She'll be like Fergie...sometimes in the press but obviously not their main target anymore.

I think she’d be incredibly naive to think that would be the level of interest in her. At least not for many many years.

TroysMammy · 27/02/2024 20:11

I was thinking the same.

Can I ask why? Why would your first thought be d and v, it's been mentioned so many times and its so random. Why is that a go to reason?

Britain's name would be absolute mud if thete was a security risk and we just pulled W out to leave the greek royals etc sat there like sitting ducks to be exploded 🤣

Sunak isn't that keen on the Greeks so maybe he's involved too!

cyclamenqueen · 27/02/2024 22:46

Because it’s the most likely thing to come on suddenly and be debilitating , teeth he could have strong painkillers . Plus he has primary aged children and stomach bugs are always going round .

DiscoBeat · 27/02/2024 22:50

I hit send too soon. Maybe it was to avoid Andrew.

Isthiswhatyouwanted · 27/02/2024 22:51

This thread is destined to be divided between the posters who think that logically, it MUST be 'the shits,' and the other lot who think the unwavering conclusion of 'the shits' is random and hilarious 😂

Maybe she didn’t want her children worried by people discussing it at school. Say she had got a stoma , wouldn’t you want your children to get used to that with you at home rather than having people in the playground telling them alsorts . If it is a gynae issue isn’t she entitled to the same privacy that we would have.

Sure and the fact that she is keeping it private leads me to believe it is something more complicated than a hysterectomy.

But that’s still the official line ‘abdominal surgery’ and that is why the length of hospital stay and the recuperation don’t really make sense.

The PR advice they get seems to be terrible. The comment on Kate presumably was to try and quash the X rumours that they are divorcing or she has had a breakdown. The press are being weirdly respectful but I assume the story will break soon

The Wales decided, and announced at the outset, that there would be no running commentary on PoWess progress. And they've stuck to that, despite much chuntering that they should be saying more and that they're incompetent to maintain her privacy.

We only got a brief update today so people did not think that PoW's absence was because her health is currently giving cause for concern.

The Daily Mail in particular seems to dislike their maintaining privacy, even on something as personal as a health issue.

The various Palaces have certainly said in the past when Royals have a minor illness that's caused them to rearrange engagements, and have also said when any of the senior ones have had covid. So I do tend to think that the "personal matters" is probably not his own indisposition.

But just a thought - anyone else think it could be sudden onset diarrhoea?

I'm neither a massive Royalist nor a rublican ( is that the right word?) But I feel for William.
Mum died as a kid
Dad's ill
Brother is a blabber mouth
Wife's ill

Job he didn't choose and to jack it all in he passes that burden to his son. Who can he trust and turn to in shitty times?

Hopefully he did just have the shits. He's not a machine and I do not I envy him. The job seems like a poison chalice at times. Imagine if Kate is very unwell with his dad's age and cancer and your only sibling spilling your family secrets to Oprah. It's so dysfunctional. I'm surprised he is still sane tbh.

MindfullyAmazedHorse · 27/02/2024 23:00

So basically the consensus is that William either has diarrhoea or he is trying to avoid Andrew?

I suppose there is also the possibility that William is trying to avoid Andrew because Andrew has diarrhoea and William doesn’t want to catch it?

Or perhaps being in the same place as Andrew gives William the shits?

Getting the shits IS random. Any parent can tell you that......at least I have never scheduled it in. Maybe I'm doing it wrong?

The symbiotic relationship is failing and they can't have it all ways

iwafs · 27/02/2024 23:04

Perhaps he caught D&V off one of the kids

Kenthighst · 27/02/2024 23:05

Surely if William had the shits he'd make it his business to ensure Andrew catches them before he made his hasty exit.

Nah... Andrew looked far too smug & pompous today to have the shits.

It wouldn’t surprise me if William is having a mental health crisis himself, yes I moan him and Kate don’t do enough but my god they have gone through the mill these past few years and all on the world stage, I said in an earlier post how he dropped one of the medals at the honours ceremony recently, yes could just be a slip up but could be he’s hit a wall and just can’t take any more public scrutiny and couldn’t face giving a speech, he didn’t give a speech at the BAFTA’s either when he normally does, maybe it’s all just got too much, for all we know the thought of having to give a speech set off a panic attack, it wouldn’t surprise me at all.

But that’s still the official line ‘abdominal surgery’ and that is why the length of hospital stay and the recuperation don’t really make sense.

Judging by the number of jokes and hilarity in this thread about "the shits", it almost confirms that it must have been a bowel related surgery. There is no other procedure that might be embarrassing enough to keep private. If you replace Will's name with Kates in all the jokes in this thread then it's pretty awful and understandable why a bowel condition might be kept secret.

I feel hysterectomy can't be the case because there's simply nothing shameful about it. People don't joke about hysterectomies in the same way they do about poo, shitting yourself in public, not getting off the loo etc. Her future health and any concerns from her children are also not affected in any way by a hysterectomy.

I find it's often quite infantilising to women that any abdominal condition HAS to be gynaecological. There have been absurd theories online that this was all due to a pregnancy complication that led to a hysterectomy that led to a mental breakdown. It's like a bad movie script where women can only experience distress in a situation that involves pregnancy and babies and which must be hushed up. In real life, the vast majority of women have experienced miscarriages and have no choice but to carry on. It's difficult and shit but nobody ends up with a mental breakdown and 3 months off work as a result of a failed pregnancy. (Especially in the context of a woman over 40 who has, by all indications, already completed her family)

If there's any threat to the Wales's DC then the nanny is the first line of defence - that's why Norland nannies are trained in martial arts, defensive driving and the rest of it and the DC know her and know they'll be safe with her - a very important consideration, I'd have said. The security will be who she'll call on if needed. Hence me saying if she's been called away for some reason PW might not want to be away as well, with PoW being unwell.

Anyway, all we're all doing is writing fictional scenarios. Could be any of them or nothing like them.

Are you on glue??

Norland Nannies do a couple hours self defence and driving.

The kids have royal protection officers with them ALL the time. At no point is the nanny expected to get a would be kidnapper in a headlock.

Also, she gets time off so they do have a second nanny or back up or whatever.

justasking111 · 27/02/2024 23:12

My son was in hospital recently, the children couldn't visit he was too unwell. They cried a few times. Similar ages to the royal children. Even though daddy is home he's still fragile.

The royal children will be going through similar. William is trying to keep all the plates spinning which is hard on your health as a parent.

Think about it.

KC out of the way having medical treatment
Edward & Sophie abroad
Every other major and minor royal at this service

He told everyone he had the shits, legged it back to the palace, filled a suitcase with priceless jewels and fled to a country with no extradition treaty.

Changed his name to Guy Incognito and will spend the rest of his days on a beach somewhere warm.
