I think PW is setting out his stall early.
When / if he takes the reins his style will be similar to QE2.
He clearly values his and his family's privacy and will be unequivocal in maintaining that.
I actually admire him and Kate for that especially the last few months.

I think the opposite....he released a statement on the Israel/Gaza conflict last week. I really doubt QE would have done that.

I actually think PW will be a pretty useless king. When the Queen was alive, it felt like Prince George was a long way away from the throne. Now with her gone and Charles having cancer, we may end up with William as king sooner than we know it and the 1st in line will still be a child.

I will be absolutely amazed if we still have a monarchy in 50 years time.

I agree - look at the amount of commentary insinuating (and occasionally outright stating) that their PR is incompetent because they are sticking to the position they said they would.

They even try to say that a totally separate medical condition in a different person who has made different choices about how much to release, means they should say more (hinting it's incompetent to do otherwise, and with comments sections suggesting it must be because of a bigger problem behind the scenes)

There is a different explanation. William hate the press. He's been quietly winning settlements against them. And is drawing new lines about what family privacy means

Yes Thomas' inlaws attended the memorial - but firstly they weren't being expected to stand up and get through a reading. Plus, just because one set of people are mentally strong enough to cope with an event it doesn't mean everyone else will automatically be able to. Things hit people differently.

I think by the time PW ascends the RF will be similar to European ones.
I like PW but don't think he really wants to be king or if he does it won't be like his grandmother's reign.

And yes @EdithWeston is would go as far to say he doesn't like the press. He tolerates them but he certainly flexes his muscles when he needs to.

I suspect William’s mental health is taking a battering.

His wife clearly has had major surgery (not a hysterectomy imo), his dad has cancer, his grandparents have recently passed away, his mother died young, & he is estranged from his brother. He’s one step from a job he may not want, which if he passes on will go to his son. So he’s stuck.

It cannot be easy.
