Apparently there is enough to arrest two individuals as well.

"Paparazzi did chase Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “recklessly” through New York last year, police have confirmed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex said at the time that they and Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland narrowly avoided a “catastrophic” crash while being pursued by paparazzi after leaving the Women of Vision Awards at Manhattan’s Ziegfeld Ballroom on 16 May. [...]

However, in a hearing at the High Court on Wednesday, a judge revealed New York City Police did investigate the car chase and found paparazzi did display “persistently dangerous and unacceptable behaviour”.

I'm sure one dodgy letter waffling a minor bit of support will comfort Harry when he writes a million £ cheque to cover our expenses in his latest vexatious litigation case.

jötunnn · 29/02/2024 15:01

I haven’t disagreed with the NYPD, I believe there was reckless and unacceptable behaviour, and that traffic laws were violated. Everyone knows paparazzi are vultures, no one has said it never happened.

Still not a catastrophic high speed car chase that somehow warrants tax payer money for more security though.

Why do you say he's a vexatious litigant? He won a pretty major case recently. Losing a case doesn't make you vexatious.

Yup - if that was the best thing he could show at the trial, how embarrassing. It’s like he thought they’d automatically make the connection to his mothers tragic death, and instantly sign off on further special treatment for the special prince.

MsForgetful · 29/02/2024 15:04

Still not a catastrophic

It was said, 'near catastrophic' and I don't think you can argue it wasn't dangerous enough to possibly hurt an innocent bystander given that a woman was killed by a police escort to Sophie, undoubtedly not going anywhere near the same speed. It is dangerous and people can be hurt, or killed.

Yes so Harry shouldn’t endanger the public by travelling so publicly. It wasn’t a huge significant event that he couldn’t miss. He didn’t even need to attend to endanger people and waste police resources. Just so he could attend a celebrity event. He should pay properly for his own security and manage his logistics a lot better.

Amazing other celebrities manage to, without all the hooha. But then, they aren’t trying to get the UK government to cough up even more 🙈

Edited

So you're actually suggesting if someone is pursued illegally and dangerously when they go out, they shouldn't go out unless its 'significant'? What does that even mean? Seems an unreasonable suggestion to me. Can't you simply say, he was right, they were pursued dangerously and its not ok?

Wow that’s a lot of exaggerating and misinterpretation of what i actually said. Now i understand why you’re so comfortable with Harry’s hyperbole and spin. If you have to twist things to make a point you aren’t really worth chatting to I’m afraid 🤭

Yes, I don’t know how they manage😉

Maybe Harry needs to contact Beyonce and Jayz for their security detail’s phone number. As far as I’m aware they have never needed to bail out of their security vehicle and into a cab mid journey.

caringcarer · 29/02/2024 15:56

I never understood why he drives off being chased. Surely just stop then no one is chasing you. 🤷 It will all be down to them not wanting a photo taken.

This!

Harry by using this event in his trial with RAVEC, to make a point, has obvious motive to exaggerate the event.

He may well be using it for evidence for RAVEC but Harry did not write the letter - the NYPD did. So you are accusing the NYPD of exagerating the event to help Harry's point.

This is what you said:

Correct me then. What do you mean by this comment if not that he shouldn't travel publicly?

skullbabe · 29/02/2024 16:21

Yes so Harry shouldn’t endanger the public by travelling so publicly.

And they both have changed how they travel and publicise their attendance at anything since.

It wasn’t a huge significant event that he couldn’t miss. He didn’t even need to attend to endanger people and waste police resources. Just so he could attend a celebrity event.

Correct - lesson was learned. Hasn't happend since.

He should pay properly for his own security and manage his logistics a lot better.

As above - he already pays for his own security and they have obviously managed their logistics better over the past year.

MsForgetful · 29/02/2024 16:21

Actually a lot of celebrities complain about the press, including in NY.

Yes cherry pick a sentence decontextualise it and pour on your own hyperbolic exaggerations, and then pompously dictate to me that I then need to defend whatever you’ve come up with……………. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

do you behave like this irl? 🤭

Yeah but they aren’t asking for British tax payer funded security 😂😂😂😂😂 or saying they’ve been in catastrophic high speed chases

funny that! 😆

A picture of both of them, where they were, who they were with and potentially the chidren was at that time extremely lucrative for the paparazzi - you will recall this was the first time they were seen after the coronation and so whatever you may think of them - the pictures were high value and high demand for paparazzi. H&M /Doria were being followed for 2 hours and they tried to lose them several times - the police and their security team thought that they could sneak off in a taxi after the period of time hiding out in the precinct as a bit of misdirection. They miscalculated.

Great, so you’ve agreed with my points and explained they’ve now adapted accordingly - as clearly those were valid issues and they were important points raised in regard to that specific event. Your stance seems to be, they’ve adapted, it’s ancient history, these things are no longer an issue. Good. So maybe Harry will
stop using this past event which no longer has bearings on how they now run their logistics to justify getting more tax payer money 😆

that has nothing to do with the point being made, it is in response to other posters comments regarding other celebrities managing to get around without the same problems. This has nothing to do with who pays what, but about paparazzi behaviour.

I haven’t defended paparazzi at any point - paps and fame seeking celebs are part of the same vicious circle
