Not sure I would exactly describe it as prancing but the images I have seen certainly show the pair of them looking smug and self satisfied. Very pleased with themselves.

Have you ever seen another expression on that man's face? I don't think I have.

Uricon2 · 27/02/2024 17:39

I don't think it has anything to do with Andrew. However weird it looks from the outside, a lot of the crowned heads and other royals there are related to each other and it was effectively a family memorial, so it would be expected that Andrew attends. If William wanted to make some sort of point about his uncle, a last minute withdrawal from this event (in honour of his godfather) with his name on the order of service, is a pretty ineffective flounce.

Primrosecottagelover · 27/02/2024 17:40

Australian perspective - basically, Queen Elizabeth died and left behind a giant sh!t show ! Prince Andrew is essentially carrying the royals, it’s only a matter of time before Prince Harry parachutes 🪂 into the next royal balcony appearance wearing a streaming giant’s logo.

William’s last engagement was 10 days ago. It’d be pretty unlucky if he got sick on the one day a fortnight that he has to work. Possibly fsmily commitments - can’t be easy having to manage chefs & the UK’s best Nannies.

I m think the issue with Catherine is that she’s freaking out about Charles. Either the physical health problem has been exatturated or made up. Think it’s too much do a coincidence they’re both sick. Think she’s just over it.

They have nannies and helpers galore.

Yes they have a nanny ( singular) but it strikes me as strange that people on a parenting site are criticising a parent for looking after their DC ( if that is the reason for W missing the memorial service)

If it wasn't because of Kate's health I can't see any valid reason why he pulled out at the last minute unless it was a very urgent medical emergency with one of the children. If one of the children was unwell and had to be picked up from school they have a nanny and staff to do it.

I think there is something going on but who knows what!

CrispsandCheeseSandwich · 27/02/2024 17:43

Yes she seems to have gone from doing what her mother wanted ( get William) to doing what the RF want( shut up, look pretty, don't scare the horses and produce some heirs) all her adult life.

What I really hate about the idea that it was all schemed and planned that Kate would marry William is the sexist nonsense that always makes it Carole's scheming. We don't know enough about the Middleton's to say "well Carole would do that, Michael wasn't involved, or his involvement isn't worth mentioning".

EchoChamber · 27/02/2024 17:43

He may have just felt really unwell. It never seemed to happen to the Queen or Charles though.

Your Oz perspective is invented fiction.

Are you confusing Andrew and William (just for a start?)

You think that Catherine is ill because of KC?

And you think she went into the London Clinic - or didn't in your opinion- as some kind of ruse?

Words fail me.

OrangesLemonsLimes · 27/02/2024 17:44

My favourite two batshit conspiracy theories from t’internet are that Andrew is George’s bio father (like Kate would ever go near that man unclothed 🤮)

…and that Charles received a donated kidney from Kate.

I mean, I don’t think that the public is being told the truth at all, but somehow, I’d bet my house on those two being false!

I agree with the PPs who mentioned how poor the palace PR has been, by the way. And Andrew is a massive ongoing problem. But mediocre PR and Andrew being visible help the republican cause a bit, so 🤷‍♀️ crack on!

And I’m impressed by how leakproof the royal households seem to be. This shows how much info was coming to journalists from royal folk like Diana I guess. Not from maids, medics etc.

GracieNotes · 27/02/2024 17:47

Maybe he's got an almighty headache or a stomach bug.
Maybe he and Kate are struggling with the news about Charles and the thought of what comes next. Must be unsettling.
The man's allowed to take a day off.

CarolinaInTheMorning · 27/02/2024 17:47

And he wanted to show he wasn’t joking.

I really doubt that he would be that petulant and disrespectful of the family who had come together to honor and mourn someone, who by all accounts, was much loved. Of all things, what a small-minded thing it would have been to do something like that to Queen Anne-Marie, who had lost her husband of nearly 60 years.

Snide dig at William that he's a wimp?

You have no idea what has happened

Maybe one of the children is ill and wants dad?

And unless you have followed the Royals religiously for 70 years how can you be so sure that the Queen or Charles never missed anything?

This was a memorial / thanksgiving for Will's godfather who died over a year ago. More a friend of KC and the late Duke of Edinburgh.

It wasn't a funeral. It's not the end of the world that he didn't attend.

I genuinely think W&K take the "living normally" very seriously. There was one time about 3-4 years ago where both pulled out of a last minute event due to illness of one of the kids. It had very similar headlines and people were baffled why they just didn't leave it to a nanny. It could easily be the kids requesting a parent to stay or the nanny being sick too or something similar.

Such sycophancy. Living Normally with security service, specialist police,Nannie’s,chef, drivers, medics on standby.

Yes just the regular suburban mum and dad with their town and country gaffs

Will and Kate play at living normally in the way Marie Antoinette played at being a shepherdess and all country, when she was a loaded out of touch royal

EchoChamber · 27/02/2024 17:49

Why is Andrews ex wife being trotted out all the time now ? It’s ludicrous.

A joke about how Andrew was the most senior royal at the event today & was snow boating and beaming with happiness.

Nope don’t think she’d Ill because of the King. I think she’s maybe overwhelmed by the prospect of soon becoming Queen & the stressors of recent times.

I think it’s possible she didn’t go in. Two sick senior roysls at the same time, one that is youthful,’seems unlikely a unique set of circumstances..

I think that William and Catherine would LOVE to live normally.

I think William takes his role seriously but bet that every day he wishes he was a commoner.

The support staff you mention are there so they can do their job.
Who'd want that life?
It must be terrible.
All the money in the world doesn't compensate for lack of privacy and being in the public eye.

I suspect it's to make him look less lonely and isolated (which, in reality, he is).

Because, wonderful parents that they are, and fortunate children that they are in some ways, there are differences in the way they have to grow up which include, inter alia different burdens and restrictions around their parents’ responsibilities. I’m not sure people are criticising as much as saying it’s unlikely . It’s not like he had to travel far to go.

You're way off beam with this.

MarvellousMidgeMaisel · 27/02/2024 17:53

If it does turn out to be something serious and Andrew was pictured grinning like a gibbon then my opinion of him will be even lower than it already is. Odious little toad really looked like the cat that got the cream.

tobee · 27/02/2024 17:56

Must be terrible? Yes all that solvency, sycophancy, staff to meet your every need. Ghastly

Terrible? As compared to cost of living crises, and the turmoil of poverty.

if they want to live privately? Give up the RF role and do a Harry

FMLWTF · 27/02/2024 17:57

The man's allowed to take a day off

Oh come on. Are you typing that with a straight face? William and Kate do not work hard. They do what they can get away with and it’s rarely more than half a dozen days a month. With all the children in full-time education, it’s a bit much to be still sold the line that William wants to focus on his family. Wouldn’t most people?
