Harry “is willing to return to a temporary royal role in support of his father during his illness, sources have revealed. In an attempt to help heal the rift in the family, the King and Prince Harry are said to have had several “warm exchanges” since Charles received his cancer diagnosis.
The duke is now understood to have told friends that he would step into a royal role while his father is unwell.”

I think Harry knows that should he lose his Dad any royal returns will not be welcomed by other family members, and he might find himself totally exiled !

This, when King Charles eventually dies Harry and possibly Meghan will return for the funeral then that will be it. They'll go back to the US and I can't see him being invited for Xmas or for summer breaks like the late Queen Elizabeth used to invite him. William will be King. I don't even know if William would invite Harry to his coronation given he apparently wants a much smaller coronation with less pomp and they no longer speak.

For those asking "Where's William?" I just checked the Court Circular from now until the end of June and no engagements come up - ditto for Camilla, so I'm not sure what happened to "she'll be stepping up"

In fact the only ones working seem to be Edward and Sophie, Anne and a few engagements for the Gloucesters

Maybe that’s because they are not sure what will be happening due to the King’s illness so they have not put anything on the court circular yet. The Queen has certainly been out and about this week and William is at the BAFTAS tonight 🤷‍♀️

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 18/02/2024 12:30

Doesn't the Court Circular report what the RF have done not what they're going to do? I'd imagine that would be a bit of a security nightmare if the ill-intentioned knew their movements in advance.

Harry will already know if there is a trust fund set up for him from Charles as these are set up years in advance.

There will be no inheritance from his father. The royals don’t give out inheritances - William will inherit everything because of the clause that means a sovereign to sovereign transfer attracts zero inheritance tax. Just as Charles inherited absolutely everything from his mother, William will inherit absolutely everything from his father.

I'm sure I read that Prince Andrew had inherited something from the late Queen Elizabeth because she was aware he needed to pay to upkeep Royal Lodge.

Probably, yes, smilesy - though it's not stopped them listing Anne and Edward

I'm wondering what'll happen with "set pieces" like Trooping the Colour, but as ever time will tell

Edited to add it definitely lists upcoming engagements, MrsD, which is why the ones mentioned above are on there

Inkanta · 18/02/2024 12:39

Well, he'd know all about that

He exposed the covert /dysfunctional goings on - the way the palace/family/press operate. Called it all put .. blew the whistle .. blew up the bridge. Folk do that when they've had enough and want out.

He didn't want out though.
He flounced when he couldn't get his own way.

ArcaneWireless · 18/02/2024 12:43

Well, he shouldn’t have too much problem staying out then.

myrtleWilson · 18/02/2024 12:44

I don't think QE2, KC&C and PPOW have ever put forward entries on the court circular due to security I'd imagine. Engagements are added once they've taken place

ArcaneWireless · 18/02/2024 12:44

Fair enough stormzy

Flounce in haste. Repent at leisure.

Inkanta · 18/02/2024 12:45

You think it was a flounce do you🙂

"Harry said"...

I'm out.

Put equally simply?

Aye.

In his addled brain maybe. It strikes me that Harry's got an outsized messiah complex, what with being a dragon slayer of the tabloid press and 'exposing' all the goings on he reckoned were taking place.

He doesn't want out of all that, funnily enough. Or is the idea that they come back and reform the RF in their image like they were planning pre-flounce?

We can only wish he wanted out. Spotify essentially told him to bore off, and it looks like his Netflix deal is about to be cancelled because "Poor Me" has a very short shelf life and his exposés had rapidly diminishing returns. It would be great if he really just wanted to go.

Renaming the thread: Daddy, I need few more millions in order to be happy

Maireas · 18/02/2024 12:48

Long term weed smoking does lead to paranoia, doesn't it?

Maireas · 18/02/2024 12:49

They didn't want out. They wanted to create "a progressive new role within this institution".

What else would you call their ill-thought-out and hasty exit? If they'd just taken their time, talked to the other members of the RF about what they wanted and quietly negotiated behind closed doors, they'd almost certainly have ended up with a much better arrangement than the one they've got. Sounds like a flounce to me.

flounce1
/flaʊns/

verb

^go or move in an exaggeratedly impatient or angry manner.
"he stood up in a fury and flounced out"^

I can't think of a more appropriate word tbh.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 18/02/2024 12:58

It certainly wasn't a dignified exit. If he'd been a teenager he'd have been shouting 'I hate you!' then slamming the door and running to his bedroom to cry.

They were hounded out of the country by the newspapers and their " " Sources" ". Prince Andrew didn't get that much attention by the press but he was the Queens favourite son.

Maireas · 18/02/2024 13:02

So "newspapers" hounded them out? What - forced them to make a statement that they wanted to ",carve a progressive new role in the institution" and "collaborate with the Queen"?

From what I can remember the British people didn't accept them as a couple.

You remember wrong.

???

They were absolute darlings, lovies and adored at their wedding.
