So they weren't lying and instead the NYPD were lying.

I wonder if this will be picked up by any of the papers here.

unobserved I meant

You can definitely drive 80 on FDR, I’ve seen it and probably did it myself once or twice.

It doesn’t lend any credibility to this having been a scary car chase for me.

Fair enough - I was just trying to confirm to a poster that 80 mph is possible on that road.

The poster is convinced it is impossible.

Do you mean me? I didn’t say it’s impossible.

I said the NYPD report doesn’t back up Harry’s teams claim about it occurring. So again, Harry and co caught out in a lie. Or if you want to be kind, exaggeration 😉

I’m not fussed either way anyway, tbh. Enjoy the rest of your day anyway ☀️

And M&H were supposed to exit that NY thing in the same way they arrived - through the Hertz car hire back entrance. But they changed plans to make a public appearance at the front. Their right, of course, but not a move commensurate with seeking privacy and avoiding waiting photographers and paparazzi.

If they had wanted to slip off I observed to stay at the friend’s apartment that would have been easily achievable.

But they changed plans to make a public appearance at the front.
Once the vback entrance was blown there was no point in going out that way!

If they had wanted to slip off I observed to stay at the friend’s apartment that would have been easily achievable.

It is not as easy as all that in NYC though.

In LA /California most (not all) high end places have underground entrances, next door secret entrances etc. They have a much better shot of moving around without been seen. This is part of the reason your Soho Houses, Cecconis, Beverely Hills Hotels etc are so successful - they get them in and out in privacy. Craigs is where they go if they want to be seen.

On the other hand, NYC is by and large street level - so they use garage entrance where possible and so on but it is undeniably harder. It is also fair to say that the paps behave differently in NYC.

The question we should be asking is who were those paps and who were they working for that night? It was very atypical behaviour. My bet is they were British tabloids.

If so, that would lead to many questions about their behaviour.

Just to remind people of the sequence of events. H&M and Doria left an event when they were followed by paparazzi. All extrances to the event were surrounded - they tried to sneak in the back to come in and so they made a decison to leave through the front as they were surrounded anyway. They were being followed to find out where they were staying and perhaps to take pictures of their children. The economics of the industry are such that regular pictures don't really sell but an exclusive of them in a private setting, like exiting a friend's apartment building in casual clothes or with their children would be worth a fortune.

In an attempt to lose the paparazzi the couple’s security drive around the city taking one way streets and driving occasionally on the highway. The paparazzi, in an attempt to not lose them, drove through red lights (almost causing accidents), drove on the pavement (high potential of colliding with pedestrians) and overall drove around dangerously in their attempt not to lose a potentially lucrative shot/shots almost crashing into other traffic. There was no mention of high speeds by the couple but they have been reported by the paparazzi themselves (in an attempt to distance themselves from the dangerous driving criticism).

In an attempt to lose the paparazzi they went to the police - at this point they thought that they lost the paparazzi and thought a diversionary tactic was to catch a taxi to try and blend in. Unfortunately they were blocked in by a truck and they were found by the paparazzi who took more pictures. This was an obvious mistake. They returned to the police station after 10 -15 minutes in the taxi and finally figured out a way to lose the paparazzi.

The mayor, the police, the taxi driver and even the paparazzi themselves agree with this sequence of events of the night. H&M's spokeperson released a statement which led to the Mail and Express withdrawing their pictures for a time and after H&M asked for the footage from the paps from that night - they rendered the footage worthless - by doing this no reputable news agency would have bought it especially after Meghan bankrupted the last paparazzi agency she took to court.

Well said @skullbabe

The mocking and derision for what would've been a scary situation hasnt stopped and it's good to have the facts set out

AliceOlive · 29/02/2024 16:37

Meghan bankrupted the last paparazzi agency she took to court.

I didn't hear about that one.

William the actual heir to the throne has managed to avoid catastrophic high speed car chases - funny that

He's too busy sitting on his arse in the house

Watching Griselda on Netflix? 😂😂😂😂😂

Whilst Harry’s too busy chasing that fickle temptress called fame and trying to feel relevant in-between all the polo and computer games
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Daisyislazy · 29/02/2024 17:12

I think he is more Gilmore Girls 🤣

And he also watches the crown but pretends he doesn’t. I think him and Harry share a Netflix account, and they’ve been falling out over who is signed in and when.

Harry watches Dubai bling, Indian matchmaking and How to change your mind, obvs 😂

They were mocked about 'a high speed car chase' there is nothing in that letter that mentions anything about high speed, or a car chase.

This is what the letter said

'reckless disregard of vehicle and traffic laws and persistently dangerous and unacceptable behaviour'

This.

This could simply be just swerving and engine revving. I think this whole letter is just twisting the facts.

100% still a liar.

jeffgoldblum · 29/02/2024 17:57

@C1N1C , that seems a tad harsh !
Embroidering the truth perhaps! 🤣

If someone embroiders the truth for financial gain, is that automatically fraud?

Probably or maybe frayed ? 🤣
Unless of course they've been stitched up of course! 🪡🧵

They never said they were in a high speed car chase. I’ve documented above what they said but because many don’t believe them, I also wrote what others who were there said happened. And all of their accounts match.

So I’m wondering will the toxic British press apologise???

AliceOlive · 29/02/2024 19:08

Whoopi Goldberg joined in making fun of them.( See the article posted above) and she’s no more likely to be sorry than my cat is for biting me this morning!

Who were the first 2 papers to publish the pictures from that evening?

C1N1C · 29/02/2024 19:34

This letter, by John B Hart was sent right at the last minute of Harry's court date. Basically, the last moment possible in his quest to justify his own security detail while visiting the UK. John states there was sufficient evidence to arrest two people arrests for reckless endangerment. This does not mean high-speed chase, just bad driving.

The New York Post are saying that two arrests were not made, and that this letter was "sent in error".

Basically, this is a VERY convenient letter.

The New York Post is little more than a comic, but I do agree about the letter being convenient and strongly suspect there's more to come on this

After all it wouldn't be the first time that something Harry provided was found to be questionable at best

pipsfromthefuture · 29/02/2024 20:13

Well put @skullbabe .. It was a miracle no one was injured, especially a pedestrian that would have beenreally bad.

Also good strategy on their part, making the photos toxic to touch. The photogs should have just taken their photos they had and left it at that. Zero need at all to follow them from the venue.

It seems the new NYPD protocol worked for Harry after that, since he was back in NY after, so good to see
