It is bonkers! Although strangely not the most improbable thing posted on here.

Oh the shame! My theory being described as bonkers - on a Royal Family thread too. Will I ever be able to live down the shame.😱

UK taxpayers might feel that it is their business given William has done only a few engagements since he waved and grinned from the church path on Christmas Day.

He may have excellent reasons, of course. But to say it’s “nobody’s business” is simplistic and reductive.

Absolutely this^^

Roussette · 27/02/2024 17:18

William was happy enough to drive Andrew sat in the front of a car with him not that long ago

That was the day the late Queen died; definitely not the time for William to defend his principles, even if his feelings about his uncle had crossed his mind on that day.

RedToothBrush · 27/02/2024 17:24

Wasntmeanttobelikethis · 27/02/2024 17:17

Seems plausible; if true, shows a weakness in the King’s authority
William, a father of 3, probably does not want to interact with a man who paid millions to silence an alleged abused woman that he says he never met!
if true, why did KC want the gurning, smug twosome there? Not reading the room very well

In fairness, it effectively being a family funeral, the King couldn't exactly ban Andrew even if he wanted to either though.

Most likely one or more of the kids are sick at home and Kate isn't well enough yet to run after them.

They have nannies and helpers galore.

Calliopespa · 27/02/2024 17:25

MrsWombat · 27/02/2024 17:20

One of the children was unwell or injured enough to require a doctor/hospital trip. Kate is unable to move from her sick bed. William is close enough to home/school to take them. Optics would not be good if they are sitting in A&E with the nanny/school nurse whilst daddy is on what could be seen as a jolly.

I don’t think they join the triage queue …

I think it's a badge of merit! 😂
There are some people who actually believe all the bullshit conspiracies about Meghan and Harry (see above), so you're certainly not the worst 😂

justasking111 · 27/02/2024 17:19

They're no different from most families, black sheep and all that

I do see what you mean, all families have an element of drama, but this lot are relentless.

“Personal reasons” ffs! Absolutely invites speculation.

Mind you, we wouldn’t have had this thread full of pearl clutchers and ninja nannies, which would be a shame.

Amugwithoutahandle · 27/02/2024 17:26

Maireas · 27/02/2024 17:18

No?! Really?! Wow. I actually thought you meant Fergie was a cat. Maybe you are too.
You did actually confirm "prancing", though , and the way this thread is, it didn't surprise me. So weird and conspiracy heavy.

Talk about flogging a dead horse! 🙄 😂
The conspiracy “joke” is getting a bit tedious now Maireas.

There’s a happy medium between “weirdo” tin-foil-hatted conspiracy theorists and all of us being well behaved unquestioning little subjects who take every BP press release as the factual truth.

It’s on the senior members of the RF frankly if their many millions don’t stretch to acquiring decent PR representatives.

And even better, if they don’t want any speculation at all, then they are free to abdicate and we can become a happy republic and news outlets can switch their focus to more important things like child poverty, food banks, a decent living wage, homelessness and an inadequate nhs, instead of all this nonsense!

@DeliciouslyDecadent "Please stop the silly speculation."

Why?

Exactly! It's a free country, so let's speculate away! This isn't North Korea.

mitogoshi · 27/02/2024 17:27

The most likely explanation is that one of the children has had a minor incident, not the sort that is so serious that its life threatening, just the kind where they need mum or dad, as mum is still recuperating that means dad ... wouldn't be surprised if a press release follows that one of the kids broke a limb or similar, not earth shattering but worrying for the child and parent. It's definitely the level of situation you would pull out of a funeral for, and you wouldn't leave the nanny to deal with as a decent parent. Let's wait and see if I'm right

Agree, and the events were glamorous evening dos
Many saying he has stepped up for the King, but I’m not feeling the love for William
I know he’s got a young family with whom he wants to spend time
But he has every school holiday with them
And if every dad had time off to spend time with family as he wished, the world would grind to a halt

I agree! All the conspiracy bullshit has been done to death on these threads. I can't actually believe sensible people think it's true, but there you are.
If people don't want speculation, they are free to give up whatever they do, you're right. No-one is bonded labour.

They have nannies and any child would have been seen within 30 minutes. Probably at the school. If a child has hurt themselves you say "William on't be attending due to a minor injury to XYZ"

William is becoming lazy and entitled.

wordler · 27/02/2024 17:29

William was happy enough to drive Andrew sat in the front of a car with him not that long ago

I’m not convinced the reason for today is Andrew however I think from past actions we have seen that William feels very strongly about Andrew not being seen to represent the Royal Family officially but will toe the line for his father for family occasions, and for the time around the Queen’s death when he was helping his uncle deal with his mother’s death.

So he drove Andrew, Edward and Sophie to Balmoral the day the Queen died, and he drove Andrew to church from Balmoral on one of the significant anniversaries/family gatherings after she died - presumably on the request of Charles to show family solidarity.

It was reported that William gave a me or him ultimatum over an official calendar engagement - can’t remember which one now and Andrew wasn’t allowed to attend.

So I wonder if he’d made a similar ultimatum about this event which is sort of a private family thing but very public so could be seen as somewhat official representation.

Maybe someone called his bluff - Charles, the Yorks themselves? And he wanted to show he wasn’t joking. I’d like that to be the case - Charles is being way too lenient with Andrew and it’s damaging his reputation.

Yes, quite. As if those children are ever going to sit in an A&E waiting room with the rest of us.

I think she’s got Crohns and has had to have part of her bowel removed hence the long recovery period. She’s always been slim but seems to have got thinner and thinner over the last few years.

I did wonder this too, hence the understandable wish to keep it private. Or coeliac disease.

Errmmm yes he was prancing around! He led the whole pack of royals up the road, with Sarah at his side grinning

Not sure I would exactly describe it as prancing but the images I have seen certainly show the pair of them looking smug and self satisfied. Very pleased with themselves.

How true this is I don't know, so please don't shoot the messenger: It's being said on the internet William bailed because Andrew was also attending at the behest of KC; William felt it was a set-up and his stubborn streak took over. William's views about his Uncle Andrew have been a source of speculation for some time.

He still attended Prince Philips funeral, the queens funeral, kc's coronation etc despite Andrews attendance.

William will have known weeks in advance Andrew was attending.

themessygarden · 27/02/2024 17:34

It could be that he is sick to death of the recent wall to wall coverage of H&M and said 'fuck that, I'll show those two !😉😉

I hope it's nothing serious, as others said, it could be one of the kids who had an accident, needed stitches, an x-ray etc., and wanted Mum or Dad to be there with them rather than the nanny.
