It wouldn’t surprise me if William is having a mental health crisis himself, yes I moan him and Kate don’t do enough but my god they have gone through the mill these past few years and all on the world stage, I said in an earlier post how he dropped one of the medals at the honours ceremony recently, yes could just be a slip up but could be he’s hit a wall and just can’t take any more public scrutiny and couldn’t face giving a speech, he didn’t give a speech at the BAFTA’s either when he normally does, maybe it’s all just got too much, for all we know the thought of having to give a speech set off a panic attack, it wouldn’t surprise me at all.

I wonder if he's had a panic attack. That would make you pull out at the last minute.

Joking aside this is plausible. People do function for so long under stress until one day they just can't do it any more. Yes they have a lot of wealth and privilege but it's also been one thing after another for a few years now. A few deaths and serious illnesses can really take their toll.

@OvaHere let's not forget the dysfunctional upbringing. Harry has lost his marbles because of it and there is NO way W would have come out unscathed. If anything Golden Children seem less likely to recognise what it's done to them. Harry has depression, was on coke etc. he likely understands childhood trauma and it's implications. Perhaps more than W who never came second and got more special treatment. Everyone would have pandered to him in a way they wouldn't have to Harry.

I have wondered if either or both of them are struggling with mental health issues actually. Neither of them look happy. William looks quite miserable beneath the polite smiles. They are human and have had an awful lot of stress to cope with. People could try to be a bit kinder.

There were days in my dad's cancer journey when I couldn't do anything but cry. I'm talking giant sobs that leave your body in physical pain and dehydration from crying so much.

FFS. Leave the man alone. There are many reasons why he wouldn't feel up to being sighted in public, and they're all valid.

A member of the Royal Family he may be, but he's also a person. People are allowed to have off days and to not want to be picked apart for them.

Kate's had some sort of significant abdominal surgery, requiring her to stay in hospital for two weeks. That's practically unheard of. Perhaps she had part of her bowel removed, and a colostomy bag installed? Anyway, something's happened, and she's been rushed back to hospital, would be my guess.

I was on page 5 or 6 and then saw the 6pm announcement so jumped to the last few pages rather than reading the whole thread. So sorry if I have missed this but we seem to be back to kids/diarrhoea again!
William’s second cousin’s husband was found dead. Her parents still attended the memorial and I reckon he chose to go and support her.

Andrew was loving William's absence. He had jolly well worked out, within a right royal nanosecond, that he was now the highest-up-the-line-of-succession left attending, and strutted his stuff at the head of the pack like a puffed up bloated walrus on legs.

Do you know, between you and @HemlockSoup I think you have nailed it - Andrew put a load of sennakot on William’s cornflakes this morning, leading to William having to dash home and spend the day on the toilet. Andrew was then free to take up walrus duties.

@TwoWithCurls this is my thought. I went in to hospital for an umbilical hernia 2 years ago..turned out it was not so much a hernia..benign thank god tumor but my bowel was dying. I lost 7 feet. I had a temp stoma (6 months) could not do anything the first couple weeks out of hospital. Not allowed to walk up stairs so had to sleep in living room. On meds and the stupid bag. I was a mess. If that is what she is going thru right now , then god bless her and I think maybe she just needed him home. It is their business. I do not wish to know unless they decide to be public , but myself, I was very very reclusive till they took the bag off. I did not show my face.

My guess is that he’s under a lot of stress/ pressure due to his father/ wife being ill and brother…. Which has led him to have a panic attack or similar distress, which has come on quite suddenly.

If it was the shits, they would have just said so… but more eloquently…eg, viral infection/ stomach bug.

It says in the DM article about Thomas, that his death isn't the reason William was absent. Thomas's PILs attended the service.

Poor William, I wouldn't blame him if he just wanted to bury his head in a duvet after all the shit that has been coming his way.
