Personally I suspect there have been some serious security concerns/threat. Which would explain why both Charles and William have been spotted leaving Windsor.
I doubt we will ever know.

Do you realise how many royals were at that service?

It wouldn’t have gone ahead if there were credible specific security threats

CurlewKate · 27/02/2024 16:09

"Actually, no. I've read multiple reports that relatively speaking, W&C have a relatively small household"

I think they do have a relatively small live in staff. But the rest of the place is crawling with flunkies they can call on as and when.

lemmefinish · 27/02/2024 16:09

the reason they released a statement about Kate is because everyone would then be like “Kate is seriously ill” igniting the fact her sister is having a great time abroad. It’s clearly nothing to do with Kate

Wasntmeanttobelikethis · 27/02/2024 16:08

I read ages ago that Kate’s parent’s marriage is not anymore
Apparently, this is common knowledge abroad: maybe Uncle going into CBB has today threatened to break this story when he’s on the show
And William needs to oversee the story being broken by RF first; and support Kate?

But surely that can wait until he's done his reading?

I haven't seen it, but I think it's not unusual for one to get to the door first and then lurk, and with William not there, it might have changed things - eg I've noticed that Edward and Sophie have been sent in after Andrew a few times eg it will go Anne, Andrew, Edward, but it seems to depend on who is the senior royal in attendance and the type of event. Without William/Charles, Andrew gets to default to his seniority, but when they are there, he's pushed back down.

Technically, if they were all there, it would go Anne, Edward, Andrew, Harry, William, Charles ie in reverse order of closeness to the crown.

BrightHarvestMoon · 27/02/2024 16:10

All a bit odd. Hope he and his family are OK. (ALL of them. incl King Charles) Flowers

Oh yeah, these foreign goss mags that always have the inside scoop. 🙄Otherwise known as 'let's make it up, they won't sue.'

I think William might be just saying No to things he doesn't want to do. Having a rebellion of his own. I can't imagine he wants to be around Andrew,

SomethingUniqueThisTime · 27/02/2024 16:13

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 27/02/2024 16:06

I was just looking at the reports and the service was stuffed with royals, current and in exile, so you'd think so.

It is pretty standard protocol to protect the line of succession. All the others could be considered expendable at the point of a minor alert.

I’ve always thought that Windsor Castle is potentially fairly vulnerable to some form of attack from the air, being so close to Heathrow. Any plane with faulty comms coming into the area could trigger an alert quickly.

If that's the case, he needs to remove himself from the line of succession. He is 40 years old and has the easiest job on the planet. He cannot call in sick to things like a memorial service because he can't be bothered, and hide behind his sick wife and father.

That may be the case, but surely that wouldn't include refusing to attend your godfathers funeral service where you are due to do a reading, with only 1 hours notice?

I'd say he does his own thing. However even he wouldn't pull out with less than an hours notice especially as he had a reading.

I agree . I also wonder if people ever stop to think about W and C’s mental health ? They have had so much shit lobbed at them from Montecito , it is bound to have an affect . Whatever is wrong with Catherine is obviously serious . Like her if not, she is the mother of 3 young children and I truly hope she
is ok .

I agree he probably doesn't want to be around Andrew.

But I doubt he'd be having a strop whilst his father is being treated for cancer.

Harry and Meghan had credible security threats (source: MI5). They didn't do anything about those

Did you actually read that link you posted, @hopefulmummytobe78?
Far from "not doing anything" it explained some of what was done

Meghan and Harry faced ‘disgusting and very real’ threats, ex-counterterror chief says | CNN

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and her husband Prince Harry faced “disgusting and very real” threats from right-wing extremists, a former counterterrorism police chief has said.

Yet the RF continue to throw them to the wolves to distract from all their own troubles

Samcro · 27/02/2024 16:17

i hope Kate is ok.

all the oh they are hands on parents is so daft, yes probably more than people in their position were historically. they have staff and plenty of back up.

Im not on any side but the press about H & M is toxic or does their mental health not count?

Wasntmeanttobelikethis · 27/02/2024 16:18

i know KC is trying to be more open and honest, but I feel that the RF has definitely lost its magic and mystique since the Queen died
Less is sometimes more: they’ve let us in so much that we now expect more information
Can never forget the late Queen’s speech during COVID: short but so powerful

Most likely one or more of the kids are sick at home and Kate isn't well enough yet to run after them.

One would have thought they could have rustled up a nanny or some variety of staff member - if not a family member - to help … 🧐 Many of us would manage without DH coming home from the office.

Of course it doesn't!!! Meghan is the devil incarnate according to most of MN

The precedence depends on the event.

At Philip’s funeral, for example, they went from oldest to youngest for both his children and grandchildren.

At the coronation the working royals were given higher precedence than the non working royals. So Harry, Andrew, Beatrice, Eugenie were all seated before the Glouvesters, Anne, Edward and Sophie.

Going by the seating plan and Andrew waiting for Anne the memorial went by working royals first as well. Which is interesting given it was organised by another RF as it suggests that it is the precedence that will be most used by the Rf going forward.

They create their own awful Press with what they say and do.
