I think it's highly unlikely to be child related.

Those kids are in line to the British throne- they have a whole team of staff to drive them to school, cook for them, look after their washing etc etc. All headed up by a boss super nanny.

There is no way that Prince William would have to drop his commitments to dash round and look after a child last-minute. There's probably a section of the household cavalry literally just for post-vomit-school-pickup.

mikado1 · 27/02/2024 21:24

I will admit to chuckling away to myself reading these, both the seemingly straight faced, naive suggestions of normal people situations and the obsession with D&V, emphasis on the D! 😆 The added details of him having been seen driving away from the area 30 mins before the service just adds to the mystery and clearly he didn't go incognito! All v strange.

The likelihood of it being an emergency for the children or his inlaws at a time when both his wife and father are unwell seems slim. Therefore, I deduce it is likely to be connected to one of the latter and as Camilla was at the service I think it is most likely Kate related somehow. If it was any kind of state business, they could surely have made a vague reference.

Does anyone else think that Kate has had a mental health breakdown and is recovering from that, rather than the ambiguous 'abdominal surgery'

.

CathyorClaire · 27/02/2024 21:24

dozens of charities

The charity 'work' has been reduced to 20 or so. Apparently to promote depth but the world's still waiting.

Slightly more mundane, but I wonder if he's struggling with his mental health at the moment. Maybe his father's illness, memories of his mother's death and obviously a fairly serious illness for his wife (and his children's mother) have made life hard right now?

More likely Kate's anorexia (or whatever) has taken a turn for the worse? What happened to stiff upper lip???!!!!

nappyvalley2024 · 27/02/2024 21:27

Perhaps he was attending to his rose garden.

SoundTheSirens · 27/02/2024 21:27

I’ve just thought of a possibility! I don’t think anyone has suggested this yet…

Maybe he had the shits?

(And has anyone cancelled the cheque?)

That is three appointments a week - bearing in mind some of these appointments are phonecalls, BAFTA attendances, tennis matches.............and the same as Prince Richard whoever he is............

.I'd love a full breakdown including the times involved.

Meanwhile Anne has 457?

Do yourself a favour and stop swallowing the royal PR shite.

I'm not buying anything, I'm no royalist.

Also I can't imagine anything worse than having to schlepp to all the fancy lunches with diplomats, BAFTAs with people I don't know, getting dressed up to see premieres and stuff. Shaking hands with people you'll never see again however much of an arse they are.

I'd rather do my job and that's pulling weeds as a gardener.

I'm torn.

On the one hand, it can't be the shits because @Wishitsnows saw him driving away from home - surely he'd be hotfooting it to his own nearby toilet.

On the other hand, it must be the shits because I too have succumbed to them today, and I live near Windsor <conclusive>

And it must be a sign that the poster who saw him was “ We shits now” ( as in the Royal “We”)

Somebody with a muscular fit physique like the Duchess of Cambridge is most certainly NOT suffering from anorexia! or any other eating disorder. What a ridiculous suggestion.

Well I think William's good at prioritising and if his cousin's husband died yesterday - it's a big upset for the family. He needed to focus on that. Just being real. Going to this memorial was not a priority.

For god's sake the whole point of the monarchy is not about 'keeping it real', it's about keeping the fantasy up. If it wasn't for the goldie bits and palaces and horses and silly ceremonies and sense of duty, what exactly is the point????

I have wondered if either or both of them are struggling with mental health issues actually. Neither of them look happy. William looks quite miserable beneath the polite smiles. They are human and have had an awful lot of stress to cope with. People could try to be a bit kinder.

I was on a thread and they were posting that they cook, clean, do the gardening, look after the children, they do their own shopping and have full time jobs. They look so fresh after all that hard work I wonder what they are using to look so fresh.

No, if you know anything about mental health you know you can't just put an expected recovery date on it to snap back to "normal"🙄

Meanwhile her sister is being papped all week on the beach in St Barts. Nah....... the close Middleton family would rally around Kate. Whatever can be said about the RF, the Middletons seem close knit.

their whole schtick is to look "relatable" and "normal" so of course they're going to have it in the media that they do all that. I imagine if there's any of that they do it for five minutes surrounded by help so they can say they've done it, similarly to the "military careers" which are nothing like what you have to actually do if you get the job as a normal person. Not going to be queuing in Morrisons are they

Prince Richard is the Duke Of Gloucester, cousin of the late Queen.

I'm not in the game of discussing anyone's state of health - I certainly wouldn't dream of guessing what's wrong with someone I have literally no idea about - but this isn't accurate.

I had an eating disorder through my early 20's and was as fit as anything. I know several people who had disordered eating, with excellent physiques. In my ballet school, eating disorders and being in incredible physical shape were not mutually exclusive.

I'm only saying this as a very general point - to clarify that people with disordered eating can absolutely be fit and strong.

What? Who is they and who has put a date on it? Kate is supposed to be back after Easter. She may not be. Obviously they have to give some sort of time frame. She’s a public figure. I assume you mean BP.

No one pulls out of doing a reading at their Godfather's Memorial Service without good reason.

William, I trust, had good reason but, if personal, we might never know why.

KitBumbleB · 27/02/2024 21:37

The official announcement of Tom Kingston's sad passing has the wrong date / day of the week combination.
I wonder if the news was supposed to be released on Thursday but was brought forward to distract from William's personal reasons.

Or someone messed up and is in trouble 🤷🏻‍♀️

William just pulled out of event due to personal reasons
