Apparently there is enough to arrest two individuals as well.

"Paparazzi did chase Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “recklessly” through New York last year, police have confirmed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex said at the time that they and Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland narrowly avoided a “catastrophic” crash while being pursued by paparazzi after leaving the Women of Vision Awards at Manhattan’s Ziegfeld Ballroom on 16 May. [...]

However, in a hearing at the High Court on Wednesday, a judge revealed New York City Police did investigate the car chase and found paparazzi did display “persistently dangerous and unacceptable behaviour”.

"Investigation confirms Harry, Meghan, Doria were recklessly endangered in NY

The bottom line is that Harry and Meghan left the UK, where they had an official status and the eye-wateringly expensive protection which goes with that. They voluntarily took themselves off to a republic where there titles have no meaning (and are frankly ridiculous) and where they have no official status and somehow expect someone else to pay for their security. Entitled and ludicrous.

If they're so worried about venturing out and about, how about they stay at home more and enjoy the privacy they claim they want? You can't have privacy and live a high-profile celebrity life - it doesn't compute.

H was left millions (at least £27m) by his mother and has had lots of other money on top of that, from the RF and other sources. Put your hand in your pocket, Harry, or stop using private planes etc etc.

But the bit that just sticks in my throat is the expectation of continuing his royal privilege after so angrily turning his back on his family and the institution. Twit!

CoffeeCantata · 29/02/2024 08:19

Their, not 'there titles'. Apologies.

TheSnowyOwl · 29/02/2024 08:24

So is Harry planning on taking civil action against the two individuals given NYPD doesn’t seem to be doing anything further?

MrsFinkelstein · 29/02/2024 10:45

More details emerging.

"And while the probe found “reckless,” “unacceptable” behavior by paparazzi — Harry and Megan’s security contributed to the conditions by not adhering to an NYPD proposed stop, police sources said.

[The Sussex’s ] reluctance to go to the planned stop, with paparazzi, was a contributing factor. Harry has been insistent someone be arrested — that requires evidence which we don’t have at this time,” said another source, referencing how the NYPD and royals conferred during that incident about a planned destination where cops could control the traffic flow."

No suspects, charges pending in Harry, Meghan’s NYC paparazzi chase, despite couple’s claims in UK court: NYPD sources

A letter from the NYPD entered in a UK court case by Prince Harry and Megan Markle claims that arrests could soon be made in the dangerous paparazzi chase they were involved in last year — bu…

I like this whack a mole image.

MsForgetful · 29/02/2024 11:03

Harry has been insistent someone be arrested — that requires evidence which we don’t have at this time and yet in the judgement it includes a letter saying they do.

The fact is, they were mocked and told they made this all up. They didn't. They never said it was catastrophic, but it was near so. Meaning it was very dangeorus, which it sounds like it was. It seems weird to me for posters to defend paparazzi like this and it appears that it's literally just about attacking Harry and Meghan, even when they are hounded. It's a strange thing to do.

tiggergoesbounce · 29/02/2024 11:03

Whether people like Harry and Meghan or not. It baffles me how people will try and defend this type of "reporting" by paparazzi.
Its just plain wrong and needs calling out at every opportunity. There are no excuses for it.

themessygarden · 29/02/2024 11:08

Duke of Hazard 😂😂

Misthios · 29/02/2024 11:09

But it’s the British press who are the problem, right?

themessygarden · 29/02/2024 11:12

' they were mocked and told they made this all up'

They were mocked because it was ridiculously exaggerated, I don't recall anyone saying it was made up. The letter from the NYPD concurs it was traffic violations and disregard for traffic laws.

MrsFinkelstein · 29/02/2024 11:22

More from the Post article. NYPD sources saying there was 2 letters?

“Sources, however, told The Post that the actual internal report after the incident was inconclusive on charges.

Subsequently, a separate letter was sent to the Met Police that found no one was arrestable.

However, a letter was sent to the Royals’ security team that included mention of “potential arrests,” which was in error.”

How did the Sussexes get sent a letter in error and still include it in their court case?

StormzyinaTCup · 29/02/2024 11:24

on NYC car chase Harry has been insistent someone be arrested —

on RAVEC case - Prince Harry demanded to know who was responsible for downgrading his Home Office police protection and even asked for their name, court documents have revealed.

These two statements say a lot about the man.

But NYPD sources told The Post

Is that what you're relying on to discount an official letter sent to the Met and included in the judgement? Sources telling a media outlet?

I don't think it was, they were recklessly chased and the official letter states evidence to prove this.

One of those statements appears in an article, from 'sources'. That you take it as truth says a lot too.

Don’t they know who he is?!?!!

🙈

You are all taking as gospel what the article of NY post says from an unknown source, rather than an official letter mentioned in the judgement. Says it all.

The NYPost is a Murdoch paper with a very obvious bias.

skullbabe · 29/02/2024 14:54

Are the British Press not a problem? Which 2 papers were the first to publish the pictures from the chase before their statement from the night?

jötunnn · 29/02/2024 14:56

Harrys hired security who also gave a hyperbolic account of the event also has a very obvious bias.

Harry by using this event in his trial with RAVEC, to make a point, has obvious motive to exaggerate the event.

Yes it is. but apparently it is more believable than a security team, H & M and Doria, and the NYPD's official letter to the met police which cites evidence.
