Harry “is willing to return to a temporary royal role in support of his father during his illness, sources have revealed. In an attempt to help heal the rift in the family, the King and Prince Harry are said to have had several “warm exchanges” since Charles received his cancer diagnosis.
The duke is now understood to have told friends that he would step into a royal role while his father is unwell.”

In fact wasn’t there some challenge from the British press regarding that Oprah interview as they were claiming they were British tabloid headlines when they were not?

Again - that article doesn’t give any evidence of mainstream media printing articles about the couple or Meghan which are attacking or vile.

It talks a lot about ‘comments’ and how it felt in Harry’s mind but it’s not an orchestrated media campaign.

That’s the spin they tried to make during the Oprah interview and they ended up using a load of American tabloid headlines because there simply wasn’t enough evidence in the actual articles in the UK.

Comment sections and social media is a separate thing and if Meghan and Harry spent their time reading through those then I’m sure that was a horrible thing to experience.

I read the comments that's where you get a good feeling about how the British people feel. The papers have criticised and printed stories about them since their marriage and it did feel like a campaign against them.

I think they ended up having to edit the version shown in the UK to reflect reality - was allowed to stand in its inaccuracy in the US though.

A bit like the shots of ‘press hounding’ in the Netflix documentary which ended up being stock footage of crowds at a Harry Potter premiere and a Katy Price court appearance.

So much smoke and mirrors.

AllstarFacilier · 18/02/2024 15:25

Surely there’s no gap for him to need to fill, they’re not necessary and it’s makes no difference if any of them is out of action. We don’t need someone to step into unneeded roles.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 18/02/2024 15:26

Thanks @wordler I knew there was something!

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 18/02/2024 15:27

@BigWillyLittleTodger you are correct. The Netflix documentary used both doctored headlines and footage from events such as Katie Price being photographed and a Harry Potter premiere - nothing to do with H&M whatsoever but supposedly to prove press intrusion of the pair.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 18/02/2024 15:28

X post with @wordler

It would be much more of a job to bring them back in that to keep them away. Even if KC and K are sick. That alone is enough reason not to 😀 not to mention there are other more fundamental reasons too. The only ones who would benefit are these freeloaders who are running out of "work"and money.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 18/02/2024 15:32

Thanks to you too @Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar yes I remember the Katie Price footage they claimed as their own and the Harry Potter premiere! The comments section on Netflix was shall we say, interesting on that debacle! Honestly, did they think no one would notice!

I read the comments that's where you get a good feeling about how the British people feel.

How do you know the people posting in the comments are British?

So you are getting your information from the comments section of an online tabloid (with comments from across the world) and extrapolating from that that the UK - a far more multi cultural country, far more tolerant of cross cultural marriage than any other European state, and certainly more so than the USA ime - is wholly racist and everyone here was always against their marriage.

Right. Why should anyone take your posts seriously, may I ask?

Serenster · 18/02/2024 15:36

And, as a separate point. The newspapers criticise and print stories against all royal family members, all the time. Why do you expect the newest in the spotlight would, or should, be immune from that?

So the British hate Kate then going by your reckoning.

Says a lot that Katie price could command greater crowds than Harry and Meghan

I won't argue with your point we are living in a misogynistic world. I remember someone said out loud now Kate has given birth to George she can FO.

It's how the people feel when they read those articles and believes them. That's why I read the comments.

But you don’t bother to apply any critical thinking skills about who might be reading them, why they might read them, why they might comment, all the people who don’t read/comment, all the people who don’t live in the UK who read and comment, all the people who live in the UK and don’t live under a cloud of racial hatred, even though we are also people of colour and in mixed race relationships etc etc etc. You just read a few comments from a minuscule number of people (probably including a lot of trolls) and decide 67 million people are racists.

The majority are British and a lot of them do add where they are from.

And as a percentage of 67 million people??

Daily mail readers are labelled scum of society whilst simultaneously being the reflection of how society views the world.

TitusGroaned · 18/02/2024 16:51

There does appear to be a very laser focused campaign to smear the daily mail on mumsnet. Ole Jacob Sunde, is that you?!
