and the placing of people into "camps") only entrenches division. But the real world is a whole pile of messy shades of grey

the Earthshot Prize is a game-changing initiative

What do you make of expenditure of £12m including prizes totalling £5m?

CathyorClaire · 03/03/2024 21:05

Unlike Willy the CEO of Shell isn't a drain on the public purse.

If he/she proves to be a sloth it's an internal matter.

I’m fine with it, considering its funds go not just the awards them selves, but also towards a Fellowship Project to help winners make the most of the opportunities to scale up their winning ideas, which have included retreats in the UK (see details below) and an Innovation summit in New York.

The finalists have been taking part in a retreat, which is part of the prize's Fellowship Programme, what the organizers call a nine-month timetable designed to help them grow their solutions by unlocking new routes to market, finance and important partnerships.
The inaugural week-long retreat has seen the finalists meet and collaborate, picking up tips and inspiration from leaders and thinkers in the field of innovation and the environment, including Christiana Figueres, former U.N. Climate Chief, and Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, environmental activist and geographer. The finalists are also been taught how to scale up their plans and initiatives.

The Earthshot Prize and Bloomberg Philanthropies to host second Innovation Summit in New York City - The Earthshot Prize

Taking place on September 19, 2023, the summit aims to drive meaningful environmental change. This year's 15 Finalists will also be revealed at the summit.

This is the 2023 puff. Expenditure referred to was a couple of years ago.
