Place marking.

Silvers11 · 27/02/2024 15:06

I thought it was odd Kate was mentioned. It's a Tues, an hour before the event approx 9.30 when he cancelled.. Any number of things could have happened that didn't need Kate being dragged into it..
Eg one of the kids could have had an accident in school & he had to rush,
He could have a bad dose of the shits etc

I'm guessing that the announcement that Katherine is doing well, was to reassure and head off speculation that the Prince was rushing home because something had happened with her. Obviously he had to leave urgently for some unknown reason, but unless it is something that affects us as the public, in which case we may hear in due course, we won't hear any more. Could have been lots of 'personal' reasons why he had to leave in a hurry

Goforitagain · 27/02/2024 15:06

Surely he would have made an excuse not to go in the first place if something big was going on, sounds more like someone took ill suddenly or something like that.

You'd have to get an absolute encyclopaedia Britannica's worth of excuses as to why you just can't possibly pop round to visit the MIL though!

🤣🤣🤣 His parents are quite the characters aren't they 😁
I hope Kate & Sophie (Winkleman) are good friends. I believe Freddie & Sophie's daughters Maud & Isabella were at Thomas Battersea at the same time as George & Charlotte. George & Maud were in the same class.

OP posts:

IMO, the most likely thing is that the Duke of Kent or Princess Alexandra is nearing the end, and both Charles and William have diverted to wherever they are.

Oh shit there you go.

It was Maud who was hit by George. And now Williams got the hump when Freddie confronted him about the behaviour of his bullying little darling.

PP was right all along.

The Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra were both very visible at the service this morning.

This is the most plausible theory I've heard so far

Apart from the fact that they were both at the memorial service so if PW wanted to see them he'd have attended?

Quizine · 27/02/2024 15:12

Speculation is rife now. However with my reasonable hat on, I am wondering why this happened at such short notice within an hour of W on his way to, and having a role to play at the engagement (the reading).

The suddenness suggests a crisis in Kate's health. If it were a marital issue why would it be filled with such immediate dramatics?

So, it's either a Kate or one of the kids, or the IL's health I think.

I notice that a lot of coverage was given to Pippa during her stay abroad, that was by design as her kids faces were pixillated, so she agreed to it on condition that the kids remained unidentifiable in the press. Was that another distraction?

Camilla is centre stage now. Maybe despite everything PW and Camilla can't stand the sight of each other or something.

Mumsnut · 27/02/2024 15:12

It's a bust, actually, if Princess A was at the service for Constantine.

Hardly, given they were at the event Grin

As someone above said - its happened very very suddenly, so likely not PW ill (he would have felt ill earlier), not them divorcing etc.

And had doppelgängers in the service this morning?

She would need to engage one of the top flight KCs, and she'd be fine in relation to the children. She would have every right to expect that the law would be applied correctly.

She wouldn’t engage a KC but a firm of solicitors with a high profile partner - like Anthony Julius at Mishcons who acted for Diana.

J Lo's new doc is dropping on Amazon Prime today. Maybe he and Kate wanted a duvet day.

😂

I heard through a friend of mine that knows their nanny that William has been having an affair with Nicholas Witchell. It’s all kicking off now

Yes I think Nick threatened to out their affair to the Beeb and Wills had to do last-minute negotiations. If NW ends up with a knighthood then you know why.

JonVoightBaddyWhoGrowls · 27/02/2024 15:17

I feel terrible wondering about all this... but it's hard not to isn't it?

I personally think that whatever is wrong with Kate, it's serious. Either she genuinely was having relatively routine surgery but it went pear shaped (hence why they only announced it later) or there was something quite serious in the first place or some combination of the two. I know on Twitter lots of people think she' being treated for an eating disorder but a) I don't think the palace is stupid enough to outright lie about stuff and b) notwithstanding the many people who think this, both her and her sister (who often also gets accused of an ED) have always appeared to be extraordinarily fit and healthy and strong to me.

But if it is serious, William could need to be there for all kinds of reasons from the children struggling with it (and no matter what, I think it's pretty clear that both W&C make a big effort to be hands on, emotionally invested parents so nannies or no nannies, their priority is the DC), to her having a bad day etc.

Of course, personal could also be something happening to one of the children or even outside of his family - his in laws, a close friend or similar.

If that was the case then Charles and William would have been at the service… Alexandra was in the front row of royals and the Duke of Kent was directly behind Camilla

uncomfortablydumb53 · 27/02/2024 15:18

My first thought was Kate was ill
If it was William, I'd have thought they'd say minor illness
They announced it when the RF members had tested positive for Covid
Personal reasons just fuels speculation

Yes obviously - but the sort of high profile firm which can command the top KCs. She might well need a top KC.

SandyWaves · 27/02/2024 15:19

Had enough of this family.

Andrew remains in the fold despite him clearly being linked to Epstein. Why do people fawn over these people?

The RF needs to be abolished

I think it more likely Louis has thumped a kid at school, started swearing, hit the fire alarm, stabbed a teacher and William has been called in to manage the cover up.

That said Dh's first reaction to 'personal reasons' was 'has William been shagging around again?'.

please give my love to your dh. made me laugh. top man. that really is the only reason and don't understand why all are pussyfooting around. someone had to say it.

Quizine · 27/02/2024 15:20

She'll need a "KING'S" counsel alright. Her FIL.

Lanneederniere · 27/02/2024 15:21

At the risk of speculating on Kate's specific illness, IF it is colitis/permanent or temporary stoma, my brother became dangerously unwell some three weeks after his surgery (was only in his 30s). When I saw him, I honestly didn't think he was going to make it, he was hunched and grey in the face. It was an internal infection and he was re-admitted. Thankfully he recovered after in-patient treatment, and eventually the stoma was made permanent. That is not the end of the world, but it was an awful time.
