New Sussex website

So I see there is a brand-new Duke and Duchess of Sussex website. Very glossy.

But the self-aggrandising! I just read Meghan’s bio and - cringe - it was the worst of LinkedIn. Sometimes less is more!

I have to read CVs that read like that. So much padding and grandiosity to say so little.

The new website just proves what people have been saying for a long time, they absolutely need the RF links, its all they have. They need that connection more than ever now that most of what they have attempted has been ridiculed or not successful. Archewell has not been the groundbreaking business and philanthropic career they expected it would be.

I think this rebrand may be another one of their own goals, it seems such a backward step rather than moving forward in their own right.

Yes, it’s interesting that they have felt the need to rebrand after 4 years to focus on their personal royal status. But having done so, Meghan was out today wearing an Archewell branded apron, so it’s all a bit of a muddle as to what activities fall under which brand. As ever, their strategy seems a bit scattershot.

Spectre8 · 13/02/2024 07:39

There are plenty of vomit inducing linkedin profiled don't really see the need to particularly pick on one set of people but it's h&m so open season

Some of you are as bad as piers morgan. No wonder bullying and this toxic need to ridicule people over everything will never go away. Always someone to fuel that need in other people.

Serenster · 13/02/2024 07:42

I roll my eyes at plenty that I see on LinkedOn too, Spectre8, you can absolutely be sure of that! The difference is that most people on LinkedIn aren’t trying to claim they are globally relevant. Or still branding themselves as associated with the employer they parted from under a cloud 4 years ago!

Getthethrowonthesofa · 13/02/2024 07:44

I do wonder why they’ve done it. the optics are terrible.

They were told not to commercialise the Sussex royal brand so have now went with Sussex only. Previously they had accepted not using Sussex royal and used archewell instead, clearly archewell wasn’t working.

i can only assume they are struggling as much as people thought, that archewell has not been a success, little footfall or interest , so they are seeing if they can rebrand and leverage the royal titles for some money ans wrapped the struggling archewell up into it.

the simply can’t understand it doesn’t matter what they call it, it’s about what they do, what they achieve, and that’s what they need to fix. There is no easy route to money for them now.

Totally agree with this.

His titles haven't been removed though so what's the issue. Until it is and until he is no longer royal what's the problem

He is still royal by blood that won't go away no matter what you all want. He is still and will always be a royal.

Its it not akin to a job 🙄 they are not employees if that was the case that would mean anyone can apply for that job

losingtheplot999 · 13/02/2024 07:51

All the royalists who agree with the monarchy and all that it stands for oops sorry but not the fact that they can't get over the fact born a prince will always be a prince with regard to Harry. No matter what anyone's opinion of him is he will always be Prince Harry. No one can "strip" that off him that is the point of a hereditary RF so if the royalists don't like it then campaign to be a republic or get over it just because you don't like him.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 13/02/2024 07:54

If I’m honest I think a reconciliation is much better for the royal family as a whole and for the Sussexes to be in the fold rather than out.

But that’s my opinion and I’m not the one who has to welcome them back after some of the things they’ve said.

The problem back in January 2020 was that they wanted to commercialise being Royal and were told that wasn’t possible. Hence SussexRoyal being dropped, and Archewell being their go-forward entity.

Surely you can see that “Sussex.com, from the Office of Prince Harry and Meghan the Duchess of Sussex” is a regressive step back towards the problem?

themessygarden · 13/02/2024 08:02

Meghan was out today wearing an Archewell branded apron.

They have to deplete the Archewell merch before moving on to the Sussex.com merch 😀

Yikes. They're not letting go over the WE'RE royal Brand. It's a mistake imo. They need to let go of the whole royal thing and try and come across as though they don't care about titles.

100%. This is what bugs me most - in a list of many things.

If I had H & M trapped, the question I'd most like to put to them (especially Meghan) is: 'Why do you insist on aligning yourself so strongly to an institution and a family which you have accused of being racist?' They are so, so hypocritical and brazen. Do they think people don't see through it?

(And yes, I do know why they do this and no, I don't believe the RF is racist,* or at least, no more racist than any fair-minded person in terms of unconscious bias which we all try our best to overcome.)

ssd · 13/02/2024 08:07

When they decided to move to America I thought good on them, they are their own people, they don't need to live within the royal enclosure and kow tow to certain people and the public who turn up to see them, they are young and modern and they dont need all that fawning over them the royals get. And i liked how Meghan had her own life and didn't fit the english Rose stereotype. I thought they'd quietly carve out a solid life for themselves and their kids and live happily away from the royal spotlight.

But it seems to be the opposite. Its all a mishmash of royal branding and unrealistic objectives. Too convoluted and pompous, whilst trying to be something we should aspire to and admire.

I wonder who is advising them. I'd sack them and go back to basics. Whatever that might be for them both.
They obviously are well meaning but its all wrapped up in celebrity pals and private jets and that just clashes with everything they seem to stand for.

user1984778379202 · 13/02/2024 08:08

For a couple who claimed Royal life was so toxic it damaged his mental health and drove her to contemplate taking her own life, they sure do like milking their connection to it.

Lockupyourbiscuits · 13/02/2024 08:13

The move back to Sussex using the crest brands it Royal - laughable after Harry calling his relatives trapped and them accepting the racism award
Moving away from Archwell branding isn’t surprising following the rather unspectacular accounts this year
They probably always intended to move back to Sussex and it confirms the PR aspect of Harry’s trip to see the King to boost his royal creds then release the brand - then there will be a turbo boost on the back of Invictus
I think the pair of them are raving Narcissists - now confirmed by their toe curling bios
“Legends in their own minds” has never been so apt

According to Twitter, the 45 min meeting involved King Charles begging H&M to come back into the Royal fold and has finally agreed to the half in/half out proposal from 2020.

I really doubt that particular version.
They are both so petulant, thin skinned and short sighted that this looks to me more like a two fingers up to KC following PH ridiculous UK visit last week. They do like a clapback so this seems like a 'what are you going to do about it?" type action.

They are a ridiculous couple.

Toooldforthis36 · 13/02/2024 08:23

Just looked at it. What a lot of bollocks.

That's a very good point @themessygarden.

Vespanest · 13/02/2024 08:27

Themselves or supporter can’t expect to have no negativity to them positioning themselves as international VIPs off the back of the “institution” they hate so much. The website was created for publicity and to sell themselves, some will love it but others will not like what they are selling. To call people meanies for discussing what was created for publicity is strange.

thefallen · 13/02/2024 08:30

It's cringeworthy.

mrsmingleton · 13/02/2024 08:35

With no reference to the RF connection it is in the realms of these people who roam the globe claiming they are the Grand Duke twice removed of Sporkavia or the Grand Duchess Anustasia of Upper Lower Blepheroplasty, Lower Sex Coburg.

Trying to put themselves into a position where taking away their royal titles would be very obviously 'devastating' (emotionally and to their means of earning a living) and would make them VICTIMS again if anyone tried it.
