New Sussex website

So I see there is a brand-new Duke and Duchess of Sussex website. Very glossy.

But the self-aggrandising! I just read Meghan’s bio and - cringe - it was the worst of LinkedIn. Sometimes less is more!

Well, if Meghan donated the cost of even one of her gala dresses to one of their charities, that would be a start.

I just see hypocrisy everywhere with H & M. On another thread there was talk of her 'Invictus wardrobe'. What (or WHAAATT??, as Oprah might say). Invictus wardrobe!! Those veterans do not need her to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on outfits to wear to the Games.

I often think this about celebrity charity work in general. All these smart events, purporting to be for charity, where celebrities get a nice warm glow, congratulating themselves on being such wonderful human beings...when actually, if the cost of just one of the red-carpet gowns had been donated it would have done a lot more good!

Mylovelygreendress · 13/02/2024 11:33

I would be interested to know what the reaction is in the US

Is this what they mean by 'a hand hold', rather than a handout? I bet most charities would rather have the cost of these clothes as a handout.

Is it really about doing good, or just feeling good about looking as if you're doing good?

Oh god those photos are really 🤮 - an expensive clothes horse trying to outshine everyone else ... whose games it actually is!!! Such wankers, the pair of them

JSMill · 13/02/2024 11:47

I agree about African parks. It's like colonialism in another form - rich white people telling people what to do with their own land.

Perhaps the New Website is not official.
Could a hacker be trying to create a bad look for them?

Oh I think they do that all by themselves!

Mia184 · 13/02/2024 11:54

They don’t want to have the cake but still eat it. 🤣😂🤣

Anewuser · 13/02/2024 11:57

And yet they’ve had free publicity by people on here looking at their new website.

I hate all the American spellings but then that’s their target market now.

They want their cake and eat it. They are royal when it suits them.

Getthethrowonthesofa · 13/02/2024 11:58

I wonder what prompted it as It is such an antagonistic move. They have fired another shot and ramped it up again.

It is literally their Sussex royal website, link below, which they were banned from using and haven’t updated since 2020, they have literally relaunched it, bigged themselves up and removed the words royal , hrh etc, but even the format is the same.

legally the royal family may have an issue with stopping this, unless they remove the sussex title. And Harry and Megan have skirted a fine line to try to monetise their titles without thr royals being able to stop them , unless they go full Sussex title removal.

i think William would do it in a heartbeat, as would have the queen if they didn’t agree to stop, which they did and moth balled the website , but the queen is dead, and Charles is a different story and they will know that..

This is so cringy it's unreal. The way she calls herself "Megan The Duchess of Sussex" - you don't need a capital T on The...

And I've always found the use of their DS's first name Archie used for their foundation to be cringeworthy beyond belief... who else does that unless you're a narc etc?

JudgeJ · 13/02/2024 12:00

Meghan's bio is much longer than Harry's. She, of course, is more important (in her eyes).

Does she eulogise her box opening skills on Deal or no Deal?

The wording of it, 'from the office of' seems to be making a run for some kind of office apparent.

viques · 13/02/2024 12:01

Maireas · 12/02/2024 22:56

..but would you make them seem royal enough? That's the important thing.
Don't forget that their children are called Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

I don’t think it counts these days, Katie Prices daughter is called Princess, I personally have taught two children called Princess and one called Prince. None of them regal in any way.

goldierocks · 13/02/2024 12:03

The 'About' page says the Duchess is 'a major advocate for mental health, family care, and gender equity'.

I'd be interested to know what types of family care Meghan advocates for, with examples.

IMVHO, accomplishments require a quantifiable measure of success.

I understand the difference between the meanings of equity and equality, I think saying 'gender equity' is okay.
This link explains it quite well.

Their choice of course, but surprised they felt the need for another one and even more surprised they mentioned African Parks with no further comment - and it's not as if this is an old piece where the refernce just hasn't been deleted yet

Also wondering if this is what was meant by the "exciting new things" Meghan said they'd got lined up

ComorosPearl · 13/02/2024 12:06

What a load of narcissistic tripe! As per. They seem to lack any self-awareness whatsoever.

MaturingCheeseball · 13/02/2024 12:08

It’s funny when the Supporters are floundering they resort to comments like, “Why do you care?” or “Leave them alone!” But on this occasion there’s not even that! Who on earth could defend this new website?

And do M&H honestly believe the claptrap that is their bios? Did not one person step in to say, “Errrrr….. errmmmm, a bit much don’t you think?” The embarrassment of mentioning an internship you did in college when you are now 42…

Oh wow - I missed the 'family care' bit.

Someone needs to give them a dictionary and show them the definitions of 'hypocrisy' and 'irony'.

Are they utterly brazen, or just very dim?

Roussette · 13/02/2024 12:19

It’s funny when the Supporters are floundering

I'm not floundering, not in the slightest. Who cares about the Coat of Arms (and it's Meghan's I believe). After all... non working Royals, Beatrice, Eugenie, Zara and Peter all have a Coat of Arms, so why shouldn't H&M?

And... wait for it... Andrew. He has one. So less of the coat of arms criticism!

Why shouldn't Meghan mention an internship... how weird to criticise this!

The only bit wrong for the website (for me, just my opinion) is... they just should've said Lilli and Archie as opposed to the Prince/Princess titles but apart from that...

It's just a website though, it has naff all impact on anyone let's face it it's not harming anyone. Lollll it's so bizarre why peolle give so much headache over such things.

CoffeeCantata · 13/02/2024 12:22

The worst thing is...I think Meghan and Harry actually believe this stuff about themselves (in their CVs). I know it's possible to have too much self-doubt, but really.....!!

And as for the people who can't see through it - words fail me. I just hope that, in real life, they are more switched on.

Gottseidank · 13/02/2024 12:23

Is it true that there’s a page on the new website about their work ‘serving the monarchy’? I saw something on twitter

MissSookieStackhouse · 13/02/2024 12:23

I opened this thread as I thought for a minute it was going to have tips about visiting picturesque Sussex, as I’ve booked a cottage there in a few weeks! Durrrr! 😂

When I found out what it was actually about, I couldn’t resist a peak at their website! What self aggrandising rubbish! If any bio needed a red pen through it and a serious edit, it’s Meghan’s. Clearly she has never heard the phrase ‘less is more’!
