So I see there is a brand-new Duke and Duchess of Sussex website. Very glossy.

But the self-aggrandising! I just read Meghan’s bio and - cringe - it was the worst of LinkedIn. Sometimes less is more!

And this thread, people being so nasty to someone they don't even know. Snide comments and pretty much frothing. It's all just so ..... well ..... English

You know what? There is no point trying to counter the many negative stories and half truths on this thread (along with many many others on MN) about the Sussexes. Trying to defend H&M against each of them would mean being here all day then being accused of making out that they are perfect, which of course they are not - but they really don't deserve most of this.

That is how hate campaigns work. There is a deliberate and concentrated hate campaign against H&M by the British media who are angry that they have left the RF and are (mostly) out of their reach, and that Harry is suing many of them. Like them or loath them they are international figures & I don't think you are aware of how this hate campaign is making us look as a country.

This has been going on for years, and several people here have evidently swallowed it whole. All this hatred has a subliminal effect on people; story after story after story, whether true or not - so many that it is impossible to counter every one - aimed at making H&M look bad, until it becomes a 'truth universally acknowledged' that of course they are terrible people.

You have been 'played' by the tabloid media and primed to see H&M in a negative light whatever they do, and so of course you will see their website through that same murky lens. Some of the the bile and vicious snideness on here & other threads against 2 people you don't know has been a very unpleasant read.

And people are upset Harry left the RF? I wouldn't have stayed either.

It’s nothing to do with the media. I base my judgements on what they say and do. Not what the media is reporting. You only need to read that website to see exactly what their mindset is.

It'd be lovely if it wasn't all so very selective. Skip about grinning at charity events, fabulous. Sending care packages, also fabulous. Talking about private family matters publicly, being estranged from both sides of the family and making every perceived slight, mistaoe or snub a headline? Not so fabulous

Of course there is crap written about H & M and other famous people but it’s pretty insulting to say people’s opinions are based solely from the British media. An argument used frequently by H & M supporters. You reap what you sow always.

@Ramalangadingdong - some people also want to use 'charitable' as a way to put themselves on a pedestal and seem like they're philanthropic but they're actually power hungry hedonistic hypocrites who actually go against what they're spouting ... with H&M you hardly need to scratch the surface before the stench hits you like a tidal wave

you could say this about many philanthro-entrepreneurs , public spirited politicians; many even said Mother Theresa was actually quite dodgy. What no one has been able to explain to me is why these two get such a thrashing. In my experience it is unique and out of all proportion. I am curious to understand why this is.

I never said they were innocent or blameless, just that I recognise a concerted hate campaign when I see one. And btw how is it possible to diagnose as 'narcissists' 2 people you have never met?

@Ramalangadingdong - H&M have done literally nothing, never had any of their own ideas, put themselves out for the sake of helping others, got any history of actually upholding causes and being selfless about causes ... they just do a quick 5 minutes off the back of others hard work, efforts, money etc cream off as much glory as they can, capture it on their cameras... that they'll then try to make money or get some idiot to give them an award for then move onto the back of someone else's hard work for a different cause ... they're parasitic in their ways, no even symbiotic

I'm not diagnosing them ... they are narcissistic, controlling, entitled, envious, over inflated sense of self importance, grandiosity, seeking praise, gaslighting, lying, blame shifting ... the list goes on and on

The idea of the public as a gullible mass, manipulated to dislike H& M by an evil media is inaccurate, baffling and frankly paranoid.

Many people seem to find the pair entertaining with their apparent lack of any modesty or self-awareness.

Others find them irritating with the shallowness of their virtue signalling and pomposity (handing out small charitable trinkets while fashioning themselves as exiled royals and living in a mansion).

Some see them as contemptible in their hypocrisy- cutting of Thomas Markle for speaking to the media while doing far worse to Harry’s family.

The reality is that we have had endless opportunities to hear them speak in their own ‘voice’, from interviews and TV series and books.

They are judged by their own words and actions. When they finally realise this, and stop blaming everyone else, they may reach some sort of understanding about how they come across and turn things around. But I won’t hold my breath.

I agree that some of the extreme views on both sides are OTT.

The media is misogynistic, racist and homophobic and is generating £££ from flaming the conflict.

The RF have taken the right tack to not respond in public. Sadly H & M haven’t helped themselves.
