New Sussex website

So I see there is a brand-new Duke and Duchess of Sussex website. Very glossy.

But the self-aggrandising! I just read Meghan’s bio and - cringe - it was the worst of LinkedIn. Sometimes less is more!

I do think they get a rough time from the media and us which on the whole I don't think they deserve, particularly the racism which is just appalling.

I do think they did everything in such a cack-handed way. They should've played the long game. Waited until the Queen had died and then actioned the plan of being the Royals in the Commonwealth like that had suggested.
It was just them wanting everything on their terms, at their pace which is just the opposite of being in the Royal family.

The website is not for the UK; it's for the US market who love all that bragging and self-praise.

Really? That’s the best you can come up with? 😂

Oh yes, really. Only someone very jealous and bitter would make such a nasty comment about Kate, especially given her recent health issues.

After all, unlike Meghan, Kate hasn’t spent the last 5 years giving people very valid reasons to dislike her.

But they ARE Prince Archie and princess lillibet :) Even though they live in California they may as well use the titles 🤷‍♀️ Because they can.

The thing that always seemed strange to me was when the Queen was alive and Meghan was offended because their children weren't prince and princess. Had Harry not explained to Meghan that William's children were because they were children of the heir apparent, and theirs would follow when Charles ascended? I know a lot of people got confused because they were looking at their relationship to William rather than their relationship to the monarch, and that's understandable, but how come Harry never explained this to Meghan?

Unbelievable that this bullying is allowed to carry on
Shameful

Sadly some posters feel the need to attack other posters, on the whole MN responds. But there are some posters that seem to sail close to the wind and get away with it

The bit about Meghan not understanding about why the kids were not prince and princess

She knew full well - probably understood it better than Harry - and voila happy to assume the titles after the Queen dies

SHE KNEW EXACTLY HOW IT WORKED!

She also knew Americans wouldn’t know - it was perfect to blame it on skin colour and racism

Pretty despicable

LilibetPerumphibumf · 13/02/2024 17:00

I think the way history has been rewritten by some here, Henry VIII was most likely a henpecked husband, had a penchant for beans on toast and lived in a tent.

And not the one of the Camp du Drap d'Or.

Forced out of the RF? About as forced out as water falling from an upside down bucket.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/02/2024 17:00

Recent health issues for the main royals mean that, had they stayed, put the hours in, they would currently be the main show

This was mentioned on another thread and it's very true (and may possibly have occurred to them)

It might even explain some of their obvious bitterness towards the family, and as a PP said it's hard not to notice the careful timing of so many of their "announcements", which - if they really are planned for maximum effect on the family - seems rather sad

SloaneStreetVandal · 13/02/2024 17:00

I haven't looked at their site, they're a pair of bores. If either of them had an ounce of the charisma and charm they think they have in spades, this profound virtue signalling wouldn't be necessary.

It's hard to say what Meghan did or didn't know, @Lockupyourbiscuits - after all let's not forget she told us she never researched the family or even Harry

From a clearly internet savvy, image driven lady this seems rather unlikely, but for all I know some might believe it

They really are in a right old muddle. Four years down the line they shouldn't be in this position of "upselling" themselves with new websites and talked up blurb of their backgrounds and mission statements.

This should all be evident to see from their actions of the last four years. But unfortunately instead of laying the foundations for a future they (or especially Harry) have spent too long focusing on the past and trashing the RF which as we all know is their only real selling point.

The magic and stardust of being royal has faded significantly with the unedifying spectacle of dishing the dirt, without moving forward of gaining anything significant in their own right.

It's another PR disaster. They shouldn't be having to upsell themselves. It smacks of desperation. Their brand should have been positive by now and buoyant with people clamouring at their door to be part of it, not the other way round. They are going to run out of road, and money, at this rate. Their PR has been one disaster after the next.

And it (their ‘brand’) would have been if they hadn’t trashed the RF and UK. They could have had it all if they’d just adhered to the mantra ‘don’t bite the hand that feeds’. They’re really no better than a couple of knee jerk toddles who threw all their toys out their pram and are now scrambling to put them back.

That's ridiculous. The explanation was out there immediately, as anyone would have known it would be if they knew how the system actually worked, and it would have been disproved as soon as Charles ascended anyway. I think she truly didn't know how it worked....but why didn't Harry tell her?

Thanks for link, it explained the "Office of" wording I was confused by.

Maireas · 13/02/2024 17:11

@wildernesssw - "dress code casual, but don't forget the titles"!
It's a good article. Note: BBC, not "Murdoch press"

wildernesssw · 13/02/2024 17:11

I suspect she understood, but thought it would be useful to imply something else.

Short term it was useful. Long term, taken in context with other behaviour, it raises questions about her honesty

Oh yes, but the BBC is as bad as Murdoch isn't it?! 😂as is any other media outlet to criticise H&M!

Maireas · 13/02/2024 17:13

The racism, that was implied on Oprah... why wasn't Archie instantly a prince?
Yet, imagine having made those claims, you're suddenly ok with him being a prince, so colour had nothing to do with it....yet no backtracking.

LilibetPerumphibumf · 13/02/2024 17:13

The ingénue act doesn’t cut it for me either turtle and puzzled.

She’s a lot more savvy than she makes on. And good luck to her.

But don’t make the mistake of thinking we button up the back dearie.

Spectre8 · 13/02/2024 17:17

All royals are hypocrites not just H&M who people.love to keep saying they are.

W&K C&C and so on are also hypocrites 🙄

All have websites or other social media posts that in many posters words here would be classed vomit inducing

They all do things that plenty of people don't think they handled in the right way or should of done it this way or that way instead

Honestly the vitriol only directed at one couple whilst holding the others up as virtuous is just quite frankly fucked up but this is what piers Morgan and the media love to do and nudge behaviour in the population all in their own self interest of clicks likes and money

Bargello · 13/02/2024 17:18

ChanelNo19EDT · 12/02/2024 21:52

Yikes. They're not letting go over the WE'RE royal Brand. It's a mistake imo. They need to let go of the whole royal thing and try and come across as though they don't care about titles.

But that is their USP. It's the only thing differentiating them from any number of other influencers and lobbyists and celebrities. Royal - even though they aren't working Royals any more - is the brand.
